How many fills / ccs before you feel restriction...
travelinsnorkel replied to ReadyInCT's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first fill last week and of course thought I would be the exception to the rule and have lots of restriction the first try! Of course I didn't so I will be getting another fill in 4 weeks. Fill er up! hehe -
I got my first fill today, everything went great, but I asked my doc all of my questions and he contradicted a lot of things I've heard on here. He said coffee is fine, Advil is fine, doing crunches and pilates is fine. A lot of things that I have heard on here contradict that. I guess I will stick with what my doc says until something happens!

What's a good way to meet a guy? Do guys actually like bigger girls?
travelinsnorkel replied to Amethystjade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have mostly met guys online. I've dated mostly thinner guys and they didn't have a problem with my weight. I think that there are a good chunk of guys out there who won't date larger women, but there are a lot who will! It does sometimes take longer to find those guys, but they are out there. Being confident in yourself and projecting that helps a lot. Good luck! -
Where is everyones port? i can feel something hard
travelinsnorkel replied to bubz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is diagonally centered between my belly button and my boob. It is my biggest incision and feels like a lump underneath the incision. -
What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
travelinsnorkel replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This isn't something that is ever directed at me, but I hate it when people who are pregnant or are talking about it say how HORRIBLE it would be to get stretch marks. That it would be SO gross. Hello...had them forever! Get over it! -
If you are anything like me, food has been a comfort for so long and this is more of a psychological journey than anything. It will all be worth it in the end when you are feeling great! I'd say the first 4-5 days are the worst, then you kind of turn a corner and it gets better. I think that these boards really helped me through that time!
-
Are you hungry? I really wasn't hungry at all and it was hard for me to get anything down. The nutritionist told me to just have the liquids whenever I wanted, no real rules until I went on mushies. It gets easier every day!
-
WOW...2 hours after. How do you manage to get in all of your water each day? Doesn't seem like that leaves you much time.

After having my first fill yesterday, I would say it is VERY risky to do your own fill. After the doc inserted the needle he had to wiggle it around about 5-6 times before he found the appropriate place to do the injection. I can feel the port right under my skin and thought it would be easier. Then, he kept the needle in and had me drink to see how much restriction I was getting. I think that it is a pretty fine tuned process that should be messed with IMO.

My doc says 20 min before and after. Each doc seems to have a different view on this though.

NSAIDS-- Do You Or Don't You....
travelinsnorkel replied to CallMeJim's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just had an appt with my doc yesterday and he said Advil is fine. Seems each doc has their own opinion! -
1. I want to be able to run without feeling like I'm crushing my knees...haven't been able to do this since I was in elementary school. 2. Kayak 3. Date a guy who is HOT 4. Hike 5 miles 5. Go up to guys in a club and dance with them. 6. Hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

Thank you! All went well! It was super easy!

I'm having my first fill tomorrow. I am not afraid about the pain or anything like that. I think it is more that I am scared that I won't be able to keep anything down...did not like the feeling of sliming and PBing, it was kind of scary! I guess that that must be what I'm anxious about, or just fear of the unknown. I'm sure it will go fine, just feeling nervous right now!

How's the lap band trip going for you? I get my first fill tomorrow...aaccck!

Silly abbreviation question

Ok, I keep pretending I know what this means, but what is a DH? I'm assuming it means husband or something along those lines, but I can't take the suspense anymore! hehe -
Did everyone have to go on a diet before surgery?
travelinsnorkel replied to MissMe27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no pre-op diet, just was told not to gain weight. -
Anyone else watching Jackie's story on TLC? Heartbreaking! Reasons to get healthy and lose weight so you don't get to that point!

Daily Plate Food Diary question
travelinsnorkel posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the Daily plate for my food diary and I love it except for the fact that after 7pm if you add any food it is already on the next day. Almost every day I have to go back and switch the food that I add back to the current day, which it is now saying is yesterday if that makes any sense! Does anyone know how to change this? -
Any October Bandsters!??!?!
travelinsnorkel replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist told me to back off the liquids and mushies and eat things that are more bulky to keep me full longer. Things like cucumbers with hummus, meat, fish, etc... -

I can't wait...I get my first fill this week! I hope it gives me back the restriction I had after surgery. -
Help! I need some encouragement...
travelinsnorkel replied to gonnaloseitall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there...day four was the turning point for me. I couldn't get up on my own until then, then all of the sudden I was a ton better and was able to stop all pain meds. Good luck! -

What's everyone eating on Thanksgiving?
travelinsnorkel replied to Catherine55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Mom just asked me last night if I had any special requests. I said I would have the turkey with gravy to not make it so dry, a little stuffing, and some veggies. I will have recently had my first fill so I'm sure I won't be able to eat too much.
