I just found out yesterday that I had a slip. I'm currently on here looking for answers too. Can you please tell me what has happened with you so far? They also called my slip minor but the doctor immediately suggested another surgery. I knew I'd read on here where sometimes it goes back in place after a complete unfill so I asked couldn't we try that. He said yes that we could, but that I'd probably continue having trouble until I get another surgery. Thanks for you help.

I found out yesterday that my band has slipped. I had finally got over my night-time coughing & thought things were going well when out of the blue last week I couldn't keep most things down. I went in & they removed a little & I could keep liquids down then but not all solids. They recommended revision surgery but I just hate to do that. We asked if I could just see if it goes back in place. He said we could try it but more than likely things won't be right until I have surgery. I'm wondering what happened with your slip?

I'm curious as to what your doctor decided on you to do for the slip. I just found out yesterday that my band has slipped. Very discouraging cause I felt finally like I was getting somewhere. My doctor immediately advised another surgery to repair the slip. I don't want to have to take more time off work & go through another surgery but I will if that's what I have to do. I asked him couldn't we just see if it goes back in place on its on. He said we could try it but it probably won't be completely right until they stitch it back in place. -
I changed from Advil Liquid Gels to Goodies Headache Powder after I reached a lot of restriction. It's the orange flavored so it's not bad. They also have a liquid Motrin that you can try.

Lap Band surgery seminar schedule That is a link to their webpage. It looks like they are now having their seminars at the Holiday Inn but support groups are still at Wadley. I used to go to them but now that they have one in Nashville I go to it. I really encourage support group meetings. I always leave feeling very motivated.

May I ask how you knew you had a slip if you are able to keep food & liquids down. I thought that is how you know when you have a slip. I developed night-time coughing & reflux after my last fill. I went back & they removed .2cc which was enough to make the reflux stop but I still am coughing a lot at night. I can still eat more than I feel I should be able to but am planning at my next visit to have them remove another .1 cc to hopefully stop the coughing. Like you I am completely able to keep food & liquids down, it's just that darn coughing.

I was banded just a couple of months before you & haven't lost much more than you. Our stats are also pretty close, I'm just a little shorter, about 5'2. I finally broke past a plateau a few weeks ago. I had been gaining & losing the same 5 to 10 pounds since last fall, weighing anywhere from 165 to 175. Started off this year working out with a personal trainer. Had to have an unfill because I got too tight then the doctor gradually filled me back up. I've gained muscle but the scale or my clothing size was not moving in the right direction. About 4 weeks ago I went for a fill. It again tightened up too much after a few weeks. Had to go back but this time they only removed .2 cc & I have restriction. I am at 7.0 fill on a 10 cc band. 6.0 gave me hardly any restriction. Finally I am under 160. Now my weight is fluctuating between 156 to 159. I know how my body operates & I'll probably plateau at this weight awhile but I honestly feel like I'll eventually get past this one too. Good luck to you too. Keep us posted.

Just wanted to say that the restart diet is on the NoScales blog page. I tried it a couple of months ago cause I had been on a several-month-long plateau. I lost 10 pounds on it but as soon as I added regular food back I gained the weight back. At the time though I wasn't on a good fill level, was still on the process of getting back to my level after an unfill. I think I could have kept the weight off if I had been at better restriction.

Do you need to lose those pounds you've gained?

lindata - I'm from Murfreesboro, in the SW corner of state. I use the doctors in Texarkana. Where are you from & what doctor do you use? That was interesting to know about the Doritoes. chips are definitely a weakness for me. I do, however, realize that I can just have a few now, whereas before the band I couldn't control the amount at all. I have finally broken past about an 8 month plateau. I kept gaining & losing the same 5-10 pounds & I have finally broke under 160. I was beginning to think it would never happen. My band had got too tight last week. I went in for a tiny unfill. We went camping over the weekend & I knew I wasn't able to eat much & when I got home I couldn't wait to get on that scale & BAM there it was - 156. -
Band replacement from smaller to larger band?
JRFAN88 replied to mcs0425's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I understand what you are saying. My husband has the older band that holds 4cc. He got it in February of last year. He felt immediate restriction. I got the new, improved 10cc band in May of last year. It had 2cc in at surgery time, went back a month after that for another 2cc, then another month later 1 more cc, then I finally felt some restriction. It has been very hard to find my sweet spot. I'll be almost there, then I get too tight. I can't find that sweet middle ground. -
When will I feel normal again??????
JRFAN88 replied to castle1976's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I had surgery 1 year ago & had a hiatel hernia repair. I'm usually a very tough cookie but was in a lot of pain following lapband surgery. First 5 days was the worst. I took the pain medicine as often as possible. 2 weeks I was feeling much better but still had some pain & took pain meds to sleep. Finally at 3 weeks out I was back to normal. Hope this helps. Good luck to you! -
I am having the same problem & it is so frustrating. I first started having in January of this year & by the time I went in for an unfill I was so dehydrated that they took out a whole cc which really set me back. I haven't lost anything since then. They have filled me back up very gradually & as of almost 3 weeks ago I'm finally back to restriction. Scale has finally dropped a couple pounds. Now that darned night-time coughing & reflux is back. I don't want it to get that bad again so I have called the doctor's office to see if I can come in for a very tiny unfill. My husband is also banded & he's never had this problem. It is driving me nuts. Everytime I get the restriction that I want & need this reflux comes along. And I'd rather be overweight & get sleep so guess I'll get the unfill. Hopefully it will still leave me with restriction.

LilMissDiva, that is awesome to go 30 days with no chips. That is a huge accomplishment! I have finally lost a couple of pounds. I had a fill last Monday & so far so good. I'm one who tends to get tighter as time goes on but if it can stay where it is now I think I'll finally start making some progress after months of a standstill. Good job!!!!:frown: -
Moonbeam, My surgery was 1 year ago & I could feel the port from day 1. At first the doctor said it was the swelling but it never went down. I was just like you thinking it feels just like when I was pregnant & could feel my baby. The doctor told me that eventually I would probably need to have my port switched to a low profile one that doesn't protrude so much. Right now it is so easy to hit for fills that they don't want to change it until I'm close to goal. You can see my lump with the naked eye, you don't have to feel for it. Just wanted to know, you're not alone in this area. Good luck with your weight loss!

I'm not Monel but I do attend her support group meetings. (Sounds like a Holiday Inn Express commercial. lol) It is this coming up Monday, the 3rd Mondays of the month, at 7pm. Bell's Gym is at the other end of town from Diamond Bank. If you're coming from Mineral Springs you go past the Wal-Mart, it's about a quarter mile past Wal-Mart, on the right side of the road. There is McDonalds on the left, then Alps & Family Dollar on the right & Bell's Gym is right past that. Monel is our fearless leader. I'm sure she'll be super excited Monday night because this will be her first meeting since she reached "onederland". (She had the surgery last February & has lost about 170 pounds.) Hope to see you there.

Oh, yeah, & weekends are my trouble time too. It starts with after we get off work we go to our favorite Mexican restaurant. Then Saturday & Sunday I just want to snack all day. -

Oh, one more thing I noticed a few of us had in common. Doritoes are my chip downfall & unfortunately we always have them in my house because they are all 4 of our kids favorite chip too. Also Reese's PB cups are my main chocolate weekness. And with Easter just past us you know I had to get some of those peanut butter eggs & bunnies. Y'all have helped me stay positive today so keep up the good work. Good luck to us all! -

I've read through your posts & have really enjoyed them. I think I'll order some of those slim shots today. Do you put a vanilla in your coffee or just drink them as a shot? I still get hungry often but my portion sizes are better than pre-band. I had my surgery almost 1 year ago & only needed to lose 80 pounds & I thought I would be almost to goal by now. I've lost almost half, depending on what day it is. I fluctuate 5 pounds or so. I've had to have 2 slight unfills which have set me back each time. My doctors fill gradually & only 1 every 6 weeks. I'm exercising like crazy, walking/jogging during my lunch & 4 nights a week I work with a trainer at a gym. Sad thing is that my weight is still up & have been in same size clothes for 6 months or more. I'm loving the muscle definition though. Just wish I could get the fat off so you could see it better. I'm curious, Lil Miss Diva, did you have your job interview & how it went? Want_so_bad, I am glad you have restriction & that your band is working. I know that was a scary day for you. Also I sympathize about your son. I have a 15-year-old son who is "at that age". Somedays he's still my sweet baby & others he hates me & I don't like him so much either... Lol... For people reading this that haven't been banded. I still love my band! Even though I have been at a stand still for months I know without a shadow of a doubt if it weren't for this band I would have already gained back every pound that I've lost along with an additional 10. -
Strectching out your new pouch..

40 pounds is awesome!!!!!!!!!! I'm 10 1/2 months out & have just lost 40 pounds. -
Anybody know why we didn't see skin last night. First I noticed the girls had on full tank tops, not the sports bra tops. Then the guys didn't take their shirts off. Nothing was ever mentioned of it on the show. Just curious.... And I can't wait until next week's show!
-
SueAZ, I noticed our stories are similar too. Except I'm exercising like crazy & haven't lost anything in months. Still thankful for the band though, cause I would have gained it all back by now. Going for a fill this afternoon & hoping it will be just right because I either don't have restriction or I'm too tight.

I had to post because I want the answer to. I haven't been banded quiet a year yet & just when I thought I was at my sweet spot back in December it got to where I was having reflux at night then coughing up the liquid then eventually I had to go for an unfill because I wasn't sleeping at all & started pbing so much I couldn't keep nothing down. They are filling me back up gradually & when I go next Monday hopefully I'll be close back to where I was before the unfill. I am so ready to have restriction again but I'm also afraid of not being able to sleep again.

frustrated, any helping words?
JRFAN88 replied to blackcherry2002's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Please post back if you find anything that helps. I lose weight the same way, really quick at first, then it just stalls. Luckily though this time I have the band so at least I'm not gaining back. In the past this is where I'd say... forget this, it's not working & go on a binge. I have been working out with an awesome trainer for 6 weeks 3 & 4 nights a week & I walk/jog everyday that the weather permits during my lunch hour. I've lost nothing in 6 months either. I'm scheduled for a fill next Monday then I'm going to try the restart diet which is basically the pre-op liquid diet for a week & see if I can break this freakin plateau. -
I know exactly how you feel. I have been stuck at the same weight for many months. Actually I fluctuate up & down about 5 pounds. I am starting my 6th week today of working out with a trainer plus am adding additional cardio on my own. My trainer made me an offer last week to train me 4 days a week instead of 3, which is her customary training schedule. I think she knows that I'm frustrated & she is in the fitness business because she likes to help people. BUT I am still very thankful of my band because this is the point where previously in my pre-band life I would be gaining back the weight I've lost. That's because I would be so bummed out that my dieting & exercising isn't making that freakin number on the scale go down that I'd just start eating whatever I want. I'm not currently losing but I am holding that number down there & maintaining my loss. And I know that eventually that number is going to move in the right direction. Hang in there.... I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that this happens to.

My pouch closes up 4 weeks after a fill WHY?
JRFAN88 replied to JWood1967's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This has happened to me also so I'm curious to see the answers. Last time I went about 7 weeks on a fill then it tightened up. Just when I thought I was at my sweet spot, BAM, I couldn't get nothing down & had to go for an unfill of 1cc. I had to wait 4 weeks for a fill, then they would only give me .4cc. In 3 weeks I go for another fill & though I'm ready to get back to restriction (I have only very little right now) I worry that it'll be too much. I'm thinking that maybe I just pb'd so much during the tightness episode that it just got swollen. So I've decided at the next indication of tightness if I possibly pb again, I'm going to immediately go on all liquids to see if that can keep me from an unfill again. Please post again if you find any answers. Thanks for the post.
