Poll for Women Only *ADULT*
DiDi replied to DeLarla's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm appalled! It took me 30 minutes just to find this thread & at least 30 more to read. You are all sick & should be ashamed of yourselves. ;-P -
Just remembering this from the other day & made me smile again. Monday I went for my 1st fill & the nurse was telling my doctor that I hadn't had a pregnancy test (do they normally do one?) and he looked alarmed & asked me when my last period was & I told him was about 14 months ago. And he says "Oh my!why not? Is something wrong?". I respond that I am 50 & post-menapausal. He didn't believe me & had to look in my chart to be sure. He looked twice. Said I didn't look that old !!! What joy!!! He thought I was 10 years younger. Am still smiling. My favorite doc of all times.

what was your weight-gain pattern?
DiDi replied to vinesqueen's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was skinny all my life up to about age 30, stayed 120-125 lbs and 5'9". Met my husband in a white bikini (me not him). Got married in size 9 jeans. Then just steadily been gaining since. Went from 125 to 245 lbs in 20 yrs. Not sure what happened except got old & fat. Nothing really changed, have never been physically active. Guess it just caught up with me. So now at age 50 I am starting to exercise for 1st time in my life. -
I'd love to see the letter where you tell them you are farty! hehehehe
-
Great explanation. My doctor told me OK to drink before eating, but not during. And wait about 30 mins to an hour after eating.

DiDi is what my nieces & nephews call me. As for stripper name I was told you take your middle name & the name of the street you grew up on. My husband would be Hugh Galaxy, great name for a gigalo. Mine would be Eileen Harper, sound more like a librarian than a stripper. This thread is lots of fun. Come on, more more more.

Going WAY back in this thread: My mom didn't either. That's cause computers hadn't been invented yet! I vote for putting "adult topic" in title when appropriate, then no one gets surprised.

Way to go!!!!!!

My hubby was leary at first but after researching was all for it. He's very supportive. Now maybe we won't look like such an odd couple when out together, his skinny little self & my not-as-fat-anymore self!!

Ditto on Biotin. That's what I've heard. Good luck, and don't worry it should grow back. Besides, worry may cause hair loss. Just kidding.

I'd like to say that this site has helped me sooooo much! I researched on the web for a couple months, asked people that have had WLS or know someone that had it. Then I found this site & WOW I found out how many little things I still didn't know. When I finally went to the seminar, I asked so many questions the girl next to me asked me to hush! (I didn't.) I ended up staying 30 minutes after the seminar ended still asking my questions. And I think I was the only one there taking notes. I was the only person that brought up erosion, slips or other complications except infection. So I am also kind of baffled that someone would go through surgery without checking it out as much as possible, but if I didn't have access to internet and found LBT, boy I hate to ponder! My doctor & staff are the greatest & told me everything they could think of. Or that I thought of. Plus his website has tons of info. But still having y'all to chat with has been the most informative. It means more coming from people that have had the surgery & what it really feels like & what to expect. So thank you to everybody that asks & answers questions. But seems like bunches of doctors out there are not giving out enough info to their patients. Thanks to all.

DiDi replied to DiDi's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yes, I had no problem getting banded. Just wanting info on plastic surgery now. Sorry, I should have made that more clear. Thanks. -
I'm not lactose intolerant, milk, yogurt, ice cream all fine. But SlimFast does give me gas. So may be something else in it?? Fiber?? But I like it OK, am on liquids for a few days after a fill so can't do solid food yet...soon.
-
Just curious if anyone else had their first fill as soon as I did. Banded 1/25/06, filled 2/28/06. The office looked at calendar wrong & scheduled it before they should have, but when I got there the doc said would be fine & he went ahead. Normally he does it after 6 weeks. Plus he says full liquids for a whole week following each fill. But not hungry so guess is working.

I think age & general health may be a factor. Plus everyone's different. I had surgery on a Wed. & back to work the next Tues. Then I took 2 vacation days because I wasn't quite up to work yet. Of course I'm a geezer. I could walk around Ok, just wasn't really with it to concentrate for work. Let us know how you do & good luck!
-
Congrats! Welcome to the Land of the Banded.
-
W-O-W !!! Congrats. Please let us know what you decide on.

Oh yeah! I had many last meals. Mostly Tex-Mex. And steak. I start regular solid foods tomorrow & haven't got a fill yet so am scared I may start thinking that way again. Gotta hang in there!

Amy, glad its better now. Hope all goes good. Well, it looks like I may need to check out that book that was mentioned, sounds like it could help. Kare, thanks for your input also, I appreciate it.

Here's my 2 cents. I agree the husband should have caught these big hints about V-day. And I agree that it sounds like something caused husband to be upset that day also. So communication is in order. I also agree if you want something come right out & ask for it, however it seems she just about did that. Or if you want something, get it yourself. Sounds very sensible. But that never satisfies like someone else doing something for you all on their own to make you feel special. I too set myself up for disappointments all my life and still do. It's just not the same when you have to do it yourself. Sure you get the physical gift but there's nothing there to make you feel wonderful. Take for example, last week was my birthday. Not just a regular one, but the big 5-0. All I got from the hubby was a spoken "happy birthday" after I reminded him what day it was. No hug, no card, no note, nothing. He didn't even make coffee for me that morning like he usually does. He knew full well that it meant a lot to me. Oh well, some people are just insensitive jerks. I know not to even expect anything for Valentines. OK done with my pity party for now.

I like anything rock, new, old, the harder the better. Mettallica, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zep, Audioslave, the list goes on & on... Hey Randy! Where in the hell is coal in central Texas? Fairfield has coal???? And its about time you went to at least a concert or 2. My first concert was Paul Revere & the Raiders so you know I've been around a bit. Married a guitar player so I have to like music. Plenty of concerts to go to even if you don't like it as hard rock as I do. Come on Randy, take Joy out every now & then!!
