If Cigna Denies, Will Tricare Approve???
tamvann24 replied to ML in VA's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi ML, I have Cigna HMO (does not cover out of service) and they did approve me after doing the six month weight loss program, psych evaluation and group sessions. I had a BMI of 56 when I had my surgery. So its probably just a matter of time. Hope you hear from them soon. -
14 hours after surgery
tamvann24 replied to justbob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on the successful surgery. Its funny how doctors have their own post surgery menus for us in the hospital. All I had on the first day after surgery was 1/4 cup of ice chips every 4 hours. Rest up the journey is just beginning. -
I went to have my first fill yesterday at the hospital. My doctor usually does the first fill using the x-ray while you swallow that white chalky substance to see how much of a restriction you currently have. As he watched the fluid go down to my pouch he said that I did not need a fill because the fluid was not flowing through the band quickly. That may have been true, but I still feel like I can comsume too many calories during the course of the day and I am still looking for food to eat. Should I have insisted on the fill? I would like to get your opinions. Thanks!

Denied My First Fill
tamvann24 replied to tamvann24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I have lost 22 lbs since my surgery on March 24. But most of that was lost in the first 2 weeks. -
Tomorrow is my surgery and I am nervous and excited at the same time. It has been a journey for me also just like most of you. I started the process of getting insurance approval about a year ago. But I've been acquiring about this surgery for over two years. Here's to the start of my new journey, new life!!!
