  1. I'm 7 weeks post op and like you I'm usually 600-800 (averaging around 700), I get my protein in at 70 sometimes a little more and I'm averaging between 40-50 net carbs. I average about 50 oz of water but today actually made it to 70 oz. 😅 Are you losing weight? Because I've been stuck for 3 weeks and I'm very frustrated. Find it easy to get my protein but tough to lower my carbs. Don't know if I'm tooo high on carbs. Or fat? Averaging about 30-40 grams. Maybe that's my problem?
  2. I feel like I could have written this post! I'm 8 weeks out from surgery and I've been stuck for 3 weeks. It's so frustrating. I've lost 14 pounds since surgery. I'm getting 70 g of protein , averaging about 42 grams carbs, 32 g fat, and about 700 callories. Getting about 50 oz of water on average. I've heard eat more, eat less - i try and get more water in but it's tough. I don't exercise a lot but try and get on the exercise bike at least every other day. Just thought with as little as I'm eating and no alcohol compared to my past life (!) it would come off easier. What am I doing wrong?
  3. What signs are common for knowing you're full or almost there? I'm 6 weeks out today and I still can't always tell. I feel hungry a lot more often than I used to. I seem to be full after 5-6 bites but then I feel hungry again soon after. But I kind of go by a feeling I get that if I put one more bite in I'm going to want to spit it out. After a few bites my stomach kind of growls like it's hungry but then a few more bites and I get that warning. Am I doing something wrong? I just ate 3 oz of filet mignonette and 1/2 of a small baked potato an hour ago and I feel hungry now. And I am losing like a pound a week - very frustrated. Help please?

    Signs youre full?

Oh so you're about where I am. No I'm not grazing. Sometimes I find I wait too long to eat and then I'm starving. I go back to work tomorrow so I'll be on a regular schedule again and I hope it'll be easier. A week or so ago I was getting a few hiccups or burping which was my warning to quit, but then lately it doesn't happen anymore. Just have to figure out the signals I guess. I'm wondering if it could be reflux instead of hunger? I take a Prevacid in the morning.

    Signs youre full?

Thanks Cheri! Wow, 7 years out and out and you still can't handle more than a few bites of beef. Amazing. I haven't thrown up but have experienced that very uncomfortable 😣 feeling that I ate to much but it usually goes away after 20-30 minutes if I walk around a bit or take a tums. That was the first time I tried steak and I was surprised that I ate as much as I did. I guess it's just trying to figure out the signals and if it's hunger, reflux or digesting. And I wonder if I'm eating enough since I'm losing weight so slowly. Eating average of 650-700 calories, 65 -70 G protein. But usually only get 45 oz of water at best. Found that nutritionist has not been a lot of help - very vague with guidelines.
  6. Good for you!! What an awesome feeling that must have been! I say go for it and have fun!

    No energy.

I felt very weak and light-headed for the first three weeks. I think most of it is fluids. I was getting my protein in but not enough fluids. I even called my doctor on day 6 and told him I was dehydrated and needed fluids. He told me to focus on getting more in and to try Propel water because it has electrolytes in it. That helped immediately. But I was still short of breath after climbing stairs and just felt weak until week 4. Then felt stronger. I tried eating a little more too - my nutritionist said I needed more calories.
  8. I was sleeved May 22. Surgery date weight was 213. I'm now at 199. I get all my protein in, getting an average of 650 calories per day. Water I can get in about 40-50 oz no more. I've lost some inches but still feel it should be coming off faster. Especially given the fact I used to have 1-2 cocktails per day and quit cold turkey. Getting some exercise but have to take it easy because of arthritis in my knee. Could my age be a factor? I'm 57 and post menopausal. Love this forum - it's been such a huge help. Thanks for all your posts.
  9. I bought the bariatric Fusion vitamins and took them before surgery with no problem but after surgery - uh uh, they made me want to puke. I switched to Flintstone chewables and have no problem with them. Take 2 a day. And the B12 sublingual.

    opinions on fruit?

My nutritionist told me today to add some fruit into my diet - I was getting enough protein but I needed more carbs. She suggested 1/2 a banana or watermelon.
  11. I brought so much to the hospital I never needed. I recommend a good chapstick or Vaseline - my lips were so cracked and dry they hurt. I didn't even bring a change of clothes just clean undies. Slippers to walk in. A sweater or bed jacket if you get cold. I brought my kindle and phone and never opened the kindle. Either I was sleeping or trying to sleep. Earplugs - hospitals are noisy. As far as what to have at home, I would stock up on protein shakes, yogurt, crystal light, bottled water (if desired) and broth. Propel water saved me - it has electrolytes and has a flavor to it -I like the lemon flavor - and after a couple days of feeling nauseated and weak, it really helped. I asked my doctor for a prescription for Zofran for nausea and so glad I had it - took it for the first 7 days. A friend recommended getting a stool softener on hand and I needed it my second week - taking it daily now. Good luck on your surgery!
  12. Monday was my 2 week post op anniversary and I was down 9 pounds since day of surgery. Still feeling very weak and not able to walk much. I talked to the nutritionist today she said she thinks I'm not getting enough calories- she said to go for about 700. I've been averaging 485 or so but getting all my protein. I'm so tired of not being strong enough to do anything but go to the grocery store.
  13. I was very lucky - I had the most wonderful nurse my first night and she was a godsend! I didn't even have to ask for pain meds she had them ready for me. I felt like every time I woke up she was standing there. I didn't sleep much, and then at 2am they brought in a new patient as my roommate. Right away she gave me ear plugs and eye shades and I was able to fall asleep again. The next morning they moved me to a different room way down at the end of the hallway. I had to beg for someone to take me to the bathroom. One time I barely made it. Totally different staff. I decided to go home. So glad I did.

    Dating horrors

You might want wait to share that info until you know someone better. Have a single friend who is dating and she explains away her "small appetite" with " I just ate", or "not that hungry, let's just get appetizers". Not everyone needs to know your medical history right off the bat.
  15. Thanks Joann454. I'm not sure how many calories but I'd be surprised if it's any higher than 400. Thank God I have 6 weeks off work, there's no way I could work. Typically been eating 2 Premiere Protein Shakes, a cup of chicken broth, a popsicle here and there and a high protein cream of chicken soup mix I ordered off Amazon. 15 grams per serving. And water. That's about it. 8 days out today. We have a 2 story house so I go up and down stairs but even that wipes me out.
  16. Right? 15 min on Elliptical? I wouldn't have been able to do that before my surgery! I'm very out of shape and this is killing me. Mornings are the hardest for me, maybe because no calories all night long. Am I supposed to have a shake in the the middle of the night? I just feel I'm doing something wrong to feel this bad.
  17. Hi all - I'm a new sleeves, May 22. Day 6 post op. I'm suffering from nausea. Zofran does seem to help but just wondering how long it'll go on. And I have headache in my neck that just won't quit. Just looking for some reassurance. Having trouble getting my protein and water in. I'm up to about 35 oz of water but only about 30-45 grams protein. Still feel hungry but stomach rebels and won't take it. And I'm trying walk but get weak and lightheaded. How are some people walking a mile or 2? A flight of stairs and I have to rest!!
  18. I'm getting my protein in - 60 grams per day, but I am still exhausted. I'm 8 days out and really feeling desperate. It takes me an hour and a half in the morning to shower and blow dry because I get so weak I have to sit down over and over. I'm so glad I bought a bench for the bathroom before the surgery. I have to sit down to blow dry. Everyone talks about protein but what about CALORIES? I've looked over all the paperwork the nutritionist gave me and there is nothing in there about calories. 2 Premiere Protein shakes are 60 grams of protein- super. But they are also only 160 calories for a total of 320. What are you all eating besides protein shakes for calories? And how many calories do I need daily? I'm not so much sleepy tired as just plain exhausted

    Nausea and headache

thanks for your help everyone. I called my doctor and he didn't seem to think it warranted a trip to the ER although I have no doubt I'm dehydrated. He said to try and drink more. I tried Propel water which had electrolytes and vitamins, plus some flavor, and it went down easier than plain water. I've also found I'm having more success with hot or cold beverages, instead of room temp. He also mentioned even though I'm getting my protein in, I may need more calories in general - thus the weakness. I'm trying 🙄

    Nausea and headache

Just tried to eat some cream soup and after 2 tsp - nope. I just gag. Haven't thrown up since the hospital but gag all the time. I'm going to email my doctor Tuesday about the nausea. My nurse mentioned to me about the scopaline (sp?) patch for nausea and I've seen it mentioned on here as well. Maybe that will help. You're not alone - I'm feeling pretty miserable too. I know it'll get better but the day to day is very tiresome. Forgot to mention, has your sense of smell gone into hyperdrive? Omg I've had to move candles out of the room, my husband cooked broccoli last night and I thought I was gonna lose it! He cooked bacon this morning and I had to go outside until he was done eating . I've always had a strong sense of smell but this is over the top and it contributes to the nausea.

    Did you tell people?

I'm day 6 post op. I'm very lucky to have a close friend who is 14 months post op - she's been a god-send - and two coworkers who are 11 months post op. I didn't keep it a secret at work. Figured everyone would know eventually. But I did not tell my or my husbands family. I tested the topic with my sisters last summer, who are both thin btw, and after getting the standard "isn't that for people who just don't have the discipline to eat right and work out?" I decided I didn't need to hear their opinions or worries and kept it to myself. I probably will eventually tell them but I only see them once or twice a year so hopefully I'll be a lot thinner when I do.
