1/2 cup of food? I was banded in 1/08 and lost 25 pounds but now I've gained back 6 pounds through July, Aug and up to now. My dr. did an upper GI and everything is in place but my 10cc band is at 9.2cc and they will NOT do anymore fills. I can eat way more than 1/2 cup of food - protein first then veggies. I don't understand and I am so frustrated! Can anyone give me some ideas? I thought about going to another dr for a second opinion. Do you think my insurance would pay for that? Just needing some advice....

Anyone NEVER found proper restriction?
Kathyfrentress replied to Yvonne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So how are you doing now? I have 9.2cc in a 10cc band. I don't feel much restriction. I do pb occasionally when I eat too fast w/o chewing good. I find that I either can eat a lot w/o problems or feeling full or take 1 or 2 bites and start pbing. Doesn't make sense. I go Monday for an upper GI to see what's going on. I'd love to hear what you found out. THanks, Kathy -
How did you get your dr to put in 12 cc in a 10cc band? How does that work? I am 9.2 cc in a 10 cc band. They take out the fluid everytime and check the amount to make sure I don't have a leak. I have very little restriction. It's so hard not to get discouraged about it. I want to be one of those who get 3 or 4 fills and they feel restriction. My dr. actually PA said if this fill doesn't kick in they are going to do an upper GI and ck the band. Has anyone ever heard that a dr. may have put too large of a band on someone and had to go in and put a smaller band???

Need reassurance about when I will feel restriction
Kathyfrentress replied to michiganer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on January 21, 2008. It's been almost 6 months and I've lost about 23 pounds. I fluctuate from 20-25 pounds. Today I had .2 cc added. My band is almost full...out next step if I don't feel restriction is to have an upper GI and see if the band has slipped. My dr. pulls the Fluid out and then adds. I like that so I know its not leaking. I had a panic last week when I really thought about what was happening! I went through all of this surgery and needing the band to be a tool, but now I'm wondering if it will ever happen. I'm hoping for the best. I'm on liquids until tomorrow night. We'll see what happens. I've wondered if maybe they put a band on me that is just too big. If so, who is responsible for that? Will the dr. re-do and put a smaller band in?? I hope I don't have to deal with that. Anyway, I understand everyones frustration! -
Some doctors, mine included, are very conservative with fills. They don't use the floroscopy (sp) and they base everything on weight loss since last fill and how you feel. I wish my dr. would do it the other way and just get to it!! But, I have to say, with patience, you will get there. I am a 10 cc band with 8.0cc filled. I've had 4 fills and one coming up on June 23rd. I can tell I'm getting closer to restriction. So, hang in there!

I am 9 weeks post op and one day out of the blue I started having severe pain in the port area. I couldn't bend or hardly move. I was on vacation, so I couldn't see my dr. The next morning when I woke up I felt almost 100% better. Now 2 days later, I'm have some sharp pains again, but not constantly. I go for another fill in one week. I'm wondering if the port has loosened or moved. It is so weird. Any thoughts anyone???
