Roll Call...All having a Revision From Band to RNY Come on In
Paula08 replied to Brittwoman's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Here is an update since having band removed. I had RNY surgery in Sept. and my insurance paid for it! SO WOOOOOPPPYYY!!!!!! I have now lost an additional 21 pounds. Since banding in March I have now lost a total of 58 pounds. I love how good I feel now. I wish I would have went straight for the RNY surgery as Lapband for me was not the less risky way to loss weight. I had an easy recovery only about four days of feeling yucky. I was back at the gym in fourteen days and back to work after three weeks. Im loving my life. Paula -
Dont lose hope. I was banded in March of 08 lost 40 pounds then band slipped. My band had to be removed in June. Now, Sept 8th I had LAP RNY surgery all approved. Im five days out from surgery and feel fabulous. If I can help in anyway let me know.

Anyone getting nervous before surgery?
Paula08 replied to southerngirl24's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery is in five days. Yes, at times I worry about what can happen, but that is when I remind myself of the alternative, staying over weight. Which in itself has great risks. REMEMBER, nothing in life comes without consequences. I think if you really analyze your situation you will find the WLS to be your better bet by far. It is only human to worry, but dont let it get in the way of making life changing decisions. I hope you find comfort in you choice before surgery. Hugs Paula -
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I am so glad that all is going well for you. I truly believe that moving right after surgery does help speed up recovery. I am going in for surgery 1 week from your date so its only five days away. I plan on be up and running in no time. Looking forward to be in the flip side of surgery. I hope you continue to recover so quickly. Your positive attitude can only help you. Hugs Paula

So sorry for your loss of the band. I can say that I definitely understand as i too lost my band during a surgery where my doctor tried to reposition my band. I was beyond sad when I found out it had to be removed. I knew going in that there was a possibility of removal but had kept my positive outlook and neglected to consider it may happen. Anyway, I have struggled too with my weight after removal. Fortunately, I am having a revision done in Sept. where I will be doing RNY surgery so that I can continue to loss weight and get healthy. Keeping weight of permanently has always been a problem for me so I felt it necessary to do something that would keep it off for good. Afer all the changes I made having the band, I think I can easily master what is needed for gastric success. I would ask your doctor about a revision as some insurances cover it. Hugs Paula

Roll Call...All having a Revision From Band to RNY Come on In

I had my band removed June 23, 2008 after it slipped. I had a great run with my band and lost nearly fifty pounds in three months, well 11 of that came of before surgery from working out at gym. Now, I am scheduled for RNY surgery on Sept. 4th and look forward to becoming a BIG LOSER. I have struggled with weight loss since my band was removed, but have not gained any. I have continued a good diet and regular exercise. Approval was sent to me on Monday, Aug. 11, and now I can stop worrying and focus on the important stuff. Hugs Paula -
Well, Im still struggling to keep the weight off after unbanding. I do have a new surgery date set for Sept. 4th for RNY surgery. Im keeping my fingers crossed that everything will go as planned and have better luck with RNY.

I waited eleven days before getting back on elliptical trainer after surgery. Just listen to your body when your working out and take it easy, start slow.

My goal this month has been to do three days a week at gym for two hours. I have been very very good this month.

Revisions? Anyone?
Paula08 replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am in the waiting game right now for having RNY surgery because my band was taken out June 23 after it slipped. I go in on Wed. July 30 to get surgery date, then more stress waiting for insurance approval. Dr. doesnt think that should be a problem but I will stress anyway. Hugs Paula -
You seem to see it for what it really is insecurity. He is scared to death that you are going to turn heads and then wont want him. Let him know that you would love to go to the gym with him after surgery. It would be beneficial for both of you. I wish my husband love the gym like I do, so if you have someone who will go I say DO IT! And reassure your man you love him for who he is and you looking even better isnt gonna change that at all. Hugs Paula

I lost my band after only three months. I too was devastated. I am waiting now to have RNY surgery if all goes well. My doctor will not reband me either. My band actually slipped and had a stitch that had come undone. I am doing all I can to not gain the weight back that I have lost but am finding it very hard. I go to the gym three days a week and that helps but my calorie counting has much to be desired lately. I lost my band June 23. Keep your chin up something will work out for you. Hugs Paula

You would run the risk of band slipping. It doesnt take much....
