  5. Hello Sis! How did your surgery go? I had my surgery 2 months ago now & doing ok with my eating & weight loss! St Bernardino Hospital was great. The nurses were very nice & attentive! They called me there star patient, I guess because I started my walking 5 hrs after my surgery. I did cause I thought it would help me go home sooner but Im glad I stayed the full 24 hrs. My starting weight was 210! Now Im down to 191, yeeeh!!! However My weight loss sometimes yo-yo but I think it has to do with constipation! Ive increased my veggie intake & use Benefiber along with a good probiotic. So far, so good! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Im having my surgery on Aug 16th @ St Bernardines & I just wanted to know how I would be cared for both before & after my surgery? Especially since my DPA card stresses No Blood transfusions! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app

  8. Hello I'll play too: Bkft : sometimes a 16 oz C of Rocket Fuel( protein powder, decaf coffee, tsp of coconut oil. Or i might have 1 large scrambled egg & 1 microwaved bacon. Or 12 oz of Isopure whey protein isolate with flavored water. Lunch: left over dinner. Usually chicken & some veggies Dinner: chicken breast either grilled or boiled, cauliflower rice, broc or spinach Snack: Quest protein bar I get 50-74g of protein, 575 cal, 48g of carbs or less, & 20g of fat. Ill log a more exact of what ill eat for tomorrow on this page! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Hello! Thank you for talking about Keto diet! B4 my surgery i bought a keto diet cookbook but i only tried some of the smoothie recipes. I am now a 7 wk post op sleever. I still love to have my cup of decaf coffee with flavored non dairy creamer. I use International Delight. But in order to get my protein in first thing i added 1 scoop of Isopure zero carb protein powder in my coffee with a Tsp of coconut oil (ie: Rocket Fuel). Im unable to drink it everyday just on the days I dont go to the gym. Thats because the coffee is like a laxative for me! I like the keto diet idea but measuring Macos or calculating my fats & calories seems so confusing! I think the easiest thing for me to do is just to follow the recipes in the Keto for beginners cookbook & log what I can eat on my FitnessPal App & let it do the macos thing for me! By the way my 1 of my daughters started doing the Keto diet again @ 5 months post op & is doing great with her weight loss! She had the Gastric Sleeve also! I would like to continue following this topic to learn more about keto dieting after WLS! Thanks again for opening up this disscusion! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app

    Blurry eyes after surgery

Wow! I had the same problem with my eyesite! At first I thought it was my glasses but when I took them off to look at my TV it was worse! B4 the surgery i didnt have to use my glasses but after surgery I did! I thought maybe it was the meds the Dr has me taking but fortunately its better now! 11. Oh I love the Que7st protein bars! I buy mine from Winco where they are only $1.98. Every where else I found them were from $2.49-$3.00! Winco sells a nice varity of the bars as well! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. Oh yes, this isopure has 50g of 100% whey isolate protein with plenty of bcaa which is good since my restictions on exercise has been lifted . so I'll be doing a bit more weight lifting to firm up my skin. But be careful because it has 210 calories per scoop! So I split my doses in half. I before the gym & the other when i get home! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. I resently bought some Isopure creamy vanilla powder from GNC due to the fact that my stomach started to reject the Premier protein shakes. In the beginning they were fine but by wk 4 they started to make me feel kinda sick! I tried Pea unflavored protein powder, mixing it with my hot cereals or scrambled eggs but that didnt work either! Finally I bought a small bag of the isopure mixed it with my flavored water & havent had any problems with it yet! Yeeh[emoji3]. So now I ordered more in a different flavor to see if it will still help me get my protein in for the day & wont make me sick! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app

    Stevia....yay or nay?

Monk fruit is not an artificial sweetner! Its real natural low calorie sweetner made from the Monk Fruit! It sweeter than Stevia & does not mess with blood sugar's at all!
  16. Hello OmaJ The name of the cookbook is called "Fresh Start Bariactric Cookbook" by Sarah Kent. I hope this book will be helpful to you as it is for me! It has recipes from all stages of eating. Like the Liquid to Full Liquids, pureed/soft food to the last stage of general eating. Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. Thank you for your encouraging comment about the sex drive. For pureed food I just puree whever is good for dinner! Breakfast & lunch is usually my protein shakes. For my snacks I chew scrambled or poached eggs with turkey sausage. But if im away from home & get hungry I'll go buy some low sugar baby food! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. At 5 wk post op I just started to puree the meals my daughter or I would cook! Stuff like chicken with veggies, cauliflower mashed potato. Cowboy Casserole with cauliflower cheese tater tots! Now that im a few days to reaching wk 7 I still like to puree my foods only because it mixes the flavorings of the seasonings that I use so well! Yumm! Tastes so Gooood![emoji6][emoji16] Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app

    Stevia....yay or nay?

Hello Everyone! Im only 7 wks post op & i tried liquid & powdered stevia, both tasted awful to me & would have a terrible after taste! Then I read about all natural Monk fruit. It comes in powder form either in packet or in a bag like cane sugar! It has a wonderful sweet taste with no after taste. Only problem is that so far I can only find it in Sprouts farmers market! 20. Hello! I bought a bariactric cookbook from Amazon. I tried the cottage recipe which called for sprinkling a little homemade Taco seasoning(recipe for the taco seasoning is in the book too) & it was pretty good! So when my daughter made tacos for dinner I used that recipe to help curb that desire to eat what my family was eating![emoji4] Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app

  22. Yes! But Oct 4th is just 2 weeks away! Hello All you SBDN People! Im glad you found this site & this group! I was sleeved on Aug 16th. I was orginally scheduled for Nov. 1st but I called my surgeons appt # with Kaiser in Rdelands & asked if there were any cancellations. At that she said No but would put me on the top of the list for a call back. 2 hrs later she called me back with the Aug 16th date! So now I made my 5th week today & down 22lbs. Im 5'1" & 62 yrs old. My HW(heaviest weight) was 240 " SW( day of surgery weight) was 211 but the day after surgery I weight 216 becauxe of the gas & fluids + Anathesia. " CW ( current weight) 195 " GW (goal weight) 150 I wish all who havent had they're surgery yet all the best & hope we will keep in touch! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. I finally meet with my Kaiser Fontana surgeon after attending the WL class back in April of this year. Now I have to wait another 4 1/2 months ,Nov. 1,2017, to get my surgery! This is do to the shortage of bariactric surgeons & the high volume of people getting this surgery! Im not complaining of the long wait though because this gives me more time to firm up my skin on my arms & legs!

    Advice

I agree, you dont look sickly! My Sister had her surgery 8 month ago & she's getting the same Crap from her hubby! I call it crap because thats just what it is! Since you feel you look good then you look gorgeous![emoji4] Like it was mention our love ones & friends just havent adjusted to the new you as you have! So keep moving forward to reaching YOUR goal weight but if you have any concerns seek out a Bariactric doctor not a surgeon but a doctor who specializes in Bariactrics. They can help you maintain your weight or help you to adjust your diet if you feel your loosing too much weight! Other than that I think you are doing Great! Im only 1 month post op & only lost 22 lbs so far! So coodles to loosing 82 lbs!![emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122] Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. Another question I wanted to ask ( &I hope I dont offend anyone) I heard it said that after having surgery the sex drive increases! Now I know that may be true for the young people but is that true for us older ones? For me personally I dont feel any difference from before my surgery or after.
