Newbie - 6 months out from lapband surgery
luv2ride replied to emmasmom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded in October also. I stopped losing after about 43 lbs. Went back for another fill and started watching everything I ate. I had been drinking gatorade and juice, not even thinking about the calories, had been drinking slimfast and eating protein bars which was basically a candy bar. I thought I was following directions. Nope! Stopped doing that and began writing down what I ate and counting calories. Finally started losing again. Now I am down 49lbs. wish it would go faster but I think when the weather warms up and I can get out of the house and move around it will start to come off again a little better. Hang in there we didn't put it on overnight so I guess it won't come off overnight.:tt1: -
Wow Rosie that's great. Keep up the good work.

Yup looks something just like that. Have been trying to get a picture to come up but can't, will keep trying. What state to you live in MyKdsDad? I am in Kansas -
I've been banded since October and I don't have any trouble eating salad as long as it's cut into small pieces or the shredded lettuce and I chew it up. Not much protein in a salad unless you add chicken or turkey so I really haven't missed them much.

Hang in there you can do it. I don't know what your doctor told you but this is basically what I lived on, chicken boullion or beef, apple juice, hot apple cider, hot tea (green tea for me)I even made Jello and drank it warm and then when it was set I could eat tiny bites. We are with you, it won't be long now till you can have creamed Soup. It is worth it and you can do it.:huh2: Banded 10-9-2007 Weight Loss Surgical Center Dr. Lee Nigro 49lbs lost -
What made you decide? + need advice

I know what you are talking about. I tried all the diets and pills and sure I would lose weight for awhile but it always came back. My sister was banded in December of 2006 and she has lost 150 lbs. She was my inspiration and with the encouragement of my family I started researching doctors and visiting with several clinics. I was to have back surgery last summer and the little voice told me not to. Instead I decided on lap band and was banded October 9 2007. Yes you have little worries, know it is not a quick fix but a tool to help you make some lifestyle changes you can live with. When you accept that then you will know you are ready. Only you can decide when that is. For me it was the best thing I have done and I did it for me and my health. Not my husband cause he loves me no matter what I weigh and not for my children or friends but for me. I can't begin to tell you how much better I feel. I can get a good nights sleep and wake up rested which in turn lets me have more energy to live my life. Living takes on a whole new meaning and you have a better outlook on life. My blood pressure is down, less depression, no sleep apnea and less pain in my back (which will lessen the more I lose) No one can tell you to do it we can all be here for you when and if you decide this is what you want to do. All I can say is it was the right choice for me. I wish you the best of luck and if you decide you are ready you have a good support group here. Love to go to Lindsborg everyone has a great time. It is a big event around here. Where do you come from? Thank goodness for technology, I don't feel so alone.

I live around Salina and was just wondering if there are any bandsters in the area. I don't think there is a support group around here but was wondering what others in the area are doing?

We have two 1998 Harley Davidson Anniversary Specials. The first is a Road Glide Ultra Classic, the second is a Road King. Love to ride behind my husband on the Road Glide cause usually when we go in the car I drive. This way I can sit back and enjoy the ride. -
After which fill did YOU really start losing!
luv2ride replied to AppleSmith1226's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was banded October 9, 2007 and wasn't given a fill for 6 weeks. I have a 10cc band, and hadn't really felt any restriction till my last fill and that put me at 9cc in the band. I am still able to eat anything but have to make the choice not to eat the breads and sweets because I want to lose weight more. You must eat your protein first and then your vegetables and then your fruit if you have room. You didn't say if you have to pay for each fill you get or not. Talk to your Dr. and let him/her know how you are feeling, most Drs. want you to have good results. I was told the first 6 weeks is healing time for the band and not really meant as "weight loss" time. You didn't put this weight on overnight and it is not going to come off overnight. You are retraining you body and it may seem like it is taking a long time but it is worth it. It is a long journey so hang in there. Good Luck  -
