I soo frustrated, upset,scared.. Right now. Last night about 8:30 I got stuck BAD. It took 4 hours before I felt comfortable enough to lay down, it took 30 mins before I could even speak. I emailed Jeannie today and she just called me and told me "You know, we need to talk about why you are having so much trouble with your band." I didnt know I was having a lot of trouble. I had the flu or something a week after my surgery and then this. The reflux has really picked up right now and that is all. Im not vomiting or anything like that, just reflux. I still feel like I have something stuck in my esophogas though. I told her it is probably just irritation but I have to have a Upper GI tomorrow. This makes my 3rd one since surgery. Kyla, when you get stuck,if you get stuck, where do you feel it? Mine feels high like in my throat when Im stuck. I dont want this band out, I dont want an unfill, I just dont know what to think right now. All I can think to do is cry. SURELY he wont do anything major just for reflux, would he? Ive had bad reflux for several years now to the point that at one time I had esophogialitis (spelling).. Another thing is, I cant afford to do anything more. I already owe about $1700 in all my bills, and that is kind of hard to pay seeing I am unemployeed. I just dont know what to do.. I just want to go curl up and cry..

Dr. Adam Kaplan - Wish you luck.
Elizabethdb replied to Froggi's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Well mom had 3 months of diabetic training and they thought they could get by with that for the 6 months diet and just add 3 months with lindsey. Well turns out you have to have 6 months of exercise documented also. So she was doing the diet in the diebetic clinic but not documenting exercise. Plus, I had 2 Chinichillas and they were where they treadmill is and due to her asthma, she was unable to walk on the treadmill with the chichillas. Turned out that I also became very allergic to them so I had to get rid of them :tt2:. Anyway, she just had to do 3 more months and hopefully they will approve it this time. She doesnt know when she is going to have it done, she is hoping this month or next month. -

yeah for Froggie. They are turning my moms papers in Monday also. I keep telling her she has got to get off the coffiene now and start working towards the preop diet. She has done the diet once but was turned down, not they are trying it again. It only took mine to go through in about a week. Bad thing was, they sent me the approval several days before they sent it to Dr.Kaplan and I had to wait until he got all the paper work before I could do anything. I was like calling the office daily to get it set up. WVnascarfan. Sorry you are having such a rough time. I had A LOT of stomach pain and nausea after surgery also. Jeannie told me to try warm liquids. So I sipped on Hot tea and that actually helped. You may want to get some suppositories. I know they arent the most pleasant things in the world, but if you cant get the pill down, you should try that. I had a lot of dry heaving also. I know what you are going through. Take Care. -
Thanks, I will try to be there. Its open to everyone right? Jeanie doesnt have to tell us which ones to come to does she?? When is the next meeting?

I'm so depressed, I think this was the worst mistake ever.

just a little FYI incase you didnt know... Wendys 5 piece chicken nuggets 230 calories. That is WITHOUT dipping sauce. Sauce will add anywhere between 45-160 calories a pack depending on which one you use. McDonalds 6 piece nuggets 250 calories. Mcdonalds selects chicken strips 630 calories Chick-Fil-A Chicken nuggets,8piece 260 calories.4piece stips 310 calories Burger King Chicken tenders 5 piece 210 calories -
Surgery yesterday - confusing nausea and hunger?
Elizabethdb replied to SaraJaneQ's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Something that my doctor told me and it worked was to drink warm liquids. Like hot tea and stuff like that. It actually works. They told me that the cold liquids would irritate the stomach during that first week or so and to stay with room temp-hot liquids. After they told me that and I tried it, I could not go back to cold stuff, it would just make me sick and the warm liquids soothed my stomach. Just a little though. The pain in your left side is more then likely the gas they pumped your stomach up with and also the band messes with a nerve that causes a lot of left shoulder pain. Best thing to do is to keep moving and I used a heating pad also. Good luck :crying: -
Help! Showers...
Elizabethdb replied to fabnatsdiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on the type of closure they use on you to how long you must wait until you shower. Your discharge instructions should tell you if you have to wait or not. I had glue and steri strips and I was allowed to shower the next day. I didnt shower for 2 days though because I was too sick and weak to shower.. Just let the water run down your belly and that will be fine, dont rub it. If you have some betadine around your incision that you want to get of, do it very carefully. Shower should not be a problem, just dont do it while you are home alone just in case you get light headed or something. -
Ok I gotta brag. Even though I am not seeing a difference in the scale, my clothes are getting baggy. I put a pair of jeans on today that I havent had on since last winter, and you know when you put a pair of jeans on right out of the dryer you have to stretch them and do squats and stuff. Well at least I did, I didnt have to do that with these jeans, I just put them on and they are actually a little baggy WHOO HOO.. Its weird that Im not dropping the pounds, but my clothes are getting baggy. Maybe it is all in my head or something I dunno, but I think my clothes are getting big. Just wish the scales would show it.

Esophageal Spasm or Milk Allergy???
Elizabethdb replied to heartfire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would call your doctor and ask? If it IS an allergy, you dont want to keep exposing yourself to it, that will only, make it worse. Did you have any trouble breathing?? -
Hey if you want to get rid of you "fat clothes" I wear 24/26

You NEED to call CCMH billing to let them know of your plan or you WILL be turned into collections. I was making payments to them without calling them to tell them I was making payments, and they turned me in because it was deliquent even though I WAS making payments, they said since I didnt call to arrange it, then the payment was late and they turned me in.

I used to work in the hospital and we served these A LOT. Clear liquids are anything you can see through, broth, jello, italian ice, tea, crystal light... Full liquids are thicker and not clear. Pudding, cream soup, icecream, milk. and I have actually seen cream of wheat served on the full liquid diet. I wouldnt suggest eating that though, I tried and it made me sick.

I have been drinking out of a straw since day one. I havent had any problems. They even gave me a straw in the hospital.

You are actually supposed to let the glue come off on its own. It stays on there as long as it needs to be and then it works its way off. I use to work in surgery and have had many surgeries with the glue. It will eventually come off. The eraser puts you at risk of rubbing a sore, opening an incision, and causing an infection.

Dry Heaving 4 days post op!
Elizabethdb replied to Tamihott's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some trouble with neasua and dry heaving that first week. After about a week of doing that they changed my meds from Zofran to compazine. That seemed to help. You may want to call your doctor. You dont want that band to slip. Good luck -
Are you asking if we get weighed the day of surgery in a gown? Nope, the last weight put down when you go to the preop appointment is the weight they go by. Now are you asking if we have to put a gown on in his office and get weighed, that again is a no. Just in your clothes you are wearing on your back and it is your choice to wear you shoes or not. Once your insurance approves you, I dont think you have to worry about your weight.

Dr.Kaplan put the port right under the bottom of your right rib. If you lay on it just right, it will even rub your ribs, wierd feeling. Also you asked about the band size, it all depends on the person and their anatomy. I guess once he is in you and sees the size of your insides, that is when you decides what size band. I have an AP large band which holds 14cc. I think he puts, well at least with me, 3cc in the band in surgery. I bet you're getting nervous. You will do great. I know the other girl who is having surgery Monday with you. You 2 will be just fine. Just remember to get those liquids in after surgery, you dont want to get dehydrated.

I had an infection show up about 2 weeks after surgery on my leg. I ignored it and tried to self medicate it. A month went by and then it got necrotic (Tissue died) and was full of infection. I was on sulfa antibiotics for 2 weeks and it just kept dieing and getting worse. They then admitted me and put me on one of the strongest IV antibiotics treating me for MRSA. Well the culture came back "almost mrsa" if I would have waited much longer it would have turned into MRSA and then I ended up needing surgery to take out the dead tissue and the infection. Turns out that I had a brown recluse spider bite. But, I also got really sick from the infection and could have easily lost my leg if I would have let it go much longer. You are very right, you can not ignore these infections. Get them treated ESPECIALLY after surgery. They said my immune system was down due to having the surgery so I could not fight the infection off myself and as my doctor put it " I was too overwhelmed with infection" and that is why I ended up in the hospital for a week and having surgery.. I earge you to please use caution when you have a skin infection.

Im trying to get into nursing school, just getting the basics in right now. I want to specialize in neonatology. I know someone else who had to have their fills that way and then her port just flat out flipped over so she had to have a little surgery and get it fixed.

jennifer, unfortunatly I had been fighting a nasty and painful infection in my leg since Aug so no I havent been doing much exercise. I started school last week at Washington State Community College and I make sure I park in the back lot, and take all the stairs. Im usuaully huffen and puffen and my heart feels like it is going to jump right out of my chest by the time I get to class but that is it. Lets see, it takes about 10 min to get from my car to my class, then maybe 5 min to the next class, 5 min to the class after that and depending which way I go it takes about 5 mins to get to my car after that class so that is 30 mins, but I know that isnt good enough. Once my leg is completely healed I will really need to get going on the treadmill and stuff. kd, he does fills on Fridays?? I thought he only did them on Mondays. Saundra, thanks so much, I needed that.

When I went for my fill Monday, I told him that my port sticks out when I stand so he tried to fill it when I am standing and had no problem with it whatsoever. It was so nice to get it on the first try. You say you had yours done on the 30th of June?? I was just talking to a lady at the office that had it done that day, that wasnt you was it? This was my 3rd fill. I now have 6cc in a 14cc band. This week if the first time I have felt any restriction. I left there monday and just started crying due to no weight loss. I went out to eat today with my friend who had it done in March and she can eat whatever she wants. I could have cried right then and there, its just not fair.

You will have what is called an upper GI. You stand in front of an xray machine and drink a little bit of contrast, then they lay you down and you drink some more. Its not too bad. The contrast is gross but its not bad. If youhave ever had a CT scan where you had to drink contrast it is like that just a little thicker. Just a little warning, that stuff will either move through you extremely fast you may think its gas, use caution if you know what I mean. :tongue2: or it could set up in you so make sure you get your liquids in.
