Very true. My surgeon told me that they don't like to advertise it, but they leave the original part of the stomach n duodenum inside. Idk if the same is true for sleeves, however. Sent from my LG-H918 using BariatricPal mobile app

Questions about bariatric surgery
WiseBeauty replied to skyewolfe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Your doctor sounds like s/he is very caring! I had to convince mine to approve the surgery because I "didn't look that big." So you're at least blessed in that regard, dear. [emoji4] I had the rou N Y (gastric bypass) on 5/9/17 and I've lost 40 lbs thus far. I've been walking a lot and getting more active and some pills have become unnecessary now XD. Bonus: I've been shopping every week for new clothes as I donate my old ones. Woohoo! There are a plethora of informational n testimonial videos on YouTube, too, if you want more variety of experiences. Sent from my LG-H918 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Damaged myself, alcohol?!
WiseBeauty replied to Chesney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As my surgeon said to me: "be sorry, but not too sorry. We are human, not machines, after all." Use that energy to learn and move on instead, dear. I hope you're feeling better, BTW! Sent from my LG-H918 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I'm new, too! Found this site right before surgery, but haven't used it as much as I have my fb support groups. Sent from my LG-H918 using BariatricPal mobile app

Medicare as Primary
WiseBeauty replied to Hoosier64's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once everything was submitted, I was approved about 2-3 weeks later. The hold up was due to my surgeon's team not submitting a surgery date and time frame for hospital stay when they submitted the authorization. But I have Medicaid, however, so Idk if things are different for you. Sent from my LG-H918 using BariatricPal mobile app -

You should definitely check with your surgeon or surgeon's RN. I was told that I can't take anything larger than a dime so I cut my tablets where I can. I'm also taking hairnamics (huge pills) to help lessen hair loss and I can now cut them in half and take them that way. If I must take acetaminophen, I take children's liquid otc for now. My other vitamins are chewables like Flintstones or celebrate (love their watermelon flavor). Sent from my LG-H918 using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm 3 weeks PO on Tuesday and, yeah, you're not the only one having trouble with water, dear. I used to be able to chug it down pre-op, now it makes me feel sick. Even distilled jug or filtered tap water are no-go's. So I tried propel and it goes down a lil easier, but it still feels gross. To compensate, I'm drinking fat free fairlife milk as often as possible and eating SF Popsicles. So, so far so good.

What is everyone "eating"?
WiseBeauty replied to NewChiGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been eating pureed versions of foods like chicken parmesean and egg salad 3x daily. I have to remind myself to eat otherwise, with all the walking I do, I'll get light headed. I will progress to solid foods tomorrow and I can't wait. Getting enough protein has been difficult especially since I have to cook separate meals for my son and myself (he needs high fat and protein due to his high metabolism) and I'm always on the go for my job. I just can't wait to have regular food again. What's interesting is that there are foods that my family eats that I no longer have the desire to eat. And the smell of some of them makes me nauseous now (like zebra cakes and honey buns). I'm looking forward to getting to know this new me. ☺️☺️ -

I can feel the self love emanating from this post! THAT arrival is one of life's goals for many on earth I believe. I'm exceedingly happy for you dear!!! And thank you for sharing your story! Sent from my LG-H918 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Mine didn't go so well at first either and it was scary. For the 1st 2 days, I was vomiting blood clots and couldn't even keep water down. The upper GI showed that I was suffering from edema because the contrast wasn't moving out of my stomach. With nothing else to do besides feel horrible and puke my guts out, I began meditating. My meditations helped a LOT in this situation because I began having buyer's remorse and a lot of negative self talk, but God kept sending me positive thoughts and feelings about my situation! So, during my meditations, I envisioned the edema settling down, healing, and the passing of liquids as they should and on the 4th day, I was finally allowed to have ice chips. And the gas is no joke especially when it rests in the shoulder! What was really awesome was that, while I was meditating to solfeggio tones on YouTube, I randomly looked up to find one of my nurses sitting in the recliner meditating with me! Love, in all its forms, is amazing! So, I have at least two good memories from that ordeal. ☺️ But I look forward to this new life. I've been home since Sunday and it's gotten a lil easier, but the healing is coming along nicely. This has been one helluva ride and I just started 😁.

WiseBeauty replied to Dknal2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
"I had been praying to God for a revelation in this marriage be it whatever way, good or bad because my spirit knew I wasn't being treated right and I knew he was messing around." That prayer right there works everytime I swear... No matter the issue. I'm glad you got your freedom honey! Good on you! Sent from my LG-V521 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Yup! Tomorrow is the big day and I'm packing my bags now. I can't believe the day has finally arrived... I've been dreaming of this new beginning for years and now it's here! This is so surreal! I hope yours goes well, too, dear.
