Meeting with the Dietition
Long2BFree replied to xgrl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a great service for the university to offer and will save you some money! -
Congrats on your weightloss! You are doing great. It takes time for you to see yourself as a thin person. I've been overweight most of my life except the summer before I started high school when I lost a lot of weight. It took me about a year before I saw myself as a thin person at 130 lbs and that wasn't until I saw a lot of pictures of myself that way. Then as I started getting heavy when I was about 21 and putting on considerable weight I thought I was skinny until the doctor marked my medical chart as obese when I had my son, weighing in at 210 lbs. I was totally shocked when I saw the word obese when I still thought I was thin and then it sunk in that I was fat again. Now I'm a lot more heavy now and when I get banded I'm planning on taking pictures with every 20 lbs lost so that I can see it with my eyes for comparasion and so I know that I don't ever want to get back there again.

Bra size? or wrong bra??
Long2BFree replied to slimmy120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I get to that point I'm going to Victoria Secret to get fitted and to purchase bras. I've heard many ladies say that they make them look great. -
I always heard that Sharon Osborne had gastric bypass surgery. ???

Meeting with the Dietition
Long2BFree replied to xgrl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A dietician will pretty much tell you to eat like WW's teaches. You will get lists telling you how many calories you should consume. If you join a WW meeting you will get info on points and can purchase additional books that list the points value so you don't have to use the computer at all to do the plan. IMO WW is cheaper unless your insurance pays for the dietician. -
Woohoo! That is super fast for getting in for surgery after being approved. It'll be here before you now it.

 My daughter just got home from spending time with her boyfriend's family and brought home a bag of clothes for me. My daughter's boyfriend's mom had gastric bypass in June 07 and sent home size 14's that she used to wear. She's very excited that I'm heading towards being banded as she tried to get me to have GB with her. It was very sweet of her but it's going to be awhile before I can wear them as I'm currently a 28/30.

Thanks for the info. It doesn't sound pleasant at all so I'm hoping I don't have to take it. -

Afraid of Anesthesia!!
Long2BFree replied to alicatcyclist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree that you should be sure to tell the anesthesiologist. In fact, you might call your surgeon tomorrow and see if you can get in contact with the anesthsiologist beforehand. -
I'm so ashamed and scared.....
Long2BFree replied to katie78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could've almost written this post myself. This morning I was getting stressed because I kept thinking that I'm going to fail one more time. I'm an emotional eater too and the nutritionist was very concerned with this came out at my appointment with her. Unhappiness in my job becasue of a negative atmosphere and feeling guilty for not getting to be at a stay at home mom along with other things that come along with that send me running to food after work on an almost daily basis. I go into the bathroom at work and cry everyday that I'm there. The nutritionist told me that I need to find a different release or else there will be problems with the band. I've been actively been applying for other jobs and have signed up for a class to deal with stress. I hope you get in with with a good psycologist so you can start dealing with the issues. YOU CAN DO THIS! YOU ARE WORTH IT! -
As of today my wife and I are down 400lbs
Long2BFree replied to Frank's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats to both of you! Your stats are AWESOME! -
Alli, Tricare came out the end of January 08 and said they would start covering Lapband surgery. In fact, it retroactive back to February 07 that they will cover it and anyone who paid out-of-pocket can submit paperwork to get reimbursed.

I haven't been banded yet but in reading through the posts on this subject made me think that many people must be getting dehydrated from PBing, sliming, etc. Not getting adequate fluids in should send up a red flag. Anyway, I happy this topic was brought up because it looks like a lot of people are getting their fills re-checked.

I am freaking out!!!! Blood work!
Long2BFree replied to VIRGO_GIRL824's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome Alamogirl. You will get a lot of answers when you go to the seminar. The doctor will tell you what he requires as far as tests, visits, etc. As with any surgery you will experience some pain. To what degree depends on each person. Keep reading the posts and you get a wealth of information. -
H. Pylori + Prevpac = SICK!!
Long2BFree replied to kathystrick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you don't mind me asking, what is this medication for? Is it taken pre-surgery??? -
Holy crap its coming up fast now! & New health concern
Long2BFree replied to LynneB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry that you haven't been feeling well. You might want to call your doctor before seeing him on Thursday just to let him know what's going on. Make sure you tell everything before having surgery. I agree that some of the posts are scary but I think that a lot of the scary ones are from people who have older bands. It also makes me realize how important it is to follow the doctor's orders to a 't'. Please take care and message me if you need someone to talk with. -
OMG Approved & Scheduled!!
Long2BFree replied to miles2empty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Woohoo! May the days go fast before you have your band! -
I have Plantar Fascitius/heel spurs and the podiatrist has said no weight bearing exercises. I refuse to put this body into a bathingsuit and go to a public pool but have been thinking about doing Curves. Is Curves considered weight bearing exercise? I belonged to a Curves serveral years ago but didn't have the problem then and can't remember. Any other thoughts on exercise would be appreciated. Thanks!

How long after a meal can you drink?
Long2BFree replied to livelovelaugh's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm curious to know how it feels if one gulps down a large amount of water. From everything I read you should drink no more than 2 ounces at a time. I think it's so you don't stretch the pouch. -
Pre-op diet- kill me now!
Long2BFree replied to dogluvr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Double check your intake for the Medifast. I get 5 shake/MF meals per day and one meal of mostly protein and veggies that are on the list. Make your shakes with lots of crushed ice and eat or drink every 2.5 to 3 hours. You can also have some SF Jello and make sure you are drinkly lots of water. Hang in there! -
I was told by Tricare that they cover fills 100%.
-
I'm Tricare Standard and was told that they will cover the fills 100%. My doc was apprehensive about taking Tricare but the office manager agreed to let it go through. I'm wondering how much they are losing by taking it? I was kind of shocked because the doctor was in the Navy Reserves so I was having a hard time understanding why he was apprehensive.

My feet are always cold and it's not because I've lost weight. It's because I have a slow thyroid.
