    DUMPING IS REAL!!

In my puree stage I was lucky to get anything at all in.. carbs are a big no no especially on Keto (which is my way of eating) but I needed some source of calories, so the soupy stuff is what worked for me.. Well, I had hoped! ha ha Now I'm 5 weeks post op and eat 20g or less of carbs per day.

Band to sleeve success stories, please.

I am only 5 weeks out, and I have lost 34 pounds since surgery, 45 lbs total,.. and it's effortless!! I am losing way faster and way easier with the sleeve so I don't know why the surgeons think that is the true statistic.. I wonder if it's more common among those who have only had their bands a few years and their body is still in the shock mode of WLS in general? For me, I think I'll actually easily surpass my goal of 160 because I'm only 5 weeks out and 37 pounds away from that goal . Good luck to you!!
  3. Oh nice! That's exactly how I found my dr.. a few people that work with my fiance have used him, so it was nice having that personal connection.
  4. I went to Mexico for surgery too! Who'd you go to? I went to Dr Gerardo Garcia Alvarez at Bariatric Mexico in Cabo. It was a great experience!
  5. Oh my Lord go troll somewhere else. If you don't like this post than go away. This is childish to sit here and respond over and over throwing stones. It's your personality that's being reflected here not his. Find another post to hijack.. you made your point here, no one cares!!

    Before and After Pics

Wow... What a transformation over the last 15 years. The upper left hand corner (2002) is me at my heaviest (284).. this was where I was at until I decided to get a lap-band (2010).. lower left is me in June at 230 lbs. March of this year I was up to 242 lbs and started eating a Keto diet. I lost 20 lbs, and then gained 9 back before my surgery.. Right side of that collage and the individual picture is me today at 198. I'm only 4 1/2 weeks out from surgery and already the lightest I've been in several years! I'm so thankful for this journey!

JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?

I'm in the same boat.. especially now that I've added food into my day.. If I drink a protein shake, or eat anything I can't drink for HOURS.. I just stay too full, and it'll come back up. I drank a half a protein shake for breakfast yesterday, and by 2:00 I could finally drink water. Somedays I just focus on water. Food will have to come later..

JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?

Remember to take measurements often.. stalls are just your body reshuffling.. you are still shrinking

JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?

Remember your 15th days starts your 3rd week.. your 21st day is the end of your 3rd week.. hang in there, it'll pass!

JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?

07-13-2017 Doing so much better!! Last week I was able to eat a bit better.. before that I couldn't really eat anything aside from broth or soup.. I'm down 33 lbs and that makes me happy! My water intake is better too! How about you?
  11. This week my recovery has finally turned a corner.. I'm finally able to "eat" and drink a bit more than a sip.. I am less tired since I'm able to get in some nutrition.. finally feeling really good about my sleeve.. The first 3 weeks were so hard, I lived with regret.

So happy to hear it! The first couple of months arw definitely the hardest...

  12. Have you tried the Parmesan crisps? you can buy them at Costco or make them and they are zero carbs! I eat keto so the fat doesn't prevent me from eating them.. and they are crunchy, like a replacement for chips.. also you can have pork rinds.. high protein and no carbs.. hang in there! You're doing great!!
  13. Summerset, I have a sleeve and I dump like crazy. Its not exclusive to bypass patients, just more extreme. If I eat anything with potatoes (mashed potatoes while on puree for instance) it puts me into horrible dumping syndrome. Sugar, and dairy does the same thing.
  14. Day 6 and I'm feeling human again. Man what a ROUGH recovery. Between the complications with my surgery/revision, traveling 14 hours to get home, and having a massive cold and horrific cough/bronchitis.. I really wasn't sure how much more I could take. I'm so much better today. I'm struggling with fluids still though. I'm so full of mucus and phlegm that I literally feel like I'm STUFFED and it's hard to sip on to of that. That'll be my focus today. And as of this morning I'm down to my SW 219. For those of you with a band and think it's fine, that what I was thinking too.. I had ZERO symptoms of any problems.. my sleeve took 5 hours because of how bad my scar tissue..

    Revision update

My surgeon did remove the scare tissue.. it was so bad that you couldn't even see my band (I have the video) .. and he removed it from my liver and spleen as well. Slow healing but thankful to have that garbage out of my body

    Revision update

I'm sorry, I just saw this reply.. I'm three weeks out today and I am on the road to recovery Much better now that before.. Still struggling to get fluids down, and really can't eat yet.. but it's really awesome to finally not feel hungry! I haven't felt full in so long! My band I always felt stuck, instead of full..
  17. If you weren't nervous you wouldn't be normal We all have that fear of the unknown and worse case scenario!! I promise you'll come home and be happy it's over.. and onto a better healthier life.. I had a really complicated surgery, and losts of recovery issues (I was revised from band to sleeve with a TON of scar tissue...) and I would still do it again!

    July Sleevers?

Tentatively scheduled for surgery on July 14th in Cabo Mexico I have an endoscopy on Tuesday and as long as those results come back okay regarding my lapband I will be scheduled and looking forward to joining the losers bench. Can't wait to get this lapband out of me and really truly embrace a new tool for weight loss. Would love to follow others being sleeved in July and others revising to a sleeve Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Mine is $6450, I'm going to Dr Gerardo Garcia Alvarez at Bariatric Mexico. I have 8 people in my town that have gone there in the last year. They are phenomenal!! Even now, before my surgery I am seeing the quality of their work and quality of care. Their coordinator makes you feel like family. He answers my text messages or phone calls anytime of the day or night. Very prompt to get back to me, very helpful with me finding financing.. because I needed a loan to get it.. I mean I just can't say enough about how great this place is. It's a little bit more expensive but well worth it when it comes to your health as far as I'm concerned
  20. I'm Friday too.. been on 2 week pre op since last Wednesday (i started early) can't eat just to get the surgery over with and behind me

    Am I different?

Generally you feel like you can handle more soft foods because when you're first sleeved your stomach still is healing, nerves included so you might not feel the irritation, but it's vital to let your stomach heal. If you must chew, try gum.. I know you're not supposed to, but you're not supposed to eat food either so I'd say choose the lesser of the two evils
  22. I'm not telling anyone in my family either, besides my kids obviously, and my boyfriend. I am telling my co workers because they'll notice the obvious with me healing, and not throwing up anymore ha ha. They are close to me and very supportive though. As for everyone else, I'm telling everyone we're going to Cabo for vacation. They all have judged me for 7 years over "failing my band" and wasting the money. I'm not dealing with it again. I've been doing keto since March and have lost 25 lbs. So after my surgery I'm going to let them think that's why I'm still losing. I will still be eating keto. Just with a better tool.
  23. I'm not telling anyone because I'm a revision from lapband to sleeve.. and a lot of people in my life are extremely judgemental on how I spend my money and feel like I wasted all this money on a lapband, that it would be foolish to get another surgery that is "unecessary" they just don't get it. 8 years of this is enough.. I am telling my co workers because they are extremely supportive and a few very close friends, most are also revision patients that I met when I originally got my band..

    Didn't tell my sister

For you to group her into a category because she's bi-polar is pretty offensive. Just because she's bi-polar doesn't give you the right to use it as an excuse for her being an a*****e. Using someone's mental health diagnosis to make general blanket statements is no different that generalizing statements of race, sexual orientation, or religion. There are millions of stable, healthy people with that diagnosis, who live great lives everyday, and aren't assholes .
