Good for you .. How long was that appointment? When this first started we went to a different dr. Dr. Dunn, and he had 4 hour appointments that was a waste of time
-
Once you see him you will know when you surgery is. You will have to have an appointment with Lindsey for the post op diet and also with Jeannie. When you go for your preop for your endoscope is when you will do all the blood work, I think. I didnt have to have an endoscope so my blood work was done the day of my pre op for my surgery. You will be on a VERY strict diet for 2 weeks before your surgery and if you dont follow the diet and dont lose the amount of weight they want you to lose in that time, they will cancel. Things are gonna get rolling and it is going to be fast your surgery will be here before you know it.

Would you go to a doctor who . . . ?
Elizabethdb replied to marathonmommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just want to let you know that the doctor around here just started doing them less then a year ago. I was his 8th patient to have it done. You first of all gotta build a trust for the doctor. Talk to people who have gone to him or worked with him. I have had little problems with this doctor. The thing is, we are all learning including the doctor at the same time. Being one of his first ones, he was really slow with my fills and stuff like that, now that he has many surgeries under his belt he is getting more confident and being more aggressive in the aftercare.. The doctor has to start somewhere. They usually go through extensive training before preforming the first surgery. We have 2 more doctors looking into doing the surgeries and they have been training for over a year now. Going to other hospitals and assisting with surgeries and stuff like that. Just thought I would let you know. -

Well my parents have the crud, The little girl I raised was sent home the other day with fever and all the crud, and I just got home from babysitting a baby that just got out of the hospital with ear infection, flu, and dehydration... I think Im going to suck on some zycam or something just to give myself boost

My parents have this nasty cold going around. They better not give it to me. Anyway, mom is having trouble not vomiting after eating due to all the mucous she is "swollowing" right now. "Knock on wood" I have not had it yet and I better not get it. A friend of mine, her baby is in the hospital due to ear infection, flu, and dehydration. I want to go but I dont because I dont want to be exposed. Thats mean, I know... Anyway, Hope you get feeling better.

Well I just got back from my appointment. I was scared half to death my heart was about to beat out of my chest. I was down 11 pounds since Dec. He was happy with that to the point he didnt want to fill me. He said Im right on track. He was very nice today. It was a great appointment.

What more info do they need? Dont worry about being a nag. I would keep calling unto you get some answers. Sounds like your insurance is being a pain also.

Hello Theresa. Good job on the weight loss and the size change . He can be such a grouch. He gets onto me telling me how important it is to be at the meetings and blah blah blah. I want to look at him and say, "You know, if you look at my records, you would see that I am there monthly." I know people who dont go at all and he has never gotten onto them, but then those people are not doing well with weight loss either...hmmm maybe there is a method to his madness.. I dunno. I think he needs to tone it down a bit. He is trying to be "motivational" but like I said before, he needs to learn a little about motivation. I go tomorrow and Im getting more scared the closer it gets. I think the shrink will be at the next meeting talking about marriage. I doubt I will go because like I said, Im as single as they get.

Thats wrong that he acts that way. He asked me once about exercise and I tried to tell him that I messed up my knee and it was swollen and all that crap, it is still messed up but Im exercising now, he just said, "So, you're not exercising" I just want to say "WOULD YOU LISTEN TO ME??" Jeanie said that this is his way of motivating people. He needs to learn something about motivation. Lets see how he feels when someone is constently getting onto him and telling him he is a failure and stuff like that when it comes to him doing surgery, see if that motivates him. Get real. I havent heard anything from her and I havent seen her at any support group meetings. My friend who had hers done in March, or was it may, she was the first, has only been to 2 meetings so far. Wonder what happens if you dont go to your required meetings. I have been going to them every month since October I think if not sooner so I should be good on my meetings. I wont dare tell him Im not going this month though not if he gets all nasty about it. I dont need this next one. It is for couples, Im as single as they come. BTW.. CONGRATS on the 6 pounds

I am already up to 5 fills and it has only been 6 months. Everyone is different with the fills. He is actually telling everyone 2 months for each fill but you can call and make your fill appointment sooner if needed. When he first started the program it was monthly, Jeannie doesnt even really know why he is doing it 2 months now. This is actually the first time that I have gone 2 months without a fill.. Come to think of it, my last fill was in Nov and my unfill was in Dec.. He is actually being more aggressive with the fills then when he first started so that may be why it is every 2 months now.. They will go over all this in your preop appointment with Jeannie Has anyone heard from Froggie lately?? Kyla, how was your appointment today? Was he nice? Im getting scared to go see him Wed.
-
So far I havent paid anything for a fill. I asked Jeannie without insurance how much it would be and she said right now it is about $90
-
I get my fill Wed and Im scared that I havent lost anything since my 6 month follow up with Lindsey last month which means he will yell at me and tell me how horrible of a patient I am and all that. I know Im ready for the fill but Im half tempted to cancel. I wish Jeannie would take over my care for fills and stuff. I was losing the weight and then when I started forcing the protein in, my weight hit a stand still, doesnt make since.

what is the syntha 6 powder? Someone told mom to try putting protein in pudding and you can taste it. Well today I tried it. I put half a scoop in, well it took 2 little pudding cups to absorb it all, but it wasnt bad. Tasted a little different but just tasted like cheap pudding so that wasnt bad, that is something I could keep doing.
-
I think I have tasted grape. I tasted the orange one and couldnt even swollow it. Too bad they dont have protein pills out there just pop one and there ya go. Im just scared that they will do my blood work and see that Im not getting enough and then take some fluid out of my band. I am FINALLY at a good spot, I really dont want it losened up. I go for a fill Wed, I am hoping he will put maybe 1/2cc in, dont think I could handle a whole cc but I dont know if he will or not since Im not getting enough right now. We will see

YEA whit, that 6 months will go by fast. It starts off slow then when your time is up you will say "wow, that went fast" I am also finding out that the 6 months was worth it. It gets you ready for the post op diet restrictions and all that junk. I have tried the protein bullets. My mom likes them, Icant stand them. Actually any protein supplement, I just get by the taste. Mom is going to make me some "kool-aid" and it will have Grape Kool aide, Grape G2 gatoraide, and then grape isopure. She swears you dont taste the isopure in it, but I dunno. I have to do something though or else Im going to end up with no hair. I talked to someone today that had the bypass 4 years ago and I was telling her I am having trouble getting the protein in. She told me she had trouble at first also but here 4 years later, she still hasnt gotten her hair back. Im trying. I noticed yesterday I was forcing myself to get protein in. Usually when I get home from school I crash and sleep for a while. Yesterday after eating all the protein I didnt nap at all, I actually came home and worked out on my Wii Fit (my legs are killing me today) and got all my homework caught up. I couldnt believe the difference in just 1 day of protein did.

3 more weigh ins...................and then I will be submitted to insurance ............course that also means 3 more months! 3 weigh ins means 3 months?? Do you not go twice a month? I had to go every other week. Hey 3 weigh in though, that is closer then you were 6 months ago:tongue_smilie: It will go by fast. Good luck!!! Well I think I may have hit my sweet spot FINALLY. I am averaging a weight loss of 2 pounds a week and I dont think I am getting enough protein though, my hair is coming out by the handfulls.. My next fill appointment is the 11th. Anyone else going to be there?
