    1 week out

I'm a few weeks out and not quite there. My intake has been quite slow. That being said, I have issues with nausea and vomiting which isn't so common at this point. But your intake seems pretty reasonable to me. Up to 4oz is what my office said for meals and that got you full. And it looks like you didnt have more protein until a few hours later, which seems to be good timing. This VSG thing really affects each one of us so diffrently. You may just be one of the lucky people who heal quickly and handle typical intake right away. I wouldnt be concerned but, if you are, you can always check in with your office and see what they say.
  7. These first few weeks are really a rollercoaster but I'm sure 6 months from now this will be a blip. The weight will come off! After all of the preparation and excitment for surgery it is hard not to see progress right away but it is coming. The weight will come off!

3+ months out, still have pain

I am only a few weeks out and was also wondering how long to expect pain. I'm a newbie but I would think all would be healed by 3 months. I would probably check in with your doctor to see if that is normal.
  9. I know rapid weight loss can cause gallbladder issues. For those of you who had to have your gallbladders removed, what were your symptoms? And how was the recovery?

    Is Actigall Necessary?

Ditto! - especially since mine is possibly problematic. Maybe it can help me avoid a second surgery!

    Gallbladder

Interesting! I only had ultrasound. Maybe if I ask for a HIDA scan it will give a better indication of how my gallbladder is functioning and if that's really the culprit. Never heard of a HIDA scan before now. I will have to look into it. Thanks!

    Gallbladder

Apparently you can have gallstones without them causing any problems. I've had them for years so I'm not sure if its what's causing the issues but I suppose I will figure that out once its removed

    Gallbladder

Thanks Joann454. I think I may let them move forward with removing and hope for the best!

    Gallbladder

Thanks Temkins and Berry78. I have consistantly read about the pain being the most common thing. I guess I am really trying to see if anyone improved after removing their gallbladder when vomiting (and/or diarrhea) was the only symptom. I'm feeling pretty bad and can't imagine doing another surgery right now if it won't help.

    Gallbladder

That's why I'm confused! I did feel some achiness in that area with certain foods prior to my pre op diet but nothing I would describe as pain and nothing since virtually cutting fats out since pre op dieting. But the vomiting is brutal. Since 10 days post op and seems to be getting worse. I'm so lost

    Gallbladder

I don't have the pain but terrible vomiting. Docs think gallbladder might be the problem (ultrasound shows its full of gallstones). Do you happen to remember if vomiting was an issue for you before it was removed? I just don't want to go through a second surgery, especially feeling like this, if its not going to fix the problem

    Gallbladder

I asked to have mine removed at the time of VSG surgery because I was told years ago it would eventually need to come out due to gallstones accumulating. I attempted to relay this to my surgeon through his staff but it was close to the time of surgery and it didn't really go anywhere unfortunately. Wish it had been taken care of all at once like you!
  19. I have had this since day 10 of surgery (sleeved 10/2). Everything (sometines even water) causes clear mucus like slime to come up. Mine happens with stomach spasms. Having major intake problems. How do we get this to go away?????

    Stomach Cramps after "Eating"

I was sleeved 10/2 and started getting stomach "spasms" about 10 days out which led to vomiting. Because my tolerance for liquids decreased, my surgical team suspects it may be my gallbladder which they confirmed is full of stones. Do you get any aching or pain lower and to the right of your main surgical site? If so, you may want to have your gallbladder checked.
  21. From what I understand this is true and it is theorized that reducing the stomach removes some of the offending hormones. Also, plastic surgery after WLS (like a tummy tuck) can help by actually removing excess fat cells, not just shrinking them.

    Surgery all done!#

It helps to hold a pillow on the sore spot and apply counter-pressure

    Help!!!! Help me please!!!

I have been having terrible vomiting since about 10 days post op (sleeved 10/2). I can barely keep down anything but water. Even thinned protein shakes are iffy. I am supposed to have been able to move to pureed food about a week ago and still can't keep down most foods from the full liquid phase. It is miserable! I feel your pain. My doctors think it may be my gallbladder, which is full of stones, but I don't have any pain. They are thinking gallbladder because I was able to tolerate things right after the surgery that I can't anymore. Does your tolerance seem to be getting worse or has it been equally bad since sugery?
