  1. It's completely normal to have that much of a fluxuation. I only weigh in the morning to get my true weight. I would also encourage you to weigh once a week instead of several times a day/week as you will drive yourself crazy. :smile2:

    Loud gurgle,growling noise in stomache

I've had the loud growling and gurgling noise since being banded but it doesn't bother me because I'm not feeling any hunger at this point.
  3. I'm sorry about your gallbladder, but I don't think that you can wait that long to get it out. It can be real trouble if you have a bad attack and stones get stuck.... take it from someone who had it happen. My surgeon won't do gallbladder removal and Lap Band surgery at the same time because there is a chance of getting a infection.
  4. You should not drive the day of surgery or any day that you are on pain killers. You are going to be groggy. Most likely the hospital won't release you unless someone is able to drive you. Don't put yourself or anyone else in jeapordy by driving. I'm 7 days post op and there is no way that I could've gone back on the second day. I'm supposed to work full days next week and am questioning if I'll be able to do that. I did have a couple of other procedures done while I was under so that might be why I'm so sore and tire easily, still. I wouldn't depend on diet pills as they can have some really bad side effects. Like you said, if they worked you wouldn't be getting banded. Because my stomach is still so swollen I'm still not hungry and have to force myself to drink.

How much can I expect to lose?

The band is designed to help you lose 1 to 2 pounds per week, though many lose more in the beginning.
  6. I'm 6 days post op and am on clear liquids and protein shakes for two weeks. I'm not hungry at all and am luck if I get 300 calories in per day because of it.
  7. I've had staples from four different surgeries. It's not painful to have them removed. I don't recall any burning but to recall a small pinch when a couple were removed.
  8. I'm 5 days post op and started having a pain on my left side 3 days ago. I think I pulled something when I tried getting out of bed the other morning. It now hurts when I walk or laugh but not when I sit or lay down. I find that I have to hold my stomach against me tightly to help with the pain when walking. Has anyone else had this pain? How long before it goes away?

    Crystal Light good or bad???

Crystal Light is fine according to my doctor and nutritionist. I've never heard about it hendering weightloss.

    Questions Questions Questions!!

Carbonation causes most people to get gas that I've heard is painful. It also stretches the pouch. My surgeon and nutritionist also encourages people to stay away from alcohol because of the empty calories, you get drunk faster. They also feel that it puts your liver at a risk while losing weight by not only burning fat, but also having to filter alcohol. It's too much stress.

    Terrible shoulder pain

The pain can also be caused from a nerve that gets pinched in the diaphram.
  12. I have IBS and was banded last Thursday. I haven't had any problems and amazing when I was doing 1 meal and 5 low carb/fat shakes a day that the nutritionist prescribed I didn't have any problems with IBS either.
  13. I take the chewable Flinstone's vitamins... one in the morning with chewable calcium and one in the evening with calcium.

    Thinking hard about this.....

Hello, and welcome to the message boards. I have a very dear friend who has fibro and severe rheumatoid arthritis. She lost 100 lbs on Jenny Craig 2 1/2 years ago and I asked her if losing weight has made a difference as far as reducing the pain in her joints. She said 'no' and still has a lot of pain. So, it's hard to say if it would help or not.

High Blood Pressure after the Band?

The only thing I can think of is that you might be under a lot of stress or are retaining water.

    Pain on left side

Ah, someone who knows what I'm talking about. I've never wore a girdle but it looks like I'll be getting one if I still have the pain this weekend. I sure hope it doesn't last for months. Aren't IB Profens/Motrin considered NSAIDS? If so, I've been told not to take those but only Tylenol.

    Officialy denied.

I'm sorry you were denied and it's causing you so much pain. I have Tricare and had my surgery last Thursday. I too have plantar fascitis and have gotten some relief with getting cortesone shots and have to wear a night splint. The podiatrist has told me he would do surgery on my feet but I told him I wanted to wait until I lost some weight before considering that option. These were the guidelines for me to get approved for surgery ( have many listed plus), so I'm not sure if any of yours fall under these guidelines. Is 100 pounds over ideal weight for height and bone structure and has one of these associated conditions: diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cholecystitis, narcolepsy, Pickwickian syndrome, hypothalamic disorders or severe arthritis of the weight-bearing joints Is 200 percent or more over ideal weight for height and bone structure Has had intestinal bypass or other surgery for obesity and because of complications, requires another surgery Hang in there sweetie.

    Pain on left side

The pain is down lower left side of on my stomach and I was thinking that it's more where the band might be but I'm not sure where that is. The doctor put my port about 3" above my belly button. Would I feel the port on the lower left side? I'm not too concerned yet to call the doc but am wondering if anyone else has had this pain?

    Need help - vomiting

This is not normal at all. By saying it is, she is only lying to herself. She can become very ill if her band slips but is also hurting her heart. She needs medical help.
  20. B12 is not necessary with the Lapband like it is with gastric bypass since you won't have malabsorbtion issues. However, I have been taking B12 for a couple of years to help me with my energy levels. I place a tablet under my tongue once a week. The tablets are very cheap to purchase from a health food store.

    Worried???

Don't worry about it, it's normal and happens to everybody. Your body needs to get rid of all of the gas and is swollen. It will come off.

    5 days out and treadmilling..

Great for you doing so well... I'm jealous. I'm 4 days post-op and am still in pain and have to hold my side when walking.
  23. Yes, I would go ahead and call the surgeon to be on the safe side. Does he/she also know that you are a smoker? I've heard that most surgeons want people to be smoke-free at least 3 months before surgery because of the risk of getting pneumonia. Good luck!
  24. Caffeine is a stimulant and can cause irritation to your stomach because of the acid.

    Chest pain normal?

The pain was the first thing I mentioned as I was coming out of anesthesia. The nurse said it from the anesthesia. I also just got back from the emergency room for something else and was told that it could be from the hiatal hernia repair or the tube they put down my throat during surgery.
