No none at all. But then everyone is different. I’ve been lucky..no vomiting either. I think one of the keys is following surgeons orders about eating stages after surgery. I followed it faithfully to the day. I know of others who were eating things quite soon and eventually had problems. I just figured if I couldn’t follow the food stages after surgery then how was I going to do this for the rest of my life? Feel free to ask if u have questions and I’d love to know if u decide to go for it! Diane

I was sleeved last June at 68 and all I can say is GO FOR IT!😀. Surgery was fine...no pain just some mild discomfort. In June I wore 22/24 now I’m buying 12’s and some 10’s. Mentally I’m much younger and now my body is catching up. Feeling so much better about myself! Off all meds. Downside is getting everything thing in each day...water, protein, etc. This is very definitely an every day rest of ur life commitment for sure. If you’re thinking age is a factor, don’t ... you can do this!!!😀

You’ve just started ur journey...only 10 Days out...settle down and relax...you’ve just had surgery. There’s always consequences afterwards when ur body and brain are adjusting to this trauma. It’s not pleasant or comfortable but it does pass. No, ur not going to eat like u did before and that’s why u went thru this, u did this because u wanted to be healthier and look better which is now going to happen. I’m 8 mos out, started size 24 now 10/12 and feeling good about myself and so will u once u r over this healing stage. Believe me eating a whole sandwich, gulping down a drink is nothing compared to looking in the mirror and being proud of what u see. You don’t want to eat quantity any more but quality foods. The quantity is what got us to this point. One day ur going to b sitting with a group of people eating and watching all the food they’re consuming and realize u once ate like that but r content with ur small portion and smaller body. This is a major mind change but u can do it and once u c that new person in the mirror, hear the compliments, have to buy smaller sizes, and feel good about urself it’ll b worth it. It will all get better! Best of luck on ur journey

58 and getting gastric sleeve surgery
Sparklez replied to Gundy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got sleeved 7 mos ago today at 68. Recovery was a breeze no pain just a little discomfort. Regardless of how ur recovery is it’s well worth it! -
I finally found chewable AND tasty vitamins I actually like. Getting low and need to reorder only I don't know where I ordered them. Have looked on several sites I usually use but can't find them. They are the 3+3 chewable ones. They come in white packs with no writing on them in a big box (threw box away). If you know where I can order them please let me know. Thanks
-
Guess what I said was not clear. The vitamins came in a clearly marked box from one of the bariatric sources. I took all the vitamins out, which were packaged 3 chewable tabs in a plain white package, so they'd fit into my drawer. So after throwing the original box away I don't know the company I ordered them from. Believe me I would never take unmarked meds! Yikes.

I read on one of the posts that someone found a 0% sodium free broth but can't find it now. Does anyone know what brand/and where to buy it? My NUT told me to drink reduced sodium but still be careful as it could cause water retention.

I'm having a hard time getting 64oz per day. Now maybe I have this wrong thinking it has to be 64 oz of water. Could that also include popsycles, jello, soups, tea (hot and cold). So many of you seem to be getting in you liquids plus protein shakes plus food of some kind. Having a hard time with all this drinking stuff. Thanks

On the purée stage did anyone eat peas (canned or frozen?) and a avacados? Also beans can be puréed just wondering which ones. Thanks.
-
Thanks. Talked to my NUT today and said beans and peas were ok as long as really puréed and no (shells). Seems each NUT is a little different.
-
I know mashed potatoes are ok on purée stage but wondering what other veggies are good to purée.
-
I'm 4 days out and need a different taste or flavor of something. I was wondering if anyone had tried something like sugar free lifesavers? I don't need a sugar fix but juices/jello/crystal lite/teas are all tasting the same. So looking forward to Full Liquids...hopefully Monday. Thanks

How long did it take to shower after surgery?
Sparklez replied to Iwanttofitinmyweddingdress's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was just sleeved on Tuesday. Released yesterday Thursday) and dr said I could shower and wash my hair when I got home. He said to stand with my back to the water and just let it drip down the front...not to put direct shower spray on incisions. Took another shower tonight and no problems...felt wonderful! Oh, and also make sure to dry well especially under the 'flab' areas. -
Day 2. Totally amazing. Some back pain yest afternoon due to gas but went away in a couple of hours. Really no pain just a 'ache' where the 2 largest incisions are. Up and walking the halls and ready to go home in the morning! Having my gallbladder removed 2 yrs ago was worse than this.

It's 3:30 am ... need to leave for hospital in 45 min. Finally the BIG day is here! Excited with a tad bit of nervousness thrown in.

I have a list of vitamins/minerals from my NUT and I've been going thru catalog she gave me and I'm going nuts trying to find just the 'right' one. I see Fusion, Celebrate, Choice, etc and can't decide. Then I also need to take calcium citrate 3x a day. Then wondering if it's ok to go a little under or over amounts from NUT. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Can't provide 5 yrs of weight history
Sparklez replied to donnad0118's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Getting and waiting for approval is so nerve wracking and I feel for you. Each insurance co is different. Mine never had me document that many yrs. My PCP had me try pills so that was on record but then just listed I had tried WW, TOPS, etc. I sincerely wish you the best and hope there's no delay for your July date. Hopefully they will let one year slide. Good luck. -
Maybe this is a silly question but I one wk I'll be sleeved. Sitting here with so many thoughts going thru my head. Wondering if I'll miss my 'food friends'. No more sitting down with a bag of chips or slices of pizza...wings galore etc. I know these have been 'bad' friends and that's one of the reasons I'm where I am now. Thing is I could always count on them ... they were there if I was lonely, sad, stressed ... well you get the idea. I am positive about my decision and looking forward to the changes ahead in my health, appearance, self confidence etc. Can anyone who has already been sleeved had thoughts like this? Or those going to be sleeve? Thanks.

Normal not to loose weight on pre op?
Sparklez posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ok maybe I'm an alarmest or basically not eating making me edgy so hoping some of you can give positive advice. Started diet Monday and lost 4 lbs til Thursday. Fri and today no loss!![emoji20]. I am getting all liquids in ...water/protein drink and Health Meal etc for dinner. Tracking cals and protein. I'm allotted 1200 cal per day but doing between 850-950. Maybe this is normal and just knowing that would help or if I'm doing something 'wrong' that I can tweek. If anyone has experienced this it sure would help. Thanks[emoji3] -
Hi. I'm allowed 1 meal a day on pre op diet and have been doing the Healthy Choice etc but would like to branch out with my own food. Do any of you have suggestions? Thanks.
