    Resolution of Sleep Apnea

Oh my gosh, the dryness! I thought I was the only one! I have adjusted the humidity level on my machine and I still wake up with the driest mouth ever. It is miserable. I wonder what this is all about? I never had it happen until post-op. And I am getting in plenty of water every day without fail.

    Resolution of Sleep Apnea

It is awesome that you don't need the cpap anymore! I am really hoping that I will be as fortunate. I didn't develop apnea until my weight really crept up, so hopefully it will resolve with more weight loss!

    Resolution of Sleep Apnea

I haven't had another sleep study but I did sleep with my mask off for a few hours recently. My husband said I was still snoring and I woke up with a headache. That was the telltale sign when I was first diagnosed. But you are right, I do need a follow-up soon enough to see where I'm at. Thank you for your encouragement!

    Ready! July 10 surgery

How are all the July 10th people doing? Anyone else in a stall like me? I've been following my plan exactly, so it's pretty frustrating. I upped my protein the last time this happened, so I'm thinking of trying that again.

    LET'S TACKLE FALL CHALLENGE

I'm in the midst of what may be a stall right now. Either that or my weight is going to continue coming of one ounce at a time! It's tough when you stick to your plan and don't see the losses you are expecting. Im trying to stay positive!

    Work, Work, Work

I too have a heavy thinking desk job. I took off one week after VSG. When I returned I felt physically capable, but mentally I wasn't 100% on my game until day three back at work. Regardless, one week off was adequate for me. I told my boss I was having surgery for a hiatal hernia. I wanted him to understand that I was out for abdominal surgery, but didn't want to share the VSG info with him. Good luck!
  13. Unfortunately, I do not feel like I can trust myself at this point to limit myself to a single splurge item. If I allow myself to have one cracker with PB&J (which is one of my weaknesses, by the way!) it will lead to ten of them every night. That being said, I think that if you can control yourself and stick to this one indulgence there is nothing wrong with that. For food addicts/portion dysphorics like myself, it seems like a slippery slope.

    HELP! FOOD!

I agree. Always best to check with your program before deciding to consume anything. If Wendy's chili is on your plan then go for it.

Diet at 6 wks post op

I loved bacon before VSG and somehow it is as if the VSG has elevated the bacon flavor to an even more superior deliciousness. I have a fried egg and two strips of bacon for breakfast every Saturday and I spend all week thinking about the bacon. Delicious bacon.
  16. That would be too high in carbs and sugar for my program, but you should see what your specific program allows.

    HELP! FOOD!

Wendy's chili was not on my plan, nor were mashed potatoes. On my plan, my travel foods during the puree foods stage were cottage cheese, chicken salad, and sugar free jello. If your plan allows yogurt, that is a good option to pack too.

    Surgery tomorrow

Expect pain, or at the minimum, discomfort. But have no fear, this will all be managed by your hospital team!

    HELP! FOOD!

In my humble opinion, the best option is to pack a cooler with foods that you know are on your plan and palatable. There is a lot of uncertainty when you are on the road which could lead to a situation where there are no options that are on plan.
  20. In the week that I thought I was stalled I ended up losing 1.6 lbs on day 7. I've realized that without adequate fluid intake my weight comes off incredibly slowly. I aim for 100 ounces a day, but usually get around 85 ounces on average. Anything less than 64 ounces a day and I can be sure that the weight will hardly budge.

    Constipation

I would suggest benefiber everyday until you start adding more fiber into your diet. A stool softener is a good idea as well. Stool may be very hard to pass after no going for so long.

    What are your staple meals?

Home made chili with lean beef, red and green pepper, and zucchini. With bone broth base for an extra kick of protein.
  23. 16 pounds. Two shakes a day and one meal consisting of protein and veg.
  24. Today marks one month post op for me and I am feeling great! 22.5 pounds down since surgery, 36.9 pounds down since start of pre op diet. I have never regretted the surgery for one second and am looking forward to shedding more of this excess weight! I have a significant decrease in lower back pain, increase in energy, sleeping better, and I feel in control of my eating habits for the first time in a long time. I hope that the rest of you July sleevers are doing well!
  25. Right???!!! I thought the three week stall was a myth. The Lochness monster of the WLS world, if you will. Then BAM! Three week stall, right on schedule.
