Lighter than my husband!
DropWt4Life replied to anonymom26's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great job! You can see the confidence boost! Keep up the good work! -
You look good, and don't appear to have lots of excess skin. Just keep doing what got you to this point. You'll be fine.

To Tell or Not To Tell
DropWt4Life replied to Polly Pocket's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have not told anybody but my family. I don't owe anything to anybody. If people notice my weight loss, I will just say that I am eating cleaner and less food. At least that isn't a lie, since it will be the truth. After all, the specifics are really none of their business. -

Sept 2! Ready to meet Dr Illan

My BMI is 39, but I do have a lot of muscle as well. I don't look like most other people that are over 300 pounds. People often think that I am in the 240-250 range. I have surgery scheduled with Dr. Illan on 8/7. I have never heard of this being an issue, but I am nervous about it as well. I think that if you were approved at a certain weight, the surgery should be performed even if you do lose weight. After all, that is the purpose of a pre-op diet. They want you to be as healthy as you can be, so there is a better surgical outcome with hopefully less complications. Good luck on your journeys. -
One week post op questions! :)
DropWt4Life replied to emma93's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
A friend of mine used isopure Zero Carb protein ready to drink instead of some water when she made jello. It effectively added 40 grams of protein to her jello. She liked it. I haven't tried it, but I will during my pre-op liquid phase. I have also seen lots of people adding protein to their coffee post-op. If you are drinking broths, try bone broth instead of just regular chicken broth. The bone broth that I bought from Costco (Pacific organic chicken Bone Broth) has 9g Protein per 8 oz serving. That is 9X more than their regular chicken broth. Good Luck! -
I'm scheduled for 8/07 with Dr. Illan. I paid 3% extra ($515.00) on my paypal account. I will take a cashier's check with me for the balance when I leave. Good Luck!

Excuse me in advance for my ignorance! I understand that you shouldn't drink liquids at least 30 minutes before and after meals. My question is...What if soup or stew is on the menu for the meal? How should we go about eating these or should we avoid them altogether?

What types of things do you pack for surgery in Mexico?
DropWt4Life replied to nurse247's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
For airline travelers, you can take bouillon cubes with you instead of broth. That way, you can ask for a cup of hot water at a restaurant and make your own. The same goes for protein powder and cold water for meals. I know a guy that had a lbl after losing weight. He carried a cane with him for a few days, because he wanted to baby his stomach and not put pressure on his sutures. Best of luck to you! -
What a whirlwind! Surgery on July 19!
DropWt4Life replied to passion4film's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
A technicality? That is just ridiculous! I am so glad you were able to still get the surgery. On the bright side, you'll have a decent amount of time to get the recovery your body needs! I wish you the best of luck. -
Good job CattMyst! That is a great accomplishment! I'm sure your surgeon is very happy about that! My surgery date is also August 7th. I wish you the best of luck in your journey!

Did insurance cover complications from a surgery performed in Mexico?
DropWt4Life replied to FamilyGuyNJ's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks for your input. It will be worth a few hundred bucks to purchase a policy just in case something happens. -

mbuczkowski, If you don't mind me asking, who did you purchase medical tourism insurance through? I think my insurance has to cover emergency complications if I go to an in-network hospital, but not 100% sure. I am super worried about leaks over everything else. Thanks! -
