Time for a new beginning....but i lil nervous

I guess it is hard to find other things to do when you belong to a fraternity. I guess pamper parties and other such things wouldn't work. -
How can I be supportive
Long2BFree replied to BIGDSWIFE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I appreciate my DH telling me how proud he is of me. The one thing I wish he wouldn't do is bring foods into the house that are really hard for me to control. If he goes out to get in ice cream cone and eats it in front of me it doesn't bother me but if he brings a 1/2 gallon and puts it in the freezer that is really hard for me. He sometimes mindless brings me things to eat that I don't ask for which really bothers me too. -
Traci, you are correct in the fact that I have not had my surgery yet. I hope to get a surgery date for May. The recumbant bike is actually an exercise bike so no need for a helmet. I do have bike that has been sitting the garage and will actually ride that once I drop about 75 lbs. Believe it or not I like how I feel after I exercise and used to be very active until I ripped a calf muscle 8 years ago and then got heel spurs in both feet which has greatly reduced my activity. Thanks for the encouraging words. I appreciate it.

Greetings from Grrrl!
Long2BFree replied to realizegrrrl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on being banded. I hope you post how you are doing in the days to come. -
Tell your doctor of your concerns with pain meds. He might give you a prescription for something stronger if the T3 doesn't work. Tylenol 3 makes me extremely naseauted so I for myself I would be asking for somthing different.

I'd be afraid to try Matzo balls be cause of their consistency, but you might be okay with Matzo bread since it is like a cracker. Many people people say crackers go down okay. I hope you will post and let us know what you were able to eat. Happy Passover!

My first cousin had LBS done by Dr. Kuri about 5 years ago and had nothing but wonderful things to say about him. She was so happy that she paid for her daughter to be banded by him about 4 years ago and they've both had great success and no problems. I can't quite remember how much she paid. If you want more info I can put you in touch with her. Send me a PM if you are interested.

I agree that it is scary reading about some of the problems people have but I feel they are very small percentages compared to those who haven't had any problems. Many, many have been successful this journey. Yes, I can lose weight but I put it back on... if that wasn't the case I wouldn't be here. I'm at the point that I have many health problems related to my weight I know without a doubt that I will die prematurely if I don't get it under control. Yes, you could be getting cold feet which is very common but you also need to weigh the pros and cons and figure out what your quality of life will be if you aren't able to lose and keep it off.

I love Benefiber! I throw a few tablespoons in whatever I'm cooking and my family doesn't even know they are getting fiber.

Newby with Fibromyalgia
Long2BFree replied to ImaDucky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess it depends on how badly you have it. My friend has severe fibro along with having had knee replacements and she swears that losing 100 pounds hasn't made it easier for her. I guess it depnds on the person. -
Congrats on your pre-op weightloss and your upcoming surgery. You are off to a great start!

Month-Long Last Supper, anyone?
Long2BFree replied to pinkdots410's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't believe that others are going through the 'last supper' thing like I am. For the past week I have been totally blowing it with food. I do great with sticking with my protein drinks but when it comes to food choices I totally pig out. I have to have 14 lbs off before I see the surgeon in 2-3 weeks (haven't been given the date yet) and am teetering between having lost 8-12 lbs lost. I could've easily had 15 off if I would just stick with the plan. My family hasn't been very supportive the past 3 days... they keep bringing me food that I don't ask for and instead of rejecting it, I eat it. -
It looks like everyone is getting together in Gruene??? I hope everyone has F-U-N!

New kid on the block-vitamin questions
Long2BFree replied to mcompton's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I found some Calcium Citrate Chewable tablets w/ Mag and Vitamn D-3 that are Blueberry flavor made by KAL. I got them at the vitamin store and paid $10.19 for 60 tablets. They meet the requirements of my doctor and nutritionist and are cheaper than the ones that you purchase from the Bariatric Advantage website. You can also go to Nutraceutical.com / KAL, plug in your zip code and they will show you where you can purchase them. -
That's a long time to go without consulting your doctor. Are you sure you aren't dehydrated?
-
You can also purchase Biotene and other mouth rinses that add moisture to your mouth at Walmart and there drug stores. They even come in a spray. I had to use them when I first got my CPAP for Sleep Apnea and had a dry mouth.

Incisions Pulling Apart?
Long2BFree replied to travellvr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just as long as you don't have a fever and it's not warm to the touch and really sore then you should be okay. If you have any of these symptoms then you should contact your doctor. Keeping the area clean and exposed to air will help in the healing process. How are you feeling since being banded? I haven't received my date yet and can't wait. -
Congrats on getting your date!

I've recently seen a post made by someone who used Dr. Teng and was happy with him. I can't remember the topic but you might be able to find it if you do a search.

Wow, those are amazing stats and you should be so proud of yourself! By the time you reach your goal you are going to be so tiny.

Protein SHakes vs. Cottage Cheese
Long2BFree replied to nurse7263's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your band is so new that I don't think I would worry about getting the Protein shakes in if you can't stomach them. The main thing is to stay hydrated and not throw up at this point. If you need the protein there is a drink made by Isopure that is clear and loaded with protein but I personally don't like the taste. Your stepmom probably didn't think that you would be so upset, but was most likely only looking to ask people to pray for you because prayer is a powerful thing. I'm sure by the time fall rolls around they will notice a difference in your appearance and will only have good things to say. -
Have a personal question
Long2BFree replied to ThinDolphin3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think they are neccessary. I've had several surgeries and am able to clean myself just fine without help. -
I've recently started taking my HBP meds at night and my BP has been consistently lower. I saw a doctor on television explain that as you are resting the meds regulate your BP better because your arteries are able to relax for a longer period of time as you are sleeping. I agree with what Sue Magoo said about getting to the office early enough to relax. I'm kind of surprised you PCP didn't have you sit quietly for 30 minutes and then retake it.

Just curious to know if restaurants are accomodating when you only order one meal but share a littel bit? Many restaurants around here charge extra if you ask for a plate to share a meal. Will they actually sell you a kids meal?
-
I just thought of something else. Contact the companies that make the bands and get information from them.
