I hope you figure it out. Living on soup and shakes wouldn't been very fun.

Could the temp of the food been too hot or cold for your tummy?

Would Love Feedback, Thanks!
Long2BFree replied to jomarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! That is really bad for you to be treated this way. I think I would lose all faith in a doctor and look elsewhere too. It's pretty scary to think of how you would be treated in an emergency. Keep us posted on your pland for the future. -
Doctor took me off of birth control pills prior to surgery
Long2BFree replied to Fernando's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds more like a precautionary thing to me. As much of a pain as it is, I'd rather deal with a period and PMS than deal with a blood clot. -
ww and the band
Long2BFree replied to 2babutterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There was a post about this a about 4 days ago. If you do a search you will probably find it plus more about WW and the band. I will probably do Core once I'm banded. Was always afraid to before because I didn't think I could control myself. -
Very negative comment from fill doctor.

Girl, prove him wrong and then go flaunt it in his face. He fails to realize that he only sees a very small percent of Lapbanders. -
Need to be reassured - please - Pre-Opt diet

Here is some info from the Carnation Instant Breakfast website. They no have a sugar free product. Here is the info about Protein content when mixed with milk. 1. How much protein does CARNATION® INSTANT BREAKFAST® have, and why is it important? Every prepared serving of CARNATION® INSTANT BREAKFAST® has roughly 13 grams of protein, which is twice the protein in one egg. When not mixed with milk, CARNATION® INSTANT BREAKFAST® powder has 5 grams of protein. Protein is an important nutrient, essential for muscle development. It’s present in every cell of your body. And unlike with fat or carbohydrates, your body has no way to store protein, so it’s important to get enough protein every day. An average person needs to consume approximately 9 grams of protein per day for every 20 pounds of body weight. So if you weigh 120 pounds, you need approximately 54 grams of protein every day. Keep doing what your doctor told you to do. He/she is the expert. A four pound loss sounds pretty normal when taking in this amount of calories. Remember, you should only be losing 1 or 2 pounds per week. Keep up the good work! -
I add Benefiber with just about everything when I cook for my family because they don't know it's there because of it's fine, powdery consistency. I was surprised the first time I used it to find out that it wasn't like bran fiber I was used to.

Suggestions Please On Best Tasting Protein Shakes
Long2BFree replied to slim2be's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink the Medifast shakes and they taste good to me. I like the chocolate, vanilla and orange the best. I also drink the Low Carb Slim Fast shakes, but they do take a day or two to get used to because they don't have as much sugar in them as others. If you don't care about the carb and protein count then Walmart's version of Slimfast is really good. DH and I also feel full with those longer than with the SF shakes. -
UHG!!! The hell our returning soldiers go through
Long2BFree replied to Apples2's topic in Rants & Raves
Pix, thank goodness the young wives know they can look to your for answers and moral support. My DH is also in the military and hasn't deployed yet (his job here at home makes him one of the last to deploy) but I know I would be a basket case if he did. My co-worker's hubby is on his 7th deployment since they've been married, all being over in the middle East and his 10th total deployment. She is very strong and I think being former military herself has helped her to know what to expect. She's planning on writing a book about what she's had to deal with while being at home while he's been deployed. -
I don't have my surgery date yet but my PCP has been doing blood tests on me for about a year. My white blood cell count has been elavated and has the doctor scratching his head. I'm on antibiotics right now because of a repiratory infection I got a week ago so I'm hoping that will knock whatever out and bring the count down. Hopefully everything will come back clear for your surgery. Keep us posted. I have read of others having an elevated count and their doctor clears them. Someone also posted that overweight people tend to have high counts. I haven't seen any evidence to back that claim up but it could be so.

Help me please! AGB vs RNY
Long2BFree replied to BabyNicole's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
GBS doesn't cure all all types of diabetes. Sorry I can't remember which one. Anyway, with weightloss and proper diet and exercise you can control or completely avoid get getting diabetes with the band. -
I Have A Date!!!!!!!!!
Long2BFree replied to Bigjedda's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Woohoo! Before I clicked on this thread I thought you menat you had a 'date, date'. -
It's not WW itself attacking people who have WLS but the members who follow the plan. I remember thinking that I would never have Gastric Bypass and looked at surgery as a weakness but here I am waiting to get LBS. Yes, you do get a points allowance based upon on some questions you answer. If you don't use the points within a 24 hour period then you forfeit them. You also get an extra 35 points extra per week to use however you wish. WW also now has the Core Plan. It's a list of certain food on a list that you eat from. No weighing or measuring foods but you only eat until you are full, not stuffed. A lot of people are successful with it but it always scared me. Once I'm banded I might try Core. You also get 35 points per week to use however you want.

Long2BFree replied to Apples2's topic in Rants & Raves
Ditto what Mango said. In my eyes, all those who serve our country proudly are the true heros in this world. -
Amanda - I have seen on the boards that several people do WW after being banded. My nut even recommend the WW way of eating. I will plan on following it once I am banded but have no idea how I will do the points because I won't eat the points if I'm not hungry. Hopefully someone who follows it will post soon.

Do you sometimes NOT like the changes you see in the mirror?
Long2BFree replied to dancinglamb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It was a class with the nutritionist at the hospital. She went very in depth as to the new way of eating that will be required with LBS and GBS. She also brought supplements from various companies for us to try. -

I apologized to my hubby a few weeks and told him that I was sorry that we would still be having sex in the dark even after I lose weight because it probably still won't be pretty site. Thank God he loves me for me and not my body. It does make me mad for letting myself get like this though. -
Did you ask the dentist to run a blood test? That is most likely the only way they will be able to tell if that is the problem for sure. I do know that people who have had gastric bypass are required to take sublingual B-12 because they have malabstorbtion problems. I have also seen people get chapped in that area from excessive licking.

Mysterious health problems
Long2BFree replied to ramblingal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry that your mom is dealing with these kinds of problems. I've been reading posts on the message boards for three months and have never heard of anything like this. Hopefully some of the 'old timer's will post and let you know if they've heard of anything like this. Please keep us posted on what the doctors find out. -
Crazy "sweet spot" question....what next?

How Much Protein is too much?
Long2BFree replied to VenturaCtyGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon wants us to have at least 70 grams of Protein after surgery for at least the first 6 months. Don't focus on the weightloss at this point but getting your body to heal. You many only want to weigh once a week so you don't get discouraged if you aren't losing as quickly as you think you should. Keep doing what you are supposted to and it will come off. -
Congrats on your great weight loss. You've done a good job! I'm not banded yet but it sounds like you may need an unfill. You also really need to find some money to get a check-up as you should see a band doctor once a year for the rest fo your life to make sure everything is okay and that you aren't lacking in any Vitamins, etc.

Is this normal? Need advice please!
Long2BFree replied to jbperry21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gee, it makes me wonder why he performs LBS if he doesn't like the band. I would definately be finding a different doctor. -
I am so sorry for the loss of your wife and your children's mother. My heart goes out to you and all who knew and loved her. My prayer is that you will find peace, comfort and strength as you go through this rough time in your life. God bless your family. Lezli
