Do you find that vomiting has become part of your post VSG life?
KJencius replied to FamilyGuyNJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everytime I eat I get a stomach ache. There have been times where I came close to vomiting. My surgeons office told me it's because I am eating too much. That 4 bites is all I should be taking at each meal. Not happy [emoji53] Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I was told decaf tea is fine. And no coffee for 2-3 months. And when I do drink coffee, it should be decaf. That stinks cause I need the caffeine. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app

I went onto Match for one month. I did get dates but, there are a lot of scammers on there. People from overseas looking for money. Also, Match has "bait". Really good looking people to try and suck you in when there is no chance with them because they are set up on the sight to lure you in. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app

I am 1 month out today and still having regrets. I live with a constant stomach ache and low energy even though I am eating and taking my supplements. I had complications in the hospital which kept me in for another week. I made this decision for my health, but I feel worse now than before I had this done. VSG and hasimotto thyroid disorder
KJencius replied to Apple1's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had thyroid problems way before I considered weight loss surgery. The doctor found the problem, I went for a biopsy and it turned out to be cancer. I had my thyroid removed 2 1/2 years ago and have bern taking levothyroxine since. I was sleeved on April 24th. I have been consistently losing weight. I don't believe you will have a problem. Good luck! Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app -
When were you allowed low fat cream soups?
KJencius replied to FatPharm's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was allowed creamed soups when in the hospital, but found my body couldn't tollerate them. I also can't tollerate artificial sweetners. I was told about 90% of their patients can't. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app -
How often so you weigh in?
KJencius replied to maggieO's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I weigh myself once a week. I know if I weighed myswlf everyday, I wouldn't see the needle move. By weighing once a week, I see the change and do not get discouraged. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Hi! I agree with you that Premier Protein has the best flavor. My nutritionist had no problem with it. The problem I did have was being able to consume any protein drinks since my sleeve on April 24. Nothing agrees with me. I was told to stop drinking them for about a month or two and then try again. I have also tried Ensure, Glucerna, Muscle Milk, Carnation Instant Breakfast. I was then told that 90% of their patients can't tolerate artificial sweetners. Nice finding this out after I stocked up on everything low fat, no fat. So, I have been carefully eating regular foods, finding out what agrees with me and what doesn't. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app

I agree with you AKules. Going out to eat was always a social event. I can't imagine going out and being able to enjoy food the way I used to. I was sleeved on April 24, and even though I am limited in what I can eat at the moment, the thought of sitting at a dining table, picking at other peoples plates for my meal repulses me. I can order a meal, but I will take a few bites and be done while others continue to enjoy their meals. I love my food hot and the tiny bites and how much we have to chew before swallowing, it gets cold fast. And the leftovers at home the next day just doesn't taste the same. I am with you on this subject. It will be very hard. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app

3day post op, the protein shakes are killing me.
KJencius replied to Ylm87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had problems with protein shakes also. I was sleeved on April 24 and still can't get them down. I had a bad reaction and thr Doctors office told me that 90% of their patients have an adverse reaction to artificial sweetners. I was told to stop and wait a month or two and try again. No, not for the surgery. I was told the surgery was more like an hour. I needed a catheter because I had complications. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app

Thinking I ate something I shouldn't have.
KJencius replied to sc09's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My book for soft solids say lean, shaved deli meats. Perhaps you ate too much? Everybody is different. Maybe you weren't ready? When I was bumped up to soft solids I was told to go home and have a scrambled egg with a little cheese grated in. I got so sick that night, I was sure something was wrong. And I found out that the diet foods that have artificial sweetners don't agree with me either. I was told if something doesn't agree, put it away for a month or two and then try it again. Hi! I only had my surgery on April 24, but have had problems with scrambled egg, protein drinks, anything with artificial sweetners, plain water. There are foods I desperately miss and hopefully, as time goes on, I will be able to eat them again, even in smaller portions. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app

Who the heck is telling you your uglier now? Get away from them asap. You did this for yourself, your health. Please don't listen to them. I am thinking you are their verbal punching bag and that you probably look so good now that your looks are threatening to others. Hang in there, and fine new people to hang around with. Has Anyone Kept Their Surgery A Secret?
KJencius replied to Dtrain84's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I kept mine a secret except to my daughter and husband. I have a couple of reasons. First, it's no ones business. Second, I am embarrassed to admit I couldn't do it on my own. I ran into a couple of neighbors and they saw how poorly I looked. They didn't ask but I volunteered that it was "women" surgery, and there were complications (there were). If people ask about weight loss, just tell them you have been dieting. Again, it's nobodies business. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I am about 2 1/2 weeks since the surgery. I am not a happy camper. I was bleeding internally after so spent another week in. Went home and have been nauseas since. I found out that the artificial sweetners do not agree with me and was told 90% of patients have the same reaction. I am always tired and hardly eat because when they bumped me up to soft foods, I had 1 egg, which I didn't finish and was sick in the bathroom all night. I have a constant sour taste in my mouth, no matter what I eat or drink or how much I brush my teeth, or use mouthwash. Anyone else have the same problem? Losing required weight pre-op
KJencius replied to heidiwawasee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good luck. You will be in my thoughts. You will do it. Some people lose it faster than others. My problem was moving around. With a pinched nerve, 2 bulging discs, torn meniscus in both knees with severe arthritis, I was sedentary a lot. I think that was my problem. You will get there. Just eliminate the timeline. Losing required weight pre-op
KJencius replied to heidiwawasee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can sympathize. I had the same problem. My surgery was held up because my insurance didn't feel I put in enough time and energy into losing the weight. I was required to lose 10 lbs to show them I was serious. I took my time, I drank protein shakes, walked a bit more and kept going for weight checks until I got there. Don't give yourself a timeline. It will drive you crazy. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I have tried that. I eat nothing in the morning, soup at lunch and soup for dinner. I usually ate dinner between 5-6. Then moved it back to 4:00pm. Then 3. No better. Inwas told at the doctors office yesterday they are moving me up to foods. I had one scrambled egg with a little provolone shredded in. The reaction to it was someone violent. Explosive diarrhea, numerous times with horrible cramping all night. So painful I was doubled over. I can't lie down to sleep because the pain is more severe. I was told I could take imodium. I broke one up and took it, with no help. So I took a second. Nothing. I am calling my Doctors office today when they open and telling them I think something is wrong. Thank you for your response. When I said alka-seltzer, I should have said the heartburn and gas relief chews. I am on broths and butternut squash soup. But for the evening meal, no matter what, I get full of gas. But only in the evenings Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app

I am having a similar reaction. Gas-X and Alka-Seltzer don't touch it. I'm not vomiting but get nauseas. I was sent home with nausea meds to be mixed in with apple sauce. Unfortunately, I am having a bad reaction to anything with fruit and any dairy. My food intake is 1/2 cup of something at lunch and the same with dinner, with only a cup of tea for breakfast. I am miserable. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app

I am 2 weeks out and the gas is horrendous. I have both gas-x and alka-seltzer and neither touches it. I am having bad reactions to anything fruit and dairy. My food intake is very little. So no shakes, no apple sauce or fruit juices, nothing. I can't even take the Celebrate calcium plus chewables because they contain milk. My surgeons office tells me to hang in there, it will get better. But when? I am weak, get easily winded when I go for a walk, etc. I am miserable. If I had known my life would be like this after my surgery, I never would have had this done. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app

Today is 2 weeks since my surgery. I had complications from day one. On my 3rd attempt at taking a walk in the hospital, I almost passed out. My heart rate shot up, I turned sheet white and the conclusion was I had a "bleeder". They kept me in an extra week and it was slow going for the doctors to get any numbers to go up. I had urinary catheter in, 2 IV's, etc. I even had trouble getting food in me, because I would gag. As my numbers started going up, they sent me home. Since being home, I can't sleep a full night, found I am having reactions to anything with fruit and dairy. Terrible gas pains that Gas-X and Alka-Seltzer gass relief don't even touch. I had called my surgeons office on Friday and his assistant assured me it will get better. I go back to the doctors office today for my first appointment. I am glad cause I want them to see me. All in all I am miserable and feeling this was the worst mistake I have made. Anyone else with similar problems? How did you overcome them? Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app

Very emotional after the sleeve procedure
KJencius replied to carlychloe2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am only 14 days out and I cry at the drop of a hat. What your feeling is normal. Personally, I don't care for it because I am not normally so emotional, but I have come to appreciate the release it gives me. Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app
