Are you ready for tomorrow???!!! I am scheduled for 8:00 am. I am super nervous and a tiny bit excited. I have had some fantasies that involve backing out, but I know that's not going to happen. I had a dream that I lost a ton of weight in my breasts (awesome) but they were left in a conical shape and felt like cellophane. Nightmare!

What Were Your Most Helpful Pre-Op Preparations?
Redo2017 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am scheduled for the sleeve July 10 and I am doing as much as I can now to prepare for my return from the hospital. I just made sugar free popsicles and jello with unflavored protein powder. For those of you who are post-op, what did you do to prepare? What do you wish you would have done? -
How are all July 7th sleevers doing?
-
Did your doc allow you to take Benefiber during your pre-op diet? That probably would help with your bowels. I am July 10th too and I am very nervous and excited!
-
I am also focusing on the positive things to come to get me through the anxiety and fear. I was thinking about how great the beach will be when I am (hopefully) down 100 lbs this time next year! Give us an update on your surgery when you are feeling up to it. I am hoping for a pain free recovery for you tomorrow!

I am on day two of my pre-op diet. Anyone with me? I feel like I need to keep talking about it to help stay motivated! My pre-op diet consists of two protein shakes a day and one meal consisting of a protein and non-starchy veggies. I've been on similar diets before, but not for a loooong time. The shakes my program provided are intensely sweet. I'm thinking about adding more water to help dilute the taste.

Can't wait for your update! Congratulations on your big day tomorrow!

I just received my surgery time: 8:00 a.m. on July 10th! I am so nervous!

To tell or not to tell..that is the question?
Redo2017 replied to nycteacher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this advice. I am having gastric sleeve on July 10th and I have only told my husband. I have shared with close family and friends that I have made and will continue to make massive life-style changes to improve my health, and that is the honest truth. For me, I do not feel any sort of pressure or obligation to tell anyone about my surgery. Why should anyone be entitled to that information? Best of luck on your journey! -
Have any July 1-4 people come back to the site to check in? I'd love to hear how everyone is doing! I really need the motivation for my July 10th date. So nervous!

Who's Currently In Pre-Op Diet Phase?
Redo2017 replied to Redo2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had some broth today to take the edge off the hunger. I hated it until I added pepper and some cilantro. Only one more week of preop diet for me, then I imagine it's going to get a lot harder! Though I'm hoping that hunger won't be a problem post op. It's really the hunger that's killing me during the post op diet, and I mean stomach rumbling hunger. I always wonder, do thin people walk around hungry all the time? -
Does your pre-op program allow sugar free jello? I've been mixing flavorless protein powder into that for a nutritious snack. It totally curbs the cravings.

Haha! Couldn't have said it better. The first few days were a breeze. Now I feel like I should be a skeleton but I still have 100+ pounds to lose!

My understanding is that if you post in a closed group, your activity may show up in your friends' feed. The only way to avoid facebook friends all being informed of your membership/activity in a group is for the group to be set for secret.

Who's Currently In Pre-Op Diet Phase?

It's tough, but we can do it! I always think of the regret I would have in the morning if I allow myself to cheat on the pre-op diet. -
I'm a secret sleever too, so I have not joined the FB group. The group is set to private, but not secret. In a secret group you cannot see the members.

Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?
Redo2017 replied to surviving5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some sugar free Jello last night and it was the best thing I've ever eaten! -
I would like to join, but my understanding of a private Facebook group is that anyone can search the group and see who its members are. I am not sharing my surgery with anyone other than my husband , so I do not want my membership to be searchable. Starting a FB group was a great idea, though! Hopefully everyone will still pop in on this site too!

There is a July 2017 support thread in this forum under gastric sleeve support, support by month. You can find other July sleevers posting in there, such as myself. My surgery date is July 10.

Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?

How are you doing on the liquid diet? My program allows for one meal a day of protein and non-starchy veggies, which is a god-send. I've really been sticking to it and I'm proud of myself. Today I did get some major head hunger in the afternoon. I honestly felt like a cookie junkie. -
I seriously can't believe it! Crying from Happiness!

Good idea! Thanks! -
Did you go through with the surgery? I am really nervous about my upcoming surgery as well. I'm curious to see how you managed. Hope you are well!

Many physicians have malpractice suits filed against them, but those are simply allegations. I know that my surgeon has been sued for malpractice before, but it does not worry me at all because there was no finding of wrongdoing on his part. Some people tend to blame their physicians when anything goes wrong, even when the complication arose from non-compliance or preexisting conditions. That is why physicians pay a lot of money for malpractice insurance. If your surgeon has multiple judgments against him where a court/jury found that he committed malpractice, that may be a cause for concern. All that being said, I think that if you are uncomfortable with your surgeon for any reason at all, you should not let him perform surgery on you.

There are a few of us July 10 people out there! I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. Nervous and excited!
