  1. It's a struggle for me.....I am one who eats for other reasons than hunger so I am struggling with this delimma......I am recently had WLS....my old habits are still there and I have to constantly fight the urge to eat...just to be eating!! I can't eat very much at a time so I tend to "graze".......I am very discouraged about this struggle I am having.
  2. I had mine removed several years ago....the pain attacks were terrible! No regrets having my gallbladder removed.

Old clothes? What did you do?

It is hard to "let go" of our bigger size clothes...I have "yo-yo-ed" so much over the years...going up and down with my weight, I keep thinking I have to hang on to all the different sizes. I have just started my weight loss journey and my clothes are already getting looser. My plans are to get rid of my "too big" clothes as I lose more weight......I Love to shop for new clothes! I am looking forward to not shopping at the Plus Size stores....but I still have a ways to go....... Good Luck!

To Tell or Not To Tell

I didn't tell but just a few people: a few friends who have had WLS and my family. It's a personal choice....

    Do I start over? Again?

My reflux was terrible!! I was put on prescription reflux meds because the OTC meds did not help. The sleeve is "notorious" for reflux issues. Even with the prescription meds I still had the reflux off and on. I have not had any issues with reflux since I've had the bypass.....such a relief! Good Luck!

    Do I start over? Again?

I had the sleeve done in Feb 2012 and never lost enough weight either! On May 30 I had a revision to ByPass. On the sleeve, I went up and down, highest weight was 252 when I had the sleeve (I am 5 ft 4 in so I am morbidly obese too!)....I could never lose enough to be in "onederland", lowest I got down to was about 212lbs.....over the years my weight went mostly up.....even though I couldn't eat very much at once, I tended to graze.....got up to 242 lbs and decided to get the bypass done. I had to self-pay my sleeve surgery. With my bypass, I also had a hernia repair so my ins covered a good part of the bypass surgery costs. I have lost 20 lbs.....and I started exercising again about 4-5 days week. "Starting over" and doing the bypass is a personal choice.....I felt I had to do it......I am a very slow loser....but I feel in a year from now that I will have a good success story to report! Good Luck with your decision! Melody
  7. No fast food for me either. Being from Texas my "weakness" was sweet tea! I drank it every day. Now I am drinking unsweet tea or with splenda in it. Even though I have had the ByPass, I have not had issues with "dumping" due to sweets....(I ate a cookie to see if it would effect me and it didn't). My food intake is restricted, but not as much as I wish it would be! I had a revision from sleeve to bypass and there is no difference in my food restriction as far as I can tell. My problem has always been eating when I am not hungry (or grazing) and this is something I need to work on or I will not have a successful weight loss.
  8. I need help with accountability and my struggle of eating.....I had a revision from sleeve to Bypass on May 30. In the past I have had 2 lap band surgeries....then lap band to sleeve in 2012....with not successful weight loss and recently the sleeve to by-pass. I have no issues with dumping......I ate a cookie to see how my body would react....nothing happened.....The only time I feel any type of discomfort is if I get too full...but it seems I can eat more than most folks who have had by-pass. I struggle with eating when I am not even hungry.......I have struggled with this issue for years which is one reason why my WLS have not been a success. I currently work out 5 days a week: both cardio and strength. I am 57 years old. The struggle is REAL for me.......I probably should seek some type of counseling because of my "need to eat" when I am not hungry... I feel do disappointed and discouraged that I will NEVER lose weight..... I have lost 20 lbs, but that was my initial weight loss right after my surgery....I have not lost or gained in over 4 weeks.....
  9. Different surgeon for each surgery..... Thanks!
  10. No judgment from me! I have just had my 4th WLS as well! I was banded in 2004, had slippage and issues and it was removed in 2005....lost about 30 pounds. Decided to try again with the band about 2 years later. I seemed to have the same issues as you: too tight or if full of liquids my eating was somewhat restricted but could certainly get down junk food! Lost weight, gained weight...up and down over the years....In 2012 did a revision to the sleeve....Lost 30 pounds and that was ALL I ever lost..Even though I could eat very little.....(I have had to self-pay for all of my surgeries)....On May 30, 2017 I did a revision from the Sleeve to Bypass......Have lost only 20 lbs so far....my eating is somewhat restricted but I do have any "dumping issues" so sweets are not a problem even though I have restricted them. I ate a cookie to see how my body would react.....No issues here. So I have to be extremely disciplined with my eating, otherwise I will not lose weight. I eat about 900 calories a day and am exercising 5-6 days a week. I do have a food restriction on how much I can eat at a time and have eaten too much already and it came back up! But I thought my stomach was going to be the size of a walnut after this surgery but I can certainly eat more food than the size of a walnut! Will see how my weight loss journey goes over the next 12 months!!

    Insurance won't cover

My ins doesn't cover wls either. The doctor's office that I used are also abdominal specialists/surgeons....I had an umbilical hernia that needed repaired so my approval for surgery was approved for the umbilical hernia.....with this being done, my out of pocket expense was very low....and I was able to get a "medical loan" to pay what I had to pay the hospital for the "extra" staff, etc. needed for the wls. This might be a possible route. Or just getting a medical loan for everything....a lot of the weight loss clinics have partnered with wls medical loan companies.....Some people also choose to go to a dr in Mexico, they charge less and anyone I have ever talked to who went to Mexico for surgery had a great doctor and a great experience. Good Luck with your journey.....I was in the same place you are now....I did a lot of research.....I live in the Dallas, TX area.

    Acid Reflux

I have been a sufferer of GERD for awhile (even before surgeries)...I had the sleeve several years ago and I suffered with GERD. I just recently had a revision from the sleeve to a by-pass and my GERD has greatly improved! I was told by my dr to continue taking my GERD prescription meds for now....but that eventually I will probably no longer have GERD. Good Luck!
  13. I like your determination and that you fully realize this weigh loss journey will not be without "hiccups" along the way. I completely understand the "mind over stomach" issue.....Too many times I have talked myself into eating something I should not have (instead of talking myself out eating something I should not have!).....I use to beat myself up when I made a bad choice but now I learn from it and tell myself I will work on doing better. Good job on the weight loss so far.......and Good Luck on your weight loss journey......We are all here for you so keep posting!

    Final weigh-in

I don't think they will postpone it.....I had only lost 8 lbs and mine was not postponed. Good Luck!
