Ugh, that's so frustrating. I'm sorry. I hope they move quickly for you.

I just read your description again and honestly, I think your surgeons office is just buying themselves extra time. Mine did this also. They told me with Cigna it was about a month wait, I called Cigna and they said no, more like 5 days... I would call Cigna and check the status of your pre-authorization. I must have called them 6 times in a week. lol.

Wow. What a mess! I actually got my approval today, so fingers crossed for you too! [emoji16]

I have Cigna and it was way faster than that. They told me it's 5-7 days after submittal. Is your BMI 35 or greater than 40? Maybe that has something to do with it?

Yogurt options pre-op
MelShea replied to BlessedMomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't like chunky fruit or slimey fruit in my yogurts so greek has been hard for me. So far the only one I like is the Yoplait 100 calorie protein greek yogurt. That's going to get boring fast. -
I've had this exact experience with having to push people along, it's so frustrating. My surgeons office told me that with my insurance it's about a month wait. Yet when I called the insurance company they said "we haven't received anything from them so far but on our end it takes 5 days." I guess that means my surgeons office is overwhelmed and backlogged and blaming cigna. lol. Oh well, we wait...

What's your Pre-Op To Dos?
MelShea replied to Kaylalala's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! I would have forgotten, I never take pics of myself. I need to request vacation time at work. Make a living will ( I don't have one and I know it's a negative state of mind but, it would make me feel better) Grocery shop for husband and kids. Subscribe to HBO Now and Starz so I have more to watch when I'm post op and bored. -
What is that one thing you look forward to so much, post op?

YESSSS! -
Hello all, I'm new here. Started the process over a year and a half ago, my husband was sent halfway across the country for work and I thought to myself, "Is it a responsible thing to do to have an elective surgery when I'm home alone with two kids? Probably not" So I bailed... Now 5 months ago I started the process again. I was just submitted to insurance a couple weeks ago, received a denial because the surgeons office sent old nutrition info on accident from my first time around with them. I'm now in "reconsideration" with Cigna. Supposed to hear back on Friday. Nervous. Very nervous I won't be approved. Although I've done all they asked and I'm an ideal candidate in my surgeons opinion. Happy to be here with you all! ~Melissa

Who are you telling (pre-op)?
MelShea replied to Arthur Dent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've told my husband and children, that's it. My siblings, my parents, my inlaws, my work, my friends-- none of them know. I'll have to tell work when I get my surgery date but I haven't decided if I'll be specific about my surgery or not. I guess I'll see when the time comes. My mom is a worrier, my sister is a negative nelly with never a positive thing to say, and my friends all have that one friend who has gained it allll back. Don't wanna hear it. -

Not using the lap belt extender on an airplane. Tying my shoes without a struggle. Same with socks. Having a lap again. To stop snoring when I sleep. Cute clothes! Fitting into clothes that don't have an X on the size. Too many things to name really. -
I have Cigna and my doctors office just submitted to my insurance. As long as you're past 89 days and have 3 consecutive months with nutrition you could be having surgery within 3 months. I was told it's closer to 4 after the insurance approves it.
