    Self magazine article

What did it say about Lapband surgery? One of the reasons I decided against gastric bypass was because of a story I saw on MTV about a young mother who had it and she was deathly ill afterwards. It scared me.

    Is this pain normal?

DragonSingapore, Thanks for the reply. I figured it was normal but had never read about anyone having it so I wasn't sure.
  3. I had my surgery 3 days ago and am feeling a burning feeling when I take a deep breath. I know that a breathing tube was put down my throat while I was under and I also had a esophogus hernia repair. I'm wondering if it is normal to feel this type of pain? If so, how long before it goes away?

    Just got banded on 7/16/08

I was banded yesterday and am not hungry at all. I'm having to force myself to eat Jello so I can take my pain meds.
  5. Your post brings up a red flag to me. This guy sounds almost like he is stalking you. I would consider going to some else because he's someone you should feel safe with.

    Having trouble breathing

I don't want to scare you but it sounds like you might have pneumonia. I would contact your doctor right away or go to the ER. They would be able to check your oxygen levels.

    Major Bandster HELL!!!

Gee, if you were going to have something I don't think you could've made better choices than what you did. You did good!

    Major Bandster HELL!!!

(((Hugs))) I feel your pain. I'm in pre-bandster hell right now. I can't tell you how many times I've said in the past week that I was going to forget getting banded tomorrow because I'm so stinkin' hungry. I want to pig out so badly right now.
  9. I think what you are feeling is completely normal. My surgery is this Thursday but the thought of being put under scares me, especially since I had a rough time the last time I had surgery. I do know that without this surgery my life will be shorten dramatically due to the numerous health problems I have. Having peace with knowing where I will go when I die makes it easier.

    first fill, bad deal

Wow, what a horrible picture you painted here. I would definately take steps to report this doctor to the state. It sounds like he should have his license taken away... it makes me wonder if he's really a legit doctor.

    I'll go first

Hello! My name is Lezli. I was an AF wife, stationed at Vandenberg AFB for 10 years and then hubby became a weekend warrior with the CA Army Nat'l Guard and worked for the DoD. After 9/11 he was called to AD with the Army for a year and then went back to his civilian job. He was asked if he would come back to permanenty active duty if a slot was found for him. He said 'yes' and as been Army ever since. He's stationed at Camp Roberts, CA. I can only laugh because I thought I would see the world when I married a military man but we've lived in the same area for 22 years. I've been married for 22 years and have two children, ages 21 and 17. I also work for the DoD and love the military life. I love this country and have a lot of respect for those who serve to protect our country. I am also a Christian.
  12. I get banded this coming Thursday and am not going to concentrated on how much I've lost in the beginning but healing and getting in my minimum requirements. I'm also going to only weigh once a week because I know if I do it more often, I don't normally show any losses until after a week. MM - I think you are being over zealous. Do what you are supposed to do and you will lose.

That CAN NOT be enough food!!

I too am concerned if I will be able to handle eating such small amounts long term after being a volume eater all of my life. I guess it's just being very aware of what I'm doing that will get me through it.

UHG!!! The hell our returning soldiers go through

Many times a simple hand shake with a heartfelt 'thank you' means the world to them too!

    Psych Evaluation

I don't want this to come of mean, but if your health is too bad to travel then are you sure having surgery is safe? Many people make the sacifice to travel far to have their surgeries and see doctors. Cut out a couple of things, sell something on eBay to get funds and save for gas. If losing weight is something that will improve your life then you will find a way. Good luck with your LB journey!

    Contacts at INAMED...Band defect (LEAK)

Since you are getting no response at this point, I would send them a certified letter with a return receipt so that you have proof that you mailed a letter and have a signature for who received it.

    Recovery time?

When I first started reading your post I thought it would be possible since I've read over people having the surgery on a Friday and returing to work a couple of days later. When I got to the part of you being a cosmetology student, I thought no way. Surgery makes you feel tired and having to deal with patrons and doing hair will make you feel muscles in places you didn't know you had. BTW, I went to cosmetology school when I was younger so I know what you will be up against.

    Hair loss???????

The body goes through a lot of stress from surgery and lower calories which causes the hair loss.

    Ack! Cold Feet!

I am one week away from surgery and am having some second thoughts. I keep thinking about the foods that I won't be able to eat but it seems that I'm mosting focusing on short-term can't haves instead of thinking what I can have later. I think I'm starting to mourn the loss of my best friend... food. I know that I HAVE to do this because my health is suffering from being overweight.

    Help

How about adding Crystal Light and blend it with crushed ice. It is like having a treat.
  22. Sorry you had to be admitted but hope you are feeling better. It sounds like you need to talk to your doctor about the diet he/she ordered for you while you were in the hospital. I'm a little bit confused.... are you still diabetic or has that gone away since you've lost so much? ...Which, by the way, is great!
  23. Hi. Have you tried Dr. Edward Felix in Freso? He also has an associate but I can't think of his name of hand or locate the info right how. My friend has gastric bypass done by him and said he's an excellent doctor.

    What is an EKG?

I had an EKG done in my PCP's office by a medical assistant. It took less than 15 minutes from start to finish. They placed sticky pads on various locations on my chest, arms and I think legs (I don't really remember). They then attached wires and turned on a machine that recorded a graph on paper. I believe it's basically measuring to make sure there are no blockages. They then took it to the doctor to read and I was released to go home. It was quick and painless. IMO, I would wait until you've had it done before booking a flight just in case there is a problem.
