  1. Hi I use a CPAP as well. I didn't have any issues prior to surgery, but now my mouth gets cotton dry AND I end up waking up with my cheeks puffed out with air--crazy! My machine has settings from 8-20 so it can vary during the night as my breathing changes. . Last night I noticed I felt too much air going in my nose. I use the nasal pillows which have been very comfortable for the past 3 years. Mine has a humidifier which I can adjust and sometimes do. I may need to call or schedule with my sleep apnea physician and see what the issue is. As you know it is very uncomfortable to wake up with a cotton dry mouth! I also keep a glass of water on the nightstand--have for years. However, waking up and having to drink water 4-5 times per night because my very dry mouth wakes me up (along with other issues I mentioned) is not in any way a restful night's sleep for me!
  2. I had a bit of the same issue. I find that if I make some Crystal Light and mix it per directions then place in a large drinking bottle and sip at it; it works. I just keep the bottle near me and just take a sip every so often. Before long, the bottle is empty and I need to refill it. I never drank Crystal Light pre-op, but found that with the flavor choices, I have been able to find some pretty good flavors. The bottle is easy to take anywhere. Mine holds 30oz. I know just drinking plain water makes it difficult to drink the required amount.
