    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Well, I did it, tonight I had regular food, 4oz of chicken and dumpling. So far so good, took my time and chewed really good. I can actually feel full, maybe alittle pressure ,I guess that's what I feel. Anyway I'm gona take it slow and still some mushie and some not so mushie for a few days. Just thought I would share, it felt good to chew. The hardest was not drinking anything for 1/2 hour. Hope everyone had a great Mothers Day.

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Brandy hi! You're doing great, I start regular foods this Monday, I'll be 3 wks post-op, and like you I'm really gona have to watch my portions, my first fill is not until 6/9. I'm down 9lbs since surgery, it's slow going but I've been on full liquids the whole time(soaps and cream of wheat, yogart and puddings) Not really hungry much, just trying to eat 3x aday with protein drinks, ice tea and water inbetween. Good luck and let me know how you make out on real food.

    Burning Sensation!!

I have to say, I had a 2nd thought for about 1 seconds right after my surgery, of course I really didn't know where I was, but by the time I got to my room they were long gone. This Monday I will be 3 weeks post-op, my port site is still a little tender, but other than that I feel great and wouldn't change a thing. I get to start regular food this week and can't wait. Small portions, small bite and eat slow. The slow part is the hardest next to not drinking with my meals. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Janet, Hope all is well with your family, my thought and prayers are with you .
  6. I would suggest you go to a seminar, I went to 2 of them and learned a lot more then I thougt I knew. Each one gave me a little bit more since they were done by 2 different surgeons from the same office. It can't hurt and it cost nothing. Remember KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. Good luck and keep us posted.

Well I was just checking on you guys. Keep me posted. I still have till June 9th for my 1st fill. Burning Sensation!!

Hey Jerseygirl, I'm 16 days post-op now and my port site is still sore and swallen and feels hard at times. I know that they cut the muscles there ad it takes longer to heal, not sure if I would call it a burning feeling but I don't like it. Any how your not alone. P.S. The heating pad helped alot along with the gas-ex. Keep in touch. What part of Jersey are you from. I'll be there for a few weeks the end of June into July. Carol

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Gralda, I was banded 4/21, I had a hard time breathing the first 2 days. The first nite they gave me a few breathing treatments, mainly because I am asthmatic, it helped a little. But I think it was because of all the gas and the tube they put down your throat during surgery. Just keep taking deep breaths it helps.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hey gang, Can anyone tell me how long does your port site stay swollen and sore. I'm 16 days post op and it still feels hard, sore and just a big lump. Is this normal?

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Not a fan of protein powder, :eek:but a friend told me about Jay Robb Egg White protein powder. It comes in non-flavored, vanilla, choc. and strewberry. This stuff is great, it leaves no film, gritty after taste Just blend it in my magic bullet w/ skim milk or water and add my own flavor, like banana, strawberry I even added a little cup of jello to it. Not bad. Not sure where to buy it, :confused:I went on line to jayrobb.com. Check it out, he also has other things w/protein. I just started using it a few days ago and its really not bad. They even say you can sprinkle it on your food. Hope this helps. Carol

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Teresa, I'm sorry for your loss. I lost a very dear friend 10 yrs ago this July to cancer and I still sometimes things happen that remind me of her and the laughs we had. Thats when I thank God I had a friend like her and that she still can make me laugh and be happy. My prayers are with you.
  17. Just found this thread and added my stats to the list. The only thing I forgot to add was my High pre-op weight. Not sure how to go back and fix it. My highest weight was 209 and 5ft tall. If anyone knows how to change it let me know. This spread sheet was a great idea. Thanks and good luck to us all. Carol

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Almost 2weeks post-op, can anyone tell me how long the port site is sore and alittle swollen. I still have discomfort around this area and it feel like a small ball, is this normal?I also thought the port site was more to side above your hip. Guess not.

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Well, I'm 12 days post op and lost a total of 8lbs. Not sure if this is normal or if I should be loosing more. I'm on thick liquids for 3weeks. Anything you get thru a straw. I try to eat soup or cereal 3 times a day, the rest is all water or ice tea. I wasn't on any pre op diet plus the first few days after surgery I could only walk around the house . I am feel a lot better and stronger with each day that passes. I guess it's different for everyone, not to mention when you're 55 it takes alittle longer to heal. So far I haven't been hungry but maybe once or twice and my first fill is not until June 9th. Any suggestion would be welcome.

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Hey, How is everyone doing? Just thought I'd check and see how all you April Avengers are feeling. I'm 10 days post op and feeling pretty good. Keeping liquids down, most the gas is gone, but the port site is still sore. One more week of liquids and thick (full) liquids and then it's on to regular food. My dog is happy since today is the first day I let him sit on my lap..He's a bichon and loves to jump up on my lap. That was the hardest, keeping him of my stomack. He's such a Mommas boy. I hope you all keep me posted.
