    Sick so no fill...

Unfortunately the doc is off next week. I'll make it through though, just have to be tough! I'll definitely look for the meds you recommended. Fortunately I haven't vomited or anything yet...let's keep our fingers crossed!
  2. I went to get my second fill today, but since I've been nauseous the past 2 days and might be coming down with something, he wouldn't do it. I know it is for my own health, but it is going to make the holidays a TON harder. I've been able to eat a lot the past few weeks and was really looking forward to my fill. Oh well, I'll just have to work and work out that much harder!

    Virus or band problem?

Saw doc today...he wouldn't do my fill because he agrees it is most likely a virus. Oh well. Tis' the season!
  4. I am really nauseous today. No pain anywhere, just the nausea. I see my doc tomorrow for my second fill. Any thoughts on if this could be a band problem? Or would I have pain or something with that? I am able to get food down and keep it down fine. No sliming of PBing. And, if it is a virus, should I cancel my fill?

    Your food plan of choice.

I eat low carb partly because I am diabetic and partly because they are my real weakness. I find that carbs beget carbs and I can't stop!

Slime and froth and getting stuck

From recommendations on this site I tried doing the downward dog yoga move when I got stuck and it worked and made me feel better a lot more quickly...Good luck with everything!

    the biggest loser (7)

HAHA, I was thinking the same thing about Heba. I think Amy...dark haired one looks the best! I wish she hadn't gotten sucked into the drama. Vicky is the devil. She better not win!

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

We were banded the same day! I am about to have my second fill Friday and I have the same problem. Some days I could keep eating and eating if I wanted to. Other days, like yesterday at lunch I could barely keep anything down. As many on here say, the band is fickle and hard to understand sometimes. I guess we just have to keep strong and adjust accordingly! Good luck to you.
  9. Yesterday I found myself getting down about things. I've been banded for 2 months now. I am happy about my weight loss and am looking forward to my second fill. Although I am very happy about this, I think that I had some deep down expectations that I didn't realize that I had. I think I expected a big life change right away. Again, I KNOW this is unrealistic, but I thought I would lose the weight, find a man, get married, and have kids like right away! Ok, I don't mean RIGHT away, but I was feeling down yesterday and I think that that is the root of it all. I was totally prepared for a slower weight loss and I am feeling really good about that end. I guess that I thought that there would be a quicker life change. Again, I KNOW that this is totally unrealistic, but I just needed to rant a little and come to terms with things. Thanks!

    So many variations!

I had some of the same concerns, but I just do what my surgeon tells me because he must have his reasons for things. Until something goes wrong, I am just going to follow his instructions. Like, he says coffee is fine, others don't. At first I worried about this, but why would he tell me to do something that will hurt me?

Did anyone get RASHES post op?

I am allergic to band aid adhesive, and sure enough was REALLY allergic to the steri strips. I had to put benadryl creme on the rashes around each incision. It itched like mad, but got better when I started doing that! Good luck
  12. I have been banded two months now and started my workout routine last week. Sometimes when I am doing things it hurts in my right side, not really where my port is, further out near my side. I am definitely going to ask my surgeon about it when I get my fill next week, but thought I would see if you all think I'm doing too much, or if it is just my muscles tightening up. It doesn't hurt much after, just off and on during the work out and then a little for the hour after.

    Holding a grudge...

I worry about the same issue. Having done the online dating thing for some time now, I see all of the guy who list that their matches must be slim, athletic, and sometimes, but not always average! Hardly every do they indicated that they'd want someone who is a few pounds overweight and especially no one who is large. I would say that the people I interact with in general don't care about my weight, but in the dating scene it is a big factor and I worry that there will be resentment when I get thin, but I also can't say that I am without judgement of others, so hopefully things will just evolve as I get thinner.

First Fill-No Restriction- should I go back??

My doc says I can have a fill every 4-6 weeks. I am scheduled for my second fill next week. I have noticed that in the past week I feel a lot more restricted at breakfast which makes it hard because I am pretty hungry by lunch.
  15. This one is a little hard to explain, but I went to a very preppy, private college. So, Freshman year I was a bit of an outcast on my hall of preppy, skinny guys and girls. Each of us had a bulletin board on our room doors that had a list of activities that you would put a push pin on what you were out doing at the time. I came home one day and someone had obviously pushed my pushpin in and out of the space next to the eating activity. It was very hurtful and I was honestly scared to walk down the halls without being made fun of. I would take the side stairs to avoid the people on my hall. Fortunately, I met some wonderful people and was able to room with them sophomore year, but Freshman year was a bit hellish!

    Psychiatric Medication

Hi Nanook, my shrink said the thyroid being off could definitely contribute. Cymbalta helps with my anxiety too. Everything else, Lexapro, Effexor, etc made me more anxious or wigged out. MD and DC are definitely stressful to drive in, but never had a problem before. I'm hoping it will go away soon!

    Fill Question..

At my first fill a little over a week ago the doc had me sit up with needle still in my port and drink some water. He asked me if it felt like it was backing up in my throat or if it was kind of painful in my chest. At the point that there was a little backing up in my throat I told him so. However, now I'm wondering if I was being too cautious. Can anyone describe the feeling you have drinking the water when you have proper restriction?

    Psychiatric Medication

I have both anxiety and depression. My Mom has commented that my mood has seemed better since my surgery last month, but I feel like I've been more easily annoyed by others. I think this might be hormonal. I'm on Cymbalta which is one of the few meds that I can take without crazy side effects. My anxiety mostly comes out at night, so I take Klonopin then. I was also diagnosed with Hypothyroidism a few months ago and am on meds for that. In the past month I have had this weird anxiety when I'm changing lanes while driving and pulling out of parking spots. My psychiatrist said that this could be due to my thyroid...weird! My depression definitely gets worses in the winter with SAD, so I try to get as much sunlight as possible. i can start exercising without restriction this coming week and that always helps my mood too!
  19. I had my first fill about a week ago and I feel I was more restricted before it! I definitely am not restricted right now and I am starting my snacking at night, which got me here in the first place! I suppose this is bandster hell! I can get another fill after 4 weeks, but as I'm sure we all do, I wish I could get one now!

    Hungrier after fill?

I just got about 50 emails from the site so I guess the problem is fixed! hehe

    Hungrier after fill?

Yeah, it is tough. Thankfully, I am able to start working out more this week, so I'm hoping this will help! This is really weird...all of the sudden I'm not getting email notifications of new posts from the forum, just as a side note!

How did everyone do at Thanksgiving?

Sounds like most of you did really well! I was shocked when I weighed myself and had lost another pound despite the holiday. I start working out more this week as I'm 6 weeks out and I'm hoping the pounds will start coming off a little faster!
  23. I didn't do as well as I would have liked today at Thanksgiving dinner, but DEFINITELY ate about 1/4 of what I would have eaten had I not gotten the band so I am happy with that. Also, I exercised before dinner and am planning a good workout tomorrow. I only brought home a little stuffing as a leftover so I won't continue to binge. I hope that the rest of your had good luck and did well!
