  1. I didn’t crush anything, but I would suggest doing whatever your medical team advised.
  2. Honestly, 25 pounds in 2 weeks is a lot! And the three week stall is just part of it all. I lost 2 pounds in the last 2-3 weeks and was feeling the same way you are ( I’m 3 1/2 months post op) and then I lost 4 pounds on Monday. Try not to weigh yourself everyday.
  3. Don’t worry! I bet you’ll lose 4 pounds one of these days. Just relax. It’s going to keep coming off.

    Hair Loss

I’m shedding A LOT (3 1/2 months post op). I bleach my hair, think I should not add the stress of bleach during this stage? If so, How long should I wait?
  5. I woke up with a nurse sitting next to me, talking to me saying, once you’re a little more awake, we will get your fiancé from the waiting room. I was out of it but not feeling pain and sort of acting silly. A few minutes later, he was there! Then a few minutes after that, we were being wheeled to my room. Don’t worry about this part, they deal with people waking up from surgery all day long, if it’s like my experience, you will wake up in a large room full of people waking up in their own little curtained cubbies. And you’ll be awake, awake in no time.

    Ordering bridesmaid dress?

It’s really hard to say. I’ve lost 45 pounds in 3 months, and have gone from 18/20w to 14/16 in “regular” sizes.
  9. I’m about 3 and a half months post op and I have only lost 2 pounds in the past 2-3 weeks. Is this a common time to have a stall? I’ve (only?) lost 42 pounds post surgery.

Do you mind if I ask how much those treatments have cost? Do you have to grow the hair out in order to have them lasered off?

    PCOS

Hey! Sorry I totally missed your response until now! I have Kaiser, and went to my first “Options” class in November, and finished in February. I met with the surgeon at the end of April and had surgery May 2. My total out of pocket cost was only $655. My weight at the beginning of my classes (Nov 2017h was 289, surgery weight was 262, and my current weight (8/12/18) is 220 Feel free to message me!
  12. I was scared too, but this is so routine. They do these surgeries ALL the time. You will be fine!!!

    PCOS

I have PCOS, and after either bleeding non stop, or not bleeding for a while, I finally had my first normal period in a really long time last week. I am 3 months post op tomorrow. I can feel my body working in a way I haven’t felt in a long time :)
  14. I waited until my first post op appointment, and I am glad that I did. I didn’t have a super rough recovery, but I remember thinking, if I’ not losing weight while I am going through this, it will be torture! It was nice to see the new number at the office, but it still wasn’t as much as I’d hoped. I think it’s easy to get fixated on the scale, so try to focus on how you feel, and being healthy, rather than the number. The weight will come off!
  15. I think it has to do with alcohol tolerance being lower after surgery, but also a transfer of addiction. If you’ve been addicted to food, and now you can’t eat like you used to, it’s easier to become an alcoholic.

    May 2018 losers bench

I went on vacation for two weeks, and I tried to eat primarily salads and plain meat, but I also snacked a bit for the first time since surgery. I was surprised by my ability to nibble on pretty much anything and feel pretty ok. I tried new foods for the first time and I felt good in a bathing suit and even felt like I was losing weight. I was surprised to come home and to have not lost anything, especially with all the swimming and walking I did. There is a part of me that is afraid I’ve screwed this process up, and what if I’ve stopped losing?! What if I had this surgery to lose only 40 pounds?! I know it’s probably a stall, but these are my fears. Any one have similar experiences to share?
  17. I have been careful not to weigh myself unless at the doctors office. This weekend I was at my in laws and stepped on their scales out of curiosity, and at first one of the two scales said I had gained 1.7 pounds and the second said I had lost .5 a pound. I thought, this has to be wrong! But now it’s eating at me. How could I not lose weight on week two, eating liquids and purees?! HW 289 SW 262 CW ? 18. I had surgery on May 2nd and today marks 6 weeks. I’ve lost a little over 30 pounds since surgery and over 50 since November when I had my first appointment and started the process. It’s gone by both so fast and so slowly. I’m sick of Protein Drinks, and I just haven’t fallen into the right routine. I wake up and I miss my coffee routine but I’m proud of myself for stopping. I pour a glass of ice Water and get to work (I work from home). Sometimes I have a Protein Shake, sometimes I have a smoothie with protein, but it’s never on the same schedule. Some days I feel hungry enough to think about have a snack/lunch and then the day passes and I have something for dinner. I haven’t been tracking my meals. I haven’t even been measuring my food, except to eyeball the size and I pay attention to how I feel and eat slowly with lots of chewing. I often only get a few bites in.  I remember an instructor in my Kaiser Option course saying she didn’t understand why people call after surgery and say “what should I be eating?” Because we have 12 classes and a binder of information by the end of it... but I feel like the info they gave us doesn’t have the exact post surgery diet info I’m looking for, and I really do think to myself, “what should I be eating?!” And Why can’t I remember what I’m supposed to do now? I haven’t been great about Vitamins because they make me nauseous. I’m often tired or lack energy. I just feel like I did this major thing by getting surgery, and I want to do it right, but I’m having a hard time implementing a structure and new sense of control, I guess. Is this relatable to anyone? Any advice on how to feel like I’m taking better control and feeling more empowered?

    Any MAY sleevers???

Don’t worry about not losing weight right now... that seems to be very common. I didn’t lose any weight at your stage but I’ve lost over 27 pounds now, and 4.5 just in the last 3 days. It freaked me out too, then I posted here and a lot people said it is common.

    Any MAY sleevers???

I’m not sure how long ago your surgery was, but I was surprised by my level of hunger, too. If you’re on liquids, that’s probably the reason. My surgeon said liquids aren’t going to “fill you up” like food will. Now that I’m 6 weeks out, I’m not as hungry as I was.
  22. Obviously, the surgery is the biggest part of the weight loss...no way could I have done it without being sleeved. I REALLY followed my nutrition plan, religiously, for the first year. No 'cheating' or whatever you want to call it...I buckled down and did my program. I pushed Protein like crazy that first year, and ate very few carbs. I lost mostly body fat and not much of my muscle due to eating that way. I was very lucky, having the surgery put my fibromyalgia, early arthritis and psoriasis into remission; it also lowered my blood pressure so much that I left the hospital off all meds. Those changes in my inflammatory pain made it so much easier for me to exercise, which in turn made the weight loss go faster. I lost about 50 lbs in the first 3 months, 25-ish the next 3 months and the remainder of my loss was slow and over the rest of that first year. I only exercise moderately, I'm just much more active than I was at 262. My fitness level is much better; for example, we just went to Alaska and I was able to hike over 15 miles a day for days on end, without any preparation. Now I'm moving into the time when my restriction has eased up a bit and my stomach is more tolerant of foods. I had quit tracking and have been just eyeballing portions, and I gained 4 pounds on my 2 week vacation. We drank beer or wine daily, and I had dessert several times, so the gain wasn't a surprise but it did remind me that I have to put in the effort to track, watch my alcohol intake closely and skip Desserts. I've already lost 2 of the 4 I gained, which is a relief. It's a life long effort, aided by the restriction of my sleeve, not a miracle cure...and it's the best thing I've ever done for myself <3 Thank you for all the details! You’ve done so great, congratulations!
  23. My starting weight is the same! I’d love to be 160 at the end. I’m only about 5-6 weeks out from surgery and have lost almost 30 pounds... I’d love to hear about your journey. Do you feel like some things were an extra help to you? Do you exercise a lot? Do you attribute it to the surgery, or other important variables too?

    May 2018 losers bench

I’m in a similar boat. My surgery was on the 2nd, On Friday I’d lost 23 pounds. That didn’t seem like a lot to me, then I realized it’s over half a pound a day, which is pretty great. I think it’s easy to want to see drastic changes, but slow is good for your body. And “slow” in this context is actually pretty fast! I’ve read it is common to Stall around week 3.
