Any 2017 60'ish sleever's out there?
niseys4 replied to RoseinAZ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello everyone! I had my surgery on Aug. 16th. Im 4 wks post op & have lost 22 lbs so far. Oh and im 62. The only problem that recently started having since im now on pureed foods is getting in my protein & water! When i was on full liquids I did really well! I was drinking Premier protein drinks most of the time & using unsweeten Pea powdered protein to mix in my puddings or yogurt. But now Im finding it difficult to drink the premiers. They seem to make my heart fludder of to beat hard. I even had problems with the brand of chewable vitamins( BaractricPal) it started taking. The liquid vitamins (Baractric Advantage)worked really well but its too expensive. Thank goodness my surgeon said its ok to take tablets or caps. Now I just have to find a better protein sourse. Any suggestions? Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app -

niseys4 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was orginally scheduled for surgery on November 1st but unfortunately/ fortunately there were some cancellations & I was moved up to August 16th! Now I don't know to be excited or nervous!😌 -
Becareful cause this stuff, even though it works, can raise you Blood Pressure due to its high salt content! Well thats what it dic to me anyway! I know not all are the same but its good go be cautious especially if you've had BP problems or heart problems in the pass! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app

Hello! First of all sorry your having BM problems! Im going on 4 wks post op & i too have not taken my metform since the day b4 my surgery! Like many others I use Milk of Magnesium & Dulcolax Pink. For me the Dulcolax is a bit harse. But you know what has help me for years to a BM was simply drinking my 16oz of Folger Decaf coffee with international creamer every morning! Im also one of a few who has no problem drinking my water except it has to be flavored because for some reason plain bottled water hurts my stomach. With it flavored I can drink up too 48 oz a day when I time it right. For the coffee have you heard of Rocket Fuel or Bullet Coffee? Its basically hot decaf coffee with protein powder mixed in it along with other ingredients. You can find the recipe on Pinterest. As to the straining, as mention earlier is not a good idea cause you dont want to pop a staple or cause a leakage! My Dr told me that once I started to eat (I took it to also mean soft pureed food too) is when I can add Benefiber & start taking my Probiotics again. I use the Healthy Shape Benefiber. I mixed in my food & protein powdered shakes. Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app

Hello! My doctor prescribed Omeprazole which is a prescription strength Prilosec. I take it 2x a day starting the day I got home from the hospital. That was Aug. 16th. I havent had any problems with reflux! Well unless I over eat but there was pain or burning feelings. I tell you what though, I dont over eat anymore now that I know just how much food my little stomach can handle! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes Ayanna, pinterest has alot of Bariactic food meals for each stage of your Journey! I also found a cookbook on Amazon for about $11 called simply "Baricatric Cookbook". It was written by a Bariactric spealist ( think a sugeon. I dont remember) the recipes are also for each stage of your meal plan. From the Clear Liquid diet to when you can start to introduce solid foods back into your diet! I hope this was helpful for you! Best wishes! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app -

Hello! Yes, I felt really tired just walking around my backyard for 7 mins 4 days post op! On day 3 I made the mistake of thinking I had the strengh to do a little mall shopping. I only went to 1 store & after an hour I had sit down for 10 mins before heading to the car! Yeah, I found out the hard way that just because I went to the gym regularly & lost 12 lbs before my surgery Im No Super woman! I am now 2 weeks post op 16 lbs down & I listen very carefully to my body! My doctor gave me the ok to go back to my water aerobics class next week & said to take it slow & pay attention to what I can & can not do! He said, "Don't Push Myself just yet!" For me, once I was able to eat pureed food my energy level has gone up some! I think being on a liquid diet make you more tired! I had to put some Matcha Tea in my protein drinks just be able to do my walking! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app -

Hang in there! Im sure a lot of us felt the way u do! I know i did! I was sleeved Aug 16th & surprising to me, lost 15lbs already. Im just 3 lbs away from beinging out of the 200s but I feel scared that once im able to eat food again I will gain those 15lbs back. Slowly but surely! So I made an eating plan that I hope will help me plus I will be attending,in person,a support grp + a healthy balance support group! These class are offered thru Kaiser & they're free! The Healthy Balance class has helped me to loose the weight I needed to loose before my surgery so I figured the support group will help also! I also look forward to getting back to my water Aerobics class! So hang in there because once you see your success, no matter how large or small, you'll automatically Won't want to go backwards![emoji3] Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app -

Dear Pumpandready When I first got home & weighed myself & i was 6 lbs heavier than when I went in! I almost felt down & frustrated till I remembered that I was full of gas, water, & anathesia. I continued to drink my fluilds & fortunately I was able to drink more fluids than expected which helped me to pee & bulch! That was a great relief! But then I started taking Milk of Magnesa ,as directed on the bottle, that helped a lot with getting rid of the gas in the form of BMs! By day 7 I weighed myself & I had lost 13 lbs. So hang in there! Be patient cause everybodies body is different! Yours will come & you'll feel so proud of yourself![emoji38] Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app -

I use premire protein drink ! Its way better than powder milk! I remembered my mom use to use that stuff when i was a younster. That was back in the 1960s! Thats how far back that product goes & its still Nasty! I noticed on this forum that everyones Dr is different. For example I am 5 days post op & i can eat yogurt. Jello, cottage cheese & cream of wheat! So far Ive only eatten the greek vanilla yogurt, the jello with protein power added to it & sugar free popsciles! I hope all goes well with you & will have much success! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app -

Hello Dandelion 247! I too am 4 day post op & im experiencing simlar feelings as you are. Most of the pain I feel ,from reading what you said, is most likely from where the extra stomach was pulled out. I find that an ice pack for about 5-10 mins helps. But over all my pain has been tolerable enough I dont have to take my Norco but since i wake up at night with a pain that feels like severe hunger pains, i think tonight before bed i will take some. Hopefully i will be able to get a good nights rest! Today I managed to get down a little more than 24 oz of water & 60gs of premier protein drink. Plus I had 4 oz of warm chicken soup. Since I able to eat yogurt & cottagae chesse. I might try those tomorrow. Im glad you mention that being patient & not letting this be a weight loss race. That good advice. I convinced myself to only weigh 1 week at a time. I weighed myself yesterday just out of curiousity & im down 8 lbs since the day of my surgery! I want make sure i slow down some so my skin wont get to flabby before i can get back to the gym! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app -

Im glad your doing better! I too have a cough with a lot of phelm but it didnt start until after my surgery! They gave a breathing machine im suppose to use every hour! But i only use it once a day cause it seems to make me cough more & thats painful. Milk of magnesia was a wondeful tool for me! I was able to get rid of a lot of gas that way. I think I just need to bulch more! Ive been able to most of my liquids down with no problems. Today i got down 24 oz & 60g of premier protein. But im taking it slowly though. I make sure I walking around my huge backyard until I get a little tired. About 5x. Tomorrow Ill try to add 1 more lap to my walking. Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app -

Hey has anyone experienced coughing or hick ups afer yoursurgery? I was given a breathing machine that. Im supposed to use every hour to help prevent pnemonia after surgery but when i did my last breathing test at the hospital they said my lungs were clear & that my Cpap machine will help a lot too with my breathing. So last night I used my cpap & slept pretty good! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app -
