Man, Im glad I didnt have to pay anything up front. I would have never been able to have the surgery if that were the case... NO jewelry for EGD either. Comfy clothes if you want, your just be a little drowsy that day.. Jeannie will be going over all the post op stuff and you will sign some papers and stuff like that. Lindsey will go over the post op diet with you... Jennifer... Thats tough!! I have been CRAVING sweets. I have yet to have one of Holls Apples or Mrs Prindables(spelling) from QVC.. Mom has had them, but didnt share with me lol..Im glad I dont work at the hospital anymore because MY GOODNESS doctors send ALL kinds of candies, fruits, foods, not to mention the Cheeseballs from the management... So hard to turn that junk down at times.

Wear something comfy. Take some house shoes or something to walk around in, you dont want to walk in a hospital barefoot,GROSS. NO jewelry. Dont take anything of value, the hospital is NOT responsible if it gets lost or stollen. I took my teddybear. Kaplan made fun of me, but oh well, she was with me through my 10 day hospital stay and surgery last year, she was with me for my lapband, and she was with me for my spiderbite. I made her . You might want to take something to do if you are not one that can just sit and watch TV. Maybe even take some PJs. Once they take your IV down, you can wear whatever you want to. You will do GREAT.. Mom will be a week out THursday and she started on Full liquids yesterday. She is doing GREAT. She decided she does not like protein powder so she is just sticking with slim fast lol. I will be at Jeannies at 12:15 Monday for a fill, what time will you be there?

Are you guys talking about paying the hospital upfront or Kaplan?? I didnt have to pay a cent up front, if that were the case, I would not have had the surgery done because I couldnt afford it.. Now my insurance pays 100% of Camdens fees I just have LOTS of bills from everything else like anasthesia and kaplans fees and all that crap.

I didnt have to pay anything upfront

Froggi, how did your appointment go?

Oh my goodness I drink way more then 60oz a day. You know those mugs they give you at the hospital? I will fill that SEVERAL times a day along with a large tea in the morning on my way to school and then 2 bottles of water while Im at school (4 hours) So its not the water, I eat salads, not everyday but almost..... Mom is doing GREAT! Kaplan asked her if she thought she could have done it as outpatient and they both agreed she could have. She is getting plenty of fluids. I keep getting onto her though because she hasnt had a BM since before her surgery and she has that barium in her. She has a bum left shoulder so it is REALLY bothering her now since the surgery but that is really the only pain she complains about, shoulder, arm and neck. I think she will be eating before 2 weeks.

Ok this is a kind of personal question for all you who have already been banded.. What do you do to keep regulated???????? I have NEVER had this trouble before, I use to be able to go at least 6 times a day now Im not even going once a day. I started Miralax Thursdaybut have not seen any results yet. Im even taking that Miralax with Apple Cider. LOL, I have already drank a 1/2 gallon of cider in a week and NOTHING.. What is it about the band that does this to ya?? Thanks Elizabeth

Froggi, if I could think I would give you the number, but I cant think of it. Usually once it is scheduled, they are good at calling but since you are on a time limit, Monday after your appointment, give his nurse time to officially schedule it and then call the hospital to set everything up :rolleyes2:

Just wanted to let you all know that I am home from the hospital. They took mom to the Holding Area at 7:30 and back to surgery at 8:03, she didnt get out of surgery until 12:40. At one point I called over to Brenda and asked her when is it time to start to worry. About that time Kaplan walked out and talked to my dad and me. I got onto him for taking so long lol.. He said she did GREAT. She had a hernia that needed repaired and he ran into problems with instruments and that is what held it up. She is doing great. She is already drinking more then 30cc an hour. Thanks for the prayers.. I will keep you posted. She is now one of us :rolleyes2:

Froggi please listen to us DR KAPLAN, HIS NURSE OR JEANNIE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PAT. They dont schedule it, they dont call them, NOTHING.. His nurse will tell you the exact same thing we are telling you. YOU have to do it. Once your surgery is scheduled, THE HOSPITAL usually calls you to schedule it OR you can call scheduling yourself to schedule it. Kaplan has NOTHING to do with it.. Trust me, my mom use to be the manager over Same Day Care and the PAT people.
-
HUH????:smile2:
-
No, he has nothing to do with it... Call Scheduling at CCMH, I forget the number and they can work it out with you. I forget the number, the hospital number is 424-2111 then you can just asked for centralized Scheduling

That lapwork is different. All surgeries require labwork to be done no more then 2 weeks prior to surgery. They just make sure everything is ok, no infection, blood counts are fine and you're not prego. You will also have a chest Xray that day
-
You dont see one of his nurses. When you see him ,his nurse will come in the room to schedule your surgery, but from the way you talk, your surgery is already scheduled.. Once scheduled the hospital will call you to set up an appointment for your PAT (pre op assessment) and you will see a nurse from Same DAy care that day and have blood work and all the good stuff.

I just thought of something.. This is one thing that Dr Dunn said was one of my big stresser... MONEY.. I think he may actually have been right about that one. lol

Im half tempted to drop my insurance, I pay $450 a month to keep it and then they dont pay out all that great. I have $1700 worth of medical bills right now. I thought about just dropping it and using the ER for my PCP then I can just go to financial aide office and say I cant pay(because I cant) and they write it off. It stinks that people cant get good coverage if they arent working and they are expected to pay all the bills. Its funny, I will call the offices asking if they had any finacial aide because I am a full time student with no job and they ask "can you pay $25 a month?" I want to say back "What part of NO JOB dont you understand?!" Only one of my doctors, my PCP gives me a break and has me down for Insurance only, I dont have to pay co-pays. I wish everyone else was that way. Heck I owe Kaplan $500, but I just found out that I only have to pay $5 a month so that isnt so bad I guess. $25 a month gets a little much when you have several different bills.... *Sigh* I just keep telling myself that this WILL pay itself off, its all worth it. Then I look at my bank account......It sucks that people who are actually trying to do good for themselves can not get any assistance yet if I want to go sit on my butt and pop a kid out ever 9 months, I would get all the help I need... Whats wrong with that picture????

Ive never seen them turn down a surgery for a cavity. I know someone who has rotten teeth and they still did surgery on her. In all the surgeries I have had in the past couple years, I have NEVER been asked about my teeth other then if any are chipped or broken or have a bridge stuff like that. It is possible to break teeth when they intubate and extubate (put the tube in your throat, take it out) I have witnessed that happen before but not often does that happen. Like I said, as long as there is no infection, then you should have nothing to worry about. Did Jeannie say something about it? I noticed you said she looked at them.
-
That was wierd, I just tried to reply with a quote and there was no submit button everywhere. So Kyla, I was going to quote what you said but here is what I said instead lol I dont have co-pays. Well I take that back, it cost $20 for a PCP visit and $50 for an ER visit all the rest is a percentage that I have to pay. So do I still have to pay the percentage?

There should be no reason whatsoever that that would cancel your surgery. They dont even ask if you have any. I have cavities. Unless they are infected, infection could cancel but thats it.
