  1. Can anyone recommend a good tasting brand? My 1st day of my liquid diet is today along with my pre op and it's too late for Amazon. One thing I will say is that I am looking forward to not spending so much money on food. My office orders takeout every day (some days it is paid for). I work in an Italian neighborhood full of yummy restaurants. It is so hard to resist normally but the liquid diet will give me the push to say no. I've even asked the receptionist to leave me off the daily emails.
  2. Hi everyone. I get sleeved on the 13th of this month at beth Israel deaconess in Boston. I'm on day one of my pre op liquid diet. My pre op exam is this morning at the hospital. About a month ago I saw a recommendation for a popular post op low sugar shake that was still tasty and went down easy but since can't find that posting, even with the search function. I also saw on this forum someone mentioning protein water. May someone who has already succeeded with this and liked what they purchased let me know what they did? Just wanting to be proactive and get my Amazon order in. Thanks
  3. Thank you for your input. I do have premier shakes for pre op but it's too much sugar for post op. i wasn't aware they made low sugar ones I'll have to check that out
  4. Thank you so much for your input. I have not even heard of bone broth until now
  5. Wow those do sound tasty though. Thanks for your recommendation! I'll go tonight and look
  6. I have blue cross blue shield of Massachusetts and they took about 3 weeks. After the appointment with my surgeon, his schedulers make the appointments 4 weeks for everyone who sees him that day out as a default, even if you're approved sooner. My surgeon met with 4 people as group and then we all see him one on one and get scheduled for the same block of surgery times unless he finds a complication. I've heard that the Tufts health plan is difficult to be approved for and their evaluation is lengthy so it always could be worse. Good luck!

Trying to find my sleeve twins!!

Do you want to form a secret group on Facebook for june sleevers? I joined an rny one and was embarrassed because I thought it was for sleeve and I was in the wrong forum. Would like to set up a sleeve group
  11. Congratulations ! I hope you are doing well
  12. I'm just scared because I don't have family nearby so if something goes wrong I'm at the mercy of my sister being able to answer her phone 3000 miles away. Other than that I feel it's the right choice.
  13. Don't worry about it. There are plenty of adults who take medication for that kind of thing at some point in their lives. If they disqualified patients over it, then they probably couldn't make money doing this.

Trying to find my sleeve twins!!

Hi rob I am Getting mine on the 12th =) unfortunately I am not on Instagram though if you want my name on Facebook I'll give it to you
  15. With my doctors in order for you to fail the psych eval you'd have to either admit to continuing to smoke cigarettes/drugs or if you've been hospitalized for mental health reasons within 1 years time they will say no. Some hospitals might be more lenient or strict but this is what the nurse (that works with the counselor) told me. If you get to do your eval online, even better. Mine was in person
  16. Curious about Mexico. Do you do the recovery in a hotel? My dr says patients aren't cleared to fly for about a month

    Who are you telling (pre-op)?

I have told more than a few people, about the sleeve because every time I thought I had a time frame for the surgery, it would be delayed. I'd be asked to commit to projects and dates and my response would be "I don't know" a lot until I was called on it. I'm a horrible liar, so outside my friends and Family I had told my coworkers, my bible study group, some other volunteers I meet with. Some of the people I have told have been outwardly judgmental. "Really? You want to do that?" My company has an attorney that works on site and he gave me some bad advice that when I request the recovery off from work that I should lie and say I'm getting my gall bladder removed instead of the truth. There is no way I was going to do that. My boss asked for more specifics and I just told him it was a procedure to help with my sleep apnea, and high blood pressure and will help avoid heart disease and diabetes. He probably knows what it is anyway but this way I don't have to lie about it and still keep some dignity. I suggest if you're not like me and have a better poker face and you can strictly keep it on a need to know basis do that. Some of my friends could not keep a poker face either, as their faces gave away their reaction but their words were different. Surprisingly I had asked a coworkers wife about her experiences with the roux n y surgery she had, and she said it was a very positive experience for her but discouraged me from having a surgery which I couldn't figure out why. Thankfully my family members were more supportive as they've seen me struggle with hypothyroidism all my life. But his has been a real learning experience for me
  18. Hi everyone. I am a new member of this forum, however I am not new to constantly visiting and reading about people's experiences. I am from Boston and I just got my date to be sleeved June 9th at Beth Israel Deaconess medical Center. My BMi is 39 and I found out while going through this process that I have sleep apnea which made me eligible through insurance. I am also going to be part of a study with brown university in Rhode Island that will match me with a fit bit, one of their smart phones and a device that counts swallows to see if this helps patients stay on track. I am excited but I am very nervous as I live alone and am hesitant to bother people to help me. Anyone else who had struggled with this?
  19. Just be Careful about asking to remove the gall bladder if you want insurance to pay for it. The doctor will have to prove it is medically necessary (you have gallstones) in order to justify it. If you have not had an ultrasound then you might try and see if you have any and then have the surgeries jointly. Good luck

    Any June Sleevers!?!

I am June 12th too. Thank you for the person who answered about hypothyroidism

    June dates

Thank you for your kind reply. I was thinking about using people from my church as they are local and kind to help. I'll have my cpap machine and all the clothes and supplies I took with me. I wondered if I could Uber home myself. Not all my friends were supportive of this decision, as my closest friend I am missing an annual trip we take every spring, and her birthday to do this, which makes me feel like a crappy friend. She's also an hour away. All my family members are far away. I've recovered from surgery by myself before from having my thyroid glad out a few years ago which gave me the confidence to do this. Just nervous now.

Want opinion on do I tell

Good luck. Just be weary. You never know who's going to have an opinion about your surgery and he might have a negative reaction you didn't expect. But I do agree with the Person who says he is going to know something is up depending on how frequent you see each other.
