  1. My rny surgery is scheduled for surgery 10/25 and I am supposed to start my liquid diet on 10/4, but I've decided to start it today because I had a few cheat meals last week and figured I couldn't hurt anything. Anyways.... is anyone else on a 3-4 week 800 calorie diet consisting of protein shakes, broth, sf jello and popsicles?? I'm finding it really difficult to feel satiated but I've stayed strong today. I did have some broccoli which I deemed was ok for now since technically I'm not supposed to start until 10/4 anyways.... how are you all keeping your sanity? Any advice? Also- I've noticed throughout the day my weight has fluctuated up 5 pounds which usually doesn't happen and I weigh myself constantly. It's obviously water weight but I'm hoping it doesn't stick around??
  2. Day 6 now.... but I did have a few saltine crackers and a piece of whole grain toast yesterday. I felt like I was going to pass out if I didn’t eat something. 15 days left to go. It’s taking all I have to stay strong but it does get easier as the days go by. I just keep telling myself I cannot eat anymore crackers or toast! As long as I stay strong these last 15 days I think I will be just fine. Just gonna drink broth til it comes out of my ears if that’s what it takes lol!
  3. Wow!! I wish I could eat off that list on my pre op diet lol. Tomorrow is my official start date but I’ve been easing myself into my 21 day 3 week liquid diet. Just protein shakes, popsicles, sf jello and broth for me... oh and water. Here’s to a long 3 weeks.... but sooo worth it. I’m excited to see what I lose but my surgeon said it may not be much it varies. Crazy to see how different surgeons have different pre op requirements
  4. I've been following a ketogenic diet for the last 3 months and have been pretty successful. My surgeon originally wanted me to lose about 30 pounds and I have lost 25 and he has been happy with me so far. My nutritionist did not suggest keto, I kind of just took it in my own hands to follow keto instead of the high protein low fat diet they recommended. My main question here is, if you followed keto up until you got close to your surgery date what did you do when you got close to surgery? Did you go back to high protein low fat, or follow keto right up until the pre op liquid diet? I'm not sure what I wanted to do. My surgery isn't officially scheduled yet but I'm probably looking at early October. High protein low fat and actually eating carbs is going to be so weird for me and I'm afraid I'll gain or stop losing if I start eating carbs. I know it isn't likely but when you do keto for so long you understand. So please anybody with any advice or peace of mind to give feel free!! Tell me what you ate when your surgery date got closer and if you began following keto at maintenance after surgery or if you did not go back to keto. Thanks!

  6. Well for one, I said my nutritionist recommended a high protein low fat diet. Not my surgeon. Never was looking for validation. I was simply asking if anyone had experience with practicing a ketogenic diet pre op, and if they experienced a change in their weight coming off of it. Plenty of wls patients use ketosis as a tool along with their surgery. Sorry if you've been misinformed that it is unsustainable, it's one of the best lifestyle changes I've ever made and has been great for weight loss, satiety and energy. Sorry to see you've had another bad day so you had to come on a Bariatric forum to be a bully. I hope things start looking up for you.
  7. Here's a thought --- how about you CALM DOWN. I asked advice on a subject that is widely known about in the wls community that you obviously have no knowledge of, so why bother replying? I am doing exactly as my surgeon told me, he told me to lose the weight and I lost it. Thanks for your negative input, though. You must have had a really bad day.
  8. I've lost about 15 pounds from my highest weight which was 377 back in April. I'm at 362 now and my nutritionist Pre op weight was already hit but my surgeon wants me to get to 340 before I start the two week liquid diet prior to surgery. My nut has me on a modified liquid as of last week to boost the weight loss because it isn't coming off very fast. Right now I'm doing a premier protein for breakfast with 2 cuties, same for lunch and then a high protein low carb dinner, ex. 2 oz tuna, 2 cups broccoli, an oz of Swiss cheese. I saw my surgeon on 5/18 and I was at 365, I'm only down 3 pounds since then and I see him again on 6/9. Anyone have a similar experience and have any other tips to shed a few extra pounds before I see him? I've also been walking about 2 miles 4-5 days a week with some stairs. This is all just so new to me and any advice or insight is appreciated!! I'm just afraid of what he may say when I see him next lol my anxiety is high since I'm cleared everywhere besides my surgeon!
  9. I am primarily drinking water but sometimes I do drink a Diet Coke on the weekend so yeah cutting that out would probably be best... and that's what I thought about the fruit?? But my nut put that in my plan.. but I guess I could cut that out and if I need to chew something have a cup of broccoli or another non starchy veggie??
