fireatak replied to weightwatcher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Is Feeling Like Crap The New "Full"? Is Restriction Possible w/No Fills??
fireatak replied to mommakatx2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just had my first fill on 4/28. Lost weight (10lbs) after surgery due to liquid diet (2 weeks) than stayed the same for 4 weeks (DR was OK with that) until my first fill. I now feel full higher up in my chest than pre band. I like it because it keeps my mind on what I am trying to do, lose weight! I have to remind myself to slow down when I eat! The wife and daughter help me. -

Had my first fill yesterday, it really killed my hunger pains. Eat slow, enjoy life! -
2 chewable kids multi's and 2 cal. 1 am than 1 pm It is my understanding that the body can only absorb 500-600 mg of cal at a time so more than that is a waste.

Sleep study and liquid diet questions
fireatak replied to rxdspncr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did a sleep study and was glad I did. After the first two weeks, now I sleep so much better and my BP and weight was down before the lap band. Still use cpap until doc says no more need, but it really makes me feel better in the morning. It really protects the heart. -
Bad experience with sleep study - need to vent
fireatak replied to Sue40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went thru all that also. Been on cpap since June. The best sleep I get and if I go away for a night and not take it, I can tell the difference. It's all part of the adventure of medicine. I sleep better, feel better and starting to look better and that was the plan all along. Doing it all for me! You can do it too! -

Banded on 3/19 Lost 9 pounds Doc said that I am to heal now, weight loss later. Just watch proteins and portion size First fill on 4/28, than the weight loss truley begins -
Take it easy, they moved your internal organs around a bit. It will all go away in a couple of days. I am at almost two weeks and the pains you feel, I felt, but they will go away. Watch your portions and amounts. keep it small. You can always have a little more than eating too much to begin with.

Soda - Is this dumb?
fireatak replied to SanDiegoPhotog's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have a problem. Cystal light or water is fine. Thought I would get withdrawl headaches but did not. I think the bubbles would hurt a little anyway. -

Had to jump thru a 6 month "supervised diet" and monthly office visits with BCBS. Weight loss is for the liver issue. Surgery done last webnesday, no problems. It is worth the wait. -
Just do it! Losing 100 lbs means better joints, better self esteem, better eating habits and your hubby will like it too. Diets are temp, lap band works and I am so glad I did it.

Love Maine, Snowmobile the county alot, stay in Caribou. Also had the band on March 19th. No problems, feel good. Only use the pain med at night, rolling over hurts a bit. It will get better, have some buising improving. On the treadmill for 30 minutes, no problems slow but sure and we will get it done!

What are the pains from? Gas, fullness, or surgery?
fireatak replied to AZnikki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had surgery on wednesday. Saturday morning feel very good. Took a nice shower, had a protein drink and just hanging out this weekend. If I start to feel hungry, a couple of sipps of water or broth and I am fine. This can work! -
anyone from NJ with BCBC?
fireatak replied to ericab3618's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had to go thru a 6 month supervised diet with my doc. Met him once a month. He put me on HBP meds and a sleep study. Was on cpap for several months before surgery. Primery Doc wrote letter as well as surgeon, no problems. Had surgery last wednesday, feel great. Doc says I should be off HBP meds and cpap after 6 months. Note: the cpap really makes me feel better. I sleep and feel much better with it. Don't wake up 5 times a night. Valley Hospital, Ridgewood and DR Davis is awesome!
