    Band to sleeve - reflux

I'm the opposite.. I had no reflux with the band, but have had reflux ever since my sleeve. No heartburn with it, just the fluid coming up when I sleep...
  3. You're going to LOVE your sleeve!!! I had the exact same story as you! Couldn't eat anything healthy which made it so hard to lose no matter how hard I tried. I've been sleeved 3 months, and have lost 50 lbs!!! Down to 181 as of today. I love it. I actually get to fell FULL!! I can eat whatever I want which has really allowed me to put all the nutritional information I've learned over the years into place! You obviously still have to make good food choices. That goes without saying. But it's amazing how easy it is to lose weight!!! I was banded for 7.5 years, and my surgery was actually pretty rough. I has so much scar tissue all around my stomach, liver, and spleen that it ended up taking 5 hours and really had a lot of internal bleeding. My recovery was really hard but I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.
  4. I'm three months out, down 50 lbs since surgery. Down 61 lbs since pre op..

Cost of wls across the south

My surgery was in Cabo, with Bariatric Mexico. Dr Gerardo Garcia. It was $6,450. But $800 of that was a fee to remove my lapband. When it comes to surgery, you don't want a deal. You get what you pay for Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    When do you stop losing?

This isn't particularly true.. stalls happen simply to allow your body to reshuffle.. When you lose fat, your fat cells fill up with water to sort of hold their place.. it takes a few weeks for your body to release that fluid. Which is why sometimes you'll stall a few weeks and then drop 5 lbs in a few days. I stalled for 24 days and then lost 9 lbs in a week.. It's all a process.. just give your body time. Look at your food intake, watch your carbs, and drink plenty of water.. stay active.

    Worst.Stall.Ever.

I am still a newbie.. but I had a pretty long stall. I was sleeved July 13th.. I lost 42 lbs the first 7 weeks then stalled for 24 days!!! It's frustrating, but as soon as it breaks its a great feeling.. just try to stay focused and keep going forward.. a stall is way better than a gain so at least you aren't going backwards!! hang in there!

    MX Plastics

I follow several people on IG who had surgery from him **recently** and everyone of them have a wound that came open.. no others that have had surgery in the last few months on my followers list, with other surgeons, have had the same issue. Is that coincidence? Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    MX Plastics

I have so many friends who've had plastic surgery after weight loss, they have a long recovery and several check ups. How is that handled if we go to Mexico? Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. Not to mention the fact she thinks the only way to avoid complications is to follow surgeons directions and look at pictures? You can have plenty of complications simply from the surgeon, your body, or just the situation. It's a dangerous surgery and lots of people have complications the fact that she thinks that she's immune to them simply because she's in God's hands is ridiculous. Good luck to her... you all have done your part.. I appreciate this input. And hopefully the op does too.. Thankfully my surgeon was qualified and I did lots of research. 13. Well I started the keto diet before surgery and lost like 20 lbs so everyone is just assuming that's what I'm still doing... Which is true.. I'm just not including the limited portions into the detail to them Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. My surgery was in July. I didn't tell any friends or family except my co-workers. I have a really judgmental family and my coworkers are amazing I see them every day and they're extremely supportive. My kids my fiance and my co-workers know and that's it Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. My surgery was in Cabo, so I flew right into there. Mine was at Bariatric Mexico.. Dr. Garcia... little different than yours but close to the same name. lol
  16. What was the recovery like for you? My recovery was not typical.. I came home with chronic bronchitis and had one of the most violent coughs I've ever had in my life that last about two weeks. On top of all that, I had horrible scar tissue all over my band, liver and spleen from the lapband. I had an endoscopy prior to surgery that showed no indication of esophageal dilation, no erosion, or any symptoms of scar tissue. My 45 minute surgery took 5 hours because of all the adhesions and I lost a lot of blood. How long did it take from your consult to the surgery? 2 months Anyone with Cigna? Can you share your experience with insurance? No insurance What is the post op diet like? Similar to the band? Post op was much different that the band for me. It took about 3 weeks before I could get much more than liquids down, and even at that point I still struggled to even get in enough water. You just feel so full all the time. When were you sleeved and how much have you lost so far? July 12th of 2017, down 40 lbs since surgery. Been stalled for 3 weeks so that means I lost that 40 lbs in 6 weeks. The stall isn't a bad thing. I really needed time to let my body reshuffle.. and I've lost several inches in the stall time. Do you recommend the sleeve? Would do it again in a heartbeat!!!!
  17. I'm 6 weeks out and 35 lbs away from goal.. I'm worried I'll reach my goal too soon and keep losing weight. How do you slow it down? I can't eat high calorie foods, anything with sugar or dairy makes me sick. Anyone else worried about this?
  18. I didn't forget these items but I'm so thankful someone told me to bring them because they were invaluable!! An extension cord for my phone charger, and a heating pad. Didn't use anything else out of my suitcase except a hair thing and slipper socks. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    How do you stop losing?

I haven't hit goal yet.. 35 more lbs. My surgery weight was 231, today I'm 195 and losing gradually.. Haven't really had any stalls yet aside from PMS.. I was pretty bloated for 6 days.. but other than that I'm losing steadily. I started the Keto diet in March before my surgery. I have continued it post op.. maybe that's helping? I'm not sure.
  23. I had a revision surgery from Lapband to VSG with Dr. Gerado Garcia Alvarez, with Bariatric Mexico. The only pre op text I had here was an endoscopy, and that was just to make sure I didn't have any erosion from my lapband. Once I was in Mexico I had all my other test done. My surgery was at the center in Cabo, but they have 4 other locations as well.

2 weeks post op and a stall

You're not at a stall. A stall lasts for a week or two and it's just your body reshuffling. Your sleeve works. You just have to be patient. Every single person goes through stalls. Most are at 3 weeks when they introduce solids. You are on them now so that could be why. Just relax, it'll happen

    DUMPING IS REAL!!

In my case that's hot what dumping felt like.. it was more of an all over hot flash, really nauseated (even vomiting), rapid racing heart rate, and the need to lay down for a bit until it passes.. It was ROUGH!! Now I'm afraid to try anything new, scared for it to happen again.
