    May Sleevers?

I'm officially on the loses bench! Got sleeved on Wed, came home from hospital the next day around 5pm. I had a few setbacks when I was in the hospital that revolved around the pain medicine. No matter what they gave me I would start throwing up even if they gave me anti-nausea meds, so I haven't had pain medicine in about 24 hours. I'm trying to power through without the pain meds because I want to be able to keep my liquids down which I wasn't able to do when I kept gagging. Getting liquids in is a chore, but I'm making myself do it. Same with getting up and walking around the house. I've never felt this tired. I can't sleep more than 2 hrs at a time, so I'm sure that's part of the problem. I'm trying not to let the pain keep me down, I know it's only temporary. Good luck fellow May sleevers!
  2. My Dr won't send the paperwork to insurance until you have a surgery date. I had my last meeting with him on Thursday (6 days ago) and he scheduled me for 13 days out. I got a call last night from the hospital about my pre-admission testing. I have to go on Friday morning. This morning I called my insurance (BCBS Federal Employee) and they said the authorization is still in process. I'm going to be really upset if I go through the 2 week pre-op diet and pre-admission testing only to find out insurance said no. Did anyone else do it this way? It seems kind of backwards to me....

    Scheduled but NOT approved... Normal?

So apparently all I has to do was post abut it for it to happen - approval came through today! 6 days til surgery!

    Help!!

Why are you having a hard time? Do you not have the required documents? You fall within the expedite window, so you should be able to go to a local acceptance agent and pay the $60 expedite fee. As far as being afraid of fitting, you'll need to call the airline and discuss your concerns with them.
  5. Despite my size/weight I am very physically active. I go to Crossift 4 x's a week (and have for almost 2 years) and I've ran in several mud run/obstacle course races. I have one scheduled (paid for, no refund) 2w3d after my sleeve surgery. My surgeon said he will most likely release me for exercise at my 2 week check up and he doesn't see why I can't do the race. I'm just curious how most of you were feeling 2 weeks out. I'm wondering if I should just forget the money wasted and get it in my head now that I'm not doing the race. My husband said he'll walk the course with me and I don't have to do any obstacles, I can walk around them. I have done this race for the last 3 years and I was really looking forward to it, but I don't want to have unrealistic expectations of the recovery process.

    Mud Run 2w3d Post-op? Crazy?

Thanks for all of the great replies! To answer the question, it's a combo mud run/obstacle course race. If I walk around the obstacles I shouldn't get muddy at all. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how I feel. I feel like I have an unrealistic expectation of what recovery is going to entail, in that I'm already making plans to meet friends and take my kids to Drs appointments in the days following the surgery. I might be in for a rude awakening!

    Who are you telling (pre-op)?

My husband and mother (who had gastric bypass), that's all. I told work I'm getting my gallbladder out. I'll tell close friends after when they start asking questions. I'm a very private person so it's not unlike me at all to do it this way, and I know they will understand.

    How long was your process?

On Jan 16 I attended the Info seminar, I had 3 months nutrition appointments (insurance mandated), and the usual pre-reqs, and as long as I'm approved (submitted last week) I will have surgery on May 17th. So, 4 months from start to finish, which I don't think is awful.
  9. I was just in Brussels in November for their Christmas Market I was also alone (work trip). Do you speak French? I do not, and was able to easily get around there. Just about everywhere offered menus in English, too -- you just have to ask. Same with signs, almost everything is in French and English. How long are you staying? Do you have any plans? I did a great walking tour of the city when I was there and it was "free" (you just tipped the guide at the end. most people gave 10 euro). I just came home last week after spending 2 weeks in France and Italy. I'm really looking forward to traveling after my sleeve surgery, I know I'll enjoy it even more.

    May Sleevers?

This is my first post on this forum As long as all goes well in Insurance Land I will be getting sleeved in 12 days (eeeeeeek!) May 17th is THE DAY! I came home on Monday after eating and drinking my way around France and Italy for 2 weeks (best food funeral ever, btw). Even better, I was only up 2.5 lbs from when I left, which was the day after my last visit for my 3 month supervised diet. I wanted to be sure I was under my last recorded weight when I went back to see the surgeon yesterday for my final pre-op visit, so I started my office's pre-op diet just to drop a few pounds. Well, that worked out in my favor b/c they were able to schedule me 13 days out instead of 19 (they only do WLS on Tue & Wed). So, I'm powering through the pre-op diet . My office does 2 - 3 approved protein shakes a day (I use Premier) and 1 high protein, low carb meal a day, with the option to snack on raw veggies whenever. I'm feeling pretty good so far. This weekend I'm planning on preparing for post-surgery meals for my family. I'm a big meal prepper so I'm going to make sure the hubs and 3 kids are set for food so I don't have to cook when I can't eat anything. Looking forward to sharing my journey with everyone! I love reading about your journeys.
