Let's share some post op tips! My best tool so far has been Unjury chicken broth flavor. One scoop in eight oz of water is 21 grams of protein. I put my daily benefiber in there and it's great! I'm also loving my homemade crystal light popsicles with added unflavored protein powder. Who else has post op tips?

I'm day 8 post-op today and I just started feeling hungry yesterday. I was thinking that maybe I need more protein so I decided to try to eat a little more today. I am on pureed foods and I ate about two thirds of a scrambled egg this morning, a protein shake for lunch, and sugar free jello for a snack. I also added unflavored protein powder to a bottle of water. I'm still feeling a little bit of hunger, but not nearly as much as yesterday.

I'm hovering around 45-50 oz of water. I'm lucky if I get in 40-50 g of protein. I've found that replacing one meal with a protein shake and adding unflavored protein to beverages has really helped. Also 7 days out.

I was very scared before my surgery, exactly one week ago today. Now I am feeling great and so glad I did it. You will be too! Update us when you're out!

Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?
Redo2017 replied to surviving5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really seasoned the chicken well and grilled it, then puréed it in bone broth, so it's more like a super thick soup than anything. I made home made baby food for all of my kids, so it kind of got me over the puréed meat thing! Commercial baby food puréed "meat" is really disgusting. I'm going to have to try puréed egg salad. That sounds amazing. I have done some scrambled eggs, which my program allows us to eat without them being puréed. Those taste really good. -
Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?
Redo2017 replied to surviving5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on July 10. Here's my update 6 days out: my program had me on liquids until post-op day three. Now I'm in the midst of purees. I can eat a couple level tablespoons of purees, tops. I've been eating two meals of protein purees, such as chicken puréed with bone broth, and replacing one meal a day with a protein shake to help me get in fluids and protein. I've been able to get in around 40-45 grams of protein a day in these last couple days and around 40 ounces of water. I'm hoping I'll be up to at least 60 grams of protein and 64 ounces of water a day by next week some time. My pain is totally minimal at this point. I'm really feeling great and already so happy that I made the decision to go through with this. I have a little bit of an appetite but I'm totally satisfied with the tiny portions I've been eating. Good luck to all the July sleevers coming up and I can't wait to hear how everyone one else is doing post-op! -
I had the sleeve on 7/10 and I'm trying to navigate the whole eating thing. How do you determine how much you can take in? I'm on clear liquids through today and move to purees tomorrow. It's taken me 20 minutes to get 3oz of broth down because I'm scared of eating too much and vomiting or feeling pain. Am I being too cautious? Any advice?

Grocery list: essentials for pre-op liquid diet?
Redo2017 replied to RedOrangeSunrise's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I use Unjury unflavored protein powder and I'm very happy with it. You can get it on their website at www.unjury.com. I also highly recommend their chicken broth flavored protein powder. -
Congratulations on your sleeve! I was sleeved 7/10. Isn't it crazy how food just drops off the radar??
-
I bought it through the Unjury website, www.unjury.com.

This recipe sounds great, but my program does not allow tomatoes or tomato sauce until 75% of excess weight loss (along with all starchy veggies and carbs). Tomato sauce may be the hardest thing to go without for me because it is so versatile.

Sleeve completed 7/6 & they are ready to send me back to work 7/18

I had a tubal during my last c-section and I agree that it was the most painful. Way worse than the sleeve, when I really think about it. I remember being in tears to the nurse the night after the c/tubal, and that's saying a lot. I usually try to hold it together in front of strangers! -

That's great! Believe me, if I could be away from the office longer I would. I'm not looking forward to public transportation on Monday. I've had 3 caesareans. Did you think the sleeve was worse than the c-sections? I think that the discomfort and pain within the first two days was similar, but I have healed much faster and have gotten closer to "normal" a lot faster after the sleeve. -

If you have the time, take it. Life is too short to work all the time! You never know how fast you will recover, however! I was sleeved 7/10 and went for a 3 mile hike today. Returning to work on Monday. I never expected to be feeling well so quickly. -
I'm in the puréed food stage right now. For lunch today I marinated a chicken breast, grilled it, and puréed it with some chicken bone broth in the blender. It was really good and will probably last me several days. I could only eat a few tiny bites. My program requires strictly protein during the purée stage.

Let's Get it Started, July 2017 Sleevers!

I have been making crystal lite popsicles with flavor free protein powder in them. It has been easy on my stomach because it goes in very slowly. That may work for you too. -
Thinking of joining WW ?

I lost and gained between 20 and 55 pounds four times on weight watchers. When I last did the program there was little emphasis on reducing carbohydrates and increasing proteins. I felt at the time that the program was behind the times. From what I've read, they've changed their approach a bit since then. I still would not ever do it again because all but a small handful of patrons at my meetings were just like me: yo-yoing all over the place for 49.99 a month. -

Wow. Talk about taking things too far. You must be a very unhappy person. I pity you, not only because you spew hatred, but also because you don't proofread. -
I had muscle cramps that dissipated on post-op day 4. My doc said it was totally normal. As for weight gain, you are likely retaining fluids from your hospital IV. That weight will be gone in no time!

Today is my fifth day post-op and I can assure you that it does get better! My son keeps asking how close to 100% better I am. Today I told him that I am at 75%, which I think is pretty great! For me, yesterday was really a turning point. Feel better! -
I had my cycle during surgery and while in the hospital. I made my surgeon aware of it and he told me that using tampons was ok. I'd just let your surgeon know to make sure they approve it as well.

Every plan is different. My program has one of the shorter liquid stages I've seen.

Let's Get it Started, July 2017 Sleevers!

I am just over 24 hours out. I felt like I was kicked by a horse. Pain and discomfort peaked at about 12 hours out and now I'm steadily improving. I can't wait to go home. My biggest complaint is my uncomfortable hospital bed. -
Glad to hear you are well! I go under tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. I don't expect to get much sleep tonight!
