I can eat something one day and the next I can't tolerate it?
Savagegirl replied to Flutterfly's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’m 6 months out and this happens to me too. A scrambled egg goes down one day and the next it hurts and comes back up. Same with several things. -
6 Mos Post RNY-Diagnosed with Breast Cancer
Savagegirl replied to Savagegirl's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you so much! I’m ER+PR+HER2+. I just got the results of my PET scan yesterday and it confirms the MRI results of no spread. I feel very lucky. Excellent idea about the bone broth. I think I’ll start a batch tomorrow as I start chemo/HER2 treatment Monday am and I have unflavored protein powder too. -
I can't tolerate some basic foods still and may never. Scrambled eggs and chicken come right back up, for example. I am supposed to be getting 80-100 grams of protein in a day now. Wish I could tolerate more foods! Here I am two days before surgery and then two days ago. Went from size 22 pants to size 16. Tops were 3x and now XL. That's the fun part!

What were the results? Do you need the gallbladder out?

Excellent!! Congratulations!! You look amazing. -
It all depends. I didn't have any pain meds and didn't feel much pain after except at the incision sites when I would get up out of bed. You might not have any either.
-
Oh yes you will have that feeling for a couple of weeks until it all heals! You won't be pulling the stitches out, but it will feel like it.

6 weeks out+baby back ribs=DUMP
Savagegirl replied to Fredmeister's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That's not dumping syndrome but it's painful nonetheless. Baby back ribs seem like something to eat after a year, not now. -
5 week post op and i'm starting to see some difference
Savagegirl replied to Pakko's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You look great and I hope you feel good too. It will feel even better as you move down in sizes! -
I'm 3 months + post op and never feel hungry. No longer have that sensation. I've gone half a day without eating. (Not recommended!) I do feel full right away after eating about 1/4 cup of solids.
-
Yeah! Stick with the plan and it will come off!

what is your ht/wt and clothing size?
Savagegirl replied to makemyownluck's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 5'10" and I was 310 and wore size 3x tops and 22 pants. I am 3 months post gastric bypass and now weigh 238 and am a size 18 pants and size 2X or even 1X top, depending on style. I am wondering if I will get down to a size 12 pants if I hit my goal weight of 180-185, or if I will be something like a size 14. Not sure. -
Am I EVER GOING TO ENJOY FOOD EVER AGAIN
Savagegirl replied to KKLive's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
KKLIVE I had my surgery May 8 and I still feel that way and wonder when the "switch" will come and I can eat small portions of food where it tastes good. Everything has a sour taste, or is too sweet. Then I get a gagging type reflex off of yogurts and protein shakes as I can't stand one more. Today's lunch was 1/2 of refried beans with some shredded cheese, a tablespoon of salsa, and a teaspoon of sour cream on top. I had a protein shake this am and that's all I've had all day. I dread thinking about the next meal as it will look good, but there is that weird taste. But I'm hanging in there and hoping to turn a corner soon! Hope you do the same. -
Hope it all went well!! It's a big day!

When did everyone begin increasing their calories?
Savagegirl replied to sammy246's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm also three months out soon and hover around 500-700 calories a day. I don't think I could eat more as I struggle with solid foods as it is. I really would love some rotisserie chicken soon without throwing up. -
ANYONE GET THERE SURGERY MAY 2017
Savagegirl replied to Precious517's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
LittleM- it has fallen off pretty fast but I really struggle with eating, getting protein in, and getting 64 oz of fluids in every day. I barely exercise. I'm trying to set mini goals and do better on each. Need more energy! I need to lose 50-60 more and it will stop coming off so fast soon and I'll have to work at it more. Best of luck to you! -
ANYONE GET THERE SURGERY MAY 2017
Savagegirl replied to Precious517's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes, May 8. I've lost about 69 pounds so far. -
I had mine at Scripps LaJolla but I'll ask my OC friends who have had it if any had it there.
-
Never had that or have heard of it. I was on a diet long ago and I'm ketosis for two weeks.
-
What did you lose on the pre op liquid diet
Savagegirl replied to JealousMuch's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
14 days and 12 pounds down. I could have all liquids and jello. I'm was hard but I didn't even have as much as a lick of anything. -
Yeah!!!! I'm looking forward to that goal too! Proud of you!

For those of you who had the balloon dilation, do you have this at the doctor's office? Did you have the endoscopy first (same day)?

When you couldn't pack or take your food... I travel for work and on the rare occasion I need to buy meals at airports or on the road when I can't get what I need from a grocery store. I'm 8 weeks out from surgery and would like your ideas on what you have picked up at airports or fast food that is compliant. I can't tolerate chicken breast yet, so that limits me. So far I've bought a premade turkey/cheese sandwich and ditched the bread or bought the hummus/carrot/cucumber box. The only fast food I can think of that is compliant is Wendy's chili (which probably has too much fat). (I'm fine when I can get to a Whole Foods or grocery store.)
