  1. I had a minor arm surgery in a surgical center and felt it was just fine, but it is different than having major surgery. Have you called the surgical center to find out how they handle emergencies?

    Protein Powder

I haven't tried their unflavored which is probably good but I didn't care for their flavored powders. They didn't satisfy my hunger like some of the other shakes that I drink.

    a little scared!

In the beginning of exploring the idea of getting banded I had many doubts that I would fail one more time. Now that I'm so close to getting banded I know that I will lose the weight. I have to because my health is at risk. Plan each day and stick with it! You deserve to be healthy and look great!

    Extreme muscle weaknes, soreness, awful

Are you taking your vitamin and calcium supplements? I hope your surgeon gives you answers as to what is going on.

The over whelming calm (100lbs lost)

All I can say is 'Wow'. That brought tears to my eyes because I can feel the excitement in your words and so long to feel that for myself. What are you going to do to reward yourself?

Please call someone to take you to the doctor if you can't make it. This sounds serious and you need medical help. Please let us know how you are doing.

    Surgery postponed :(

I'm glad to see that everything is all worked out and that you are cleared for surgery. On the other end, you will have so much fun on your daughter's 8th grade trip. I went with my daughter 8th grade trip four years ago and loved it so much I took my family back at Christmas the same year. We went to DC, Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown, Richmond, Amish Country and Gettysburg. We loved Virginia so much that we hope to live there some day. It's a very pretty state. Have fun in New York!

    Disapproving family...help!

If you can find a doctor that will do the surgery in a in surgical center the costs are considerably less.

    Approved!!!!!!!!!!

Happy dance for you Kathy! I've been waiting to see you post your surgery in your signature block and it looks like it won't be long!
  10. Good luck to both of you tomorrow!

    Numbness in legs??!!

I'm glad this will go away. I start out a little bit heavier than you and my doctor has been racking his brains trying to figure out what was going on. He did an ultrasound and said that one of the arteries in my leg is slightly blocked. He also thought I could have blood clots but tests cleared that. I sure can't wait for it to go away.

    Is surgery in Mexico safe?

Sorry I'm posting again but I just remembered a couple of other things I've read from people who've been banded in Mexico. One person said that when she got home she tried to find a place to do her fills and the dollar amount was so high that she couldn't afford them. She was considering having her band removed. Another person said that the doctors in here area wouldn't give her fills because her surgery was done in Mexico. Just a few things to think about...

    Disapproving family...help!

Don't let you family keep you from having the surgery. Two of my cousins went to Mexico a few years ago to have surgery with Dr. Kuri and had nothing but good things to say. Perhaps your family is scared because there was a newstory that came out last week that said hospitals in Tijuana were shut down and heavily guarded while drug traffickers were being treated. When you went to the seminar did you ask about the procedure being cheaper if you are self pay?

Tricare North, co-morbidities, and Fort Bragg

Go to the Tricare office and talk to them. They should have a list of doctors in your office and tell you which military facilities in your area cover the procedure. Lapband was approved starting in Feb 08 with Tricare. Good luck!
  16. Are you trying to get banded in the US before going to school in Spain? Personally, if that is the case I would definately check to see what kind of training they have with the band before you got there.
  17. I would attribute that to them not understanding how each surgery works. That's when you can educate them or encourage them to do research... though I doubt that wil happen unless they are considering WLS.
  18. This is debatable depending on who your doctor is. My doctor says "no caffeine, carbonation or alchohol" after surgery. Some doctors tell their patients otherwise.

    banded may 1st

Many report having gas for a week or two and most say that lots of walking is what helps it go away. Some also complain of shoulder pain which is also relate to gas pains.

    I'm so impatient.

Way to go with making so many positive changes while you are waiting for your 6 months to pass.

    Surgery postponed :(

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this. I would be devistated. I sure hope my psych doesn't do this to me. I clicked with him on the phone but during my visit I clammed up because of the way he talked to me.

    Tricare Approval

By looking at your stats I'm guessing you were denied because you didn't meet their requirements. You must be at least 100 lb overweight and have at least one of the other medical conditions. Perhaps you can go to the Tricare office located at the medical facility and they can give you more info. Good luck!

    Tricare Approval

I have Tricare Standard too and have been very happy with it. I covers everything that I had on an employee plan that I paid for and more. I work on a military installation and they keep trying to get me to swith to getting care at the medical facility but I like the fact that I can stay with the doctor who knows my medical history for the past 15 years. The doctors on base same to change every 2 years which I don't like. Maybe when I get banded and my healt improves I'll go on base.

    Tricare Approval

I was told by Tricare that they cover the fills 100%.

    No Alcohol HAIR PRODUCTS?

I've never heard of it either. Use your regular hair products and then was your hair that night or in the morning.
