  1. I am 5 days out from my surgery, and beforehand, I was on that same emotional rollercoaster. But I can tell you, the surgery is actually the easy part. I felt the pre-op liquid diet was the worst so far. After surgery, it is important to concentrate on getting in your liquids and walk, walk, walk. I was given a pain reliever on schedule during my short hospital stay even though I never asked for it. After the hospital, I have not needed anything for pain. My only issue was the gas pains. The thing that helps the most with that is to walk. My only other issue was drinking too much broth and not enough water the 2 days after surgery. The high salt intake caused me to swell. But that was my fault for not drinking enough water and too much broth. It is normal to be nervous about the unknown. But I will tell you, for me, the surgery and post op has been a breeze compared to the pre-op. Hope this helps. Please contact me with any questions. You've made it this far. You've got this!
  2. I had my sleeve done yesterday, May 8th. I had already shared my fears and concern 2 days prior as well. I am now awaiting my shuttle to head back to my hotel as we speak. So far I am having very, very little complications. The only issue I had was gas/CO2 level pains. But nothing that is intolerable. My experience, so far has been wonderful. My advice to you all is to remember why you were compelled to have the surgery in the first place. It is different for everyone of course. You have all come this far, and I believe probably the worst of it is over. I feel the worst part so far was the liquid diet prior to surgery. And most of you have already completed most of this part by now. For 24 hours after surgery all you can have is ice and water. But what is so crazy is that at almost 24 hours post surgery with only water and ice, I'm not even hungry! Food is not on my mind right now. And that is a first in over 25 years! You have all made it this far. Please believe me when I say, you've got this. You've made it this far, you've got this. Good luck to you all. If you have an experience even only half as good as mine was at the OCC with Dr. Ariel Ortiz, then you certainly will be glad you went through with the surgery.
  3. I completely know how you feel. My sleeve surgery is May 8th, less than 48 hours from now. When I first decided on getting the sleeve surgery, I did tons and tons of research on the surgery, different hospitals, the surgeons, you name it, I researched it. After I made my decision on who was going to do it and where, I was elated and very confident in my decision. But now with only 2 days pre surgery, I have been a whirlwind of emotions! At times, I will just burst out into happy elated laughter and at others terrified tears. No, I'm not bipolar, this is just normal emotions for such a huge life changing decision. Did I make the right decision? What if something happens so far away from home as I am from the US and having it in Mexico? What if, what if, what if???? However, I have already had wonderful support from the doctors, customer service and nutritionists with any and all questions I have had. I think a miriad of emotions is normal for anyone that is being put to sleep. Whether it is by choice or emergent. I feel sure as soon as you have the surgery, you will be so happy you made this decision to change your life. And then you will be on to a whole other set of emotions as you see your life getting better and healthier day after day. Good luck. I pray you will do fabulous.
