  1. Well lets see, I have been overweight to fat most of my adult life. I had been as high as 265lbs with size 40s getting tight. I did Atkins when it was just getting popular and dropped about 50+lbs, but then gained 25-35 back. I was really debating getting lapband about 5+ years ago, but decided to give myself 6 months in the gym 4+ times a week and re-evaluate. Well, I did good and really got in the gym and at my lowest I hit 189 with 11.9% bodyfat. Then I tore my L4/L5 disk thinking I was on my way to being a bodybuilder at 38 years old. :-( After 5-6 spinal injections and many issues with tendonitis my desire for the gym waned and I got lazy. Lazy turned into getting fatter and adding 40+lbs back after a year. Prior to the sleeve I was 241. Surgery day I was 236 and this morning a tad over 2 months our I was 209lbs. Attached are my progress pics. As you can see I carry it all in my belly and nave never been blessed with the fat guy lower body and calves. Start: One Month Out: 2 months out at 209lbs: I still have a long way to go and really thank the community here for the encouragement and knowledge they have given me. I am 10lbs away from my first goal of 199 and then hope to see if I can get down to 180-185 depending on how lean I get at the 185 mark.
  2. I read stories like this and was freaking. I was really worried that I would experience the same. Surgery for me was not fun, but I never had much issue sipping the water. My surgery was last Thr and by Sat the only issues I had was occasional cramping/gas pains in the upper stomach above my ribs. I could have gone back to work on Monday if I wanted, but decided to stick with the week work from home. So far the only pain/annoyance I have is the damn staples that they won't remove until next Tuesday. I guess I am one of the luckier ones, but even if I went through more pain I would not regret taking this step to change my life! I hope every day continues to improve for you!

    June sleeve buddies?

Well fellow June Sleevers I had mine on June 1 around 10:30AM. I was released from the hospital around 5:30PM and have been recovering pretty well. I expected much worse pain, but it has been tolerable. I am looking very forward to the pureed food portion of the diet, but so far it has been manageable. Stay strong folks any your future is bright.

    255 Starting Weight ?

I am getting my Gasrtic Sleeve on Thursday. I have done the up and down, was 265 at 5'11" at one point, but via low carb was able to get down in the 210 range. Went back up to the 230s-240s and started hitting the gym like crazy and buying lots of "supplements" to help. Gained muscle and was losing weight until I tore my L4/L5 disk. After multiple spinal injections followed by reinjuring during workouts I became way less motivated and more sedentary. Also, life stressors kicked up big time and I went from low 200s back up to the 240 mark. I am around the 35.5% BMI with sleep apnea and qualified. I know it won't be easy, but I have decided to take this route and the full journey starts on Thr. I see lots of transformations from guys in the high 200s to 300s hitting goal weights that I am aiming for and hopeful I can do the same.

    Outpatient surgery?

I am outpatient also, but not until June 1 also. I am a tad nervous, but had a buddy that is 3 weeks out and although he stayed overnight he said that he would have been fine at home.

    June sleeve buddies?

My Surgery date is June 1. On 5/24 I go in for the EGD scope and then the next day I start my liquid diet. I am as nervous about that as I am about no longer doing lunch with my normal lunch bunch. I will say it is the lunch bunch that has helped me get to this point, but I am ready for the lifestyle change. Best of luck to all of you!
