Help please...3 fills and still nothing...
kevinh posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr told me after surgery that he had given me the "large" band because that was sort of standard for him when it comes to men, but I am several weeks out post-op and have had three fills totaling 6 cc's and I can eat a baby portion, medium portion, or elephant dinner and I am usually not full at all. I can drink a glass of water, or soda (go easy on me) and nothing gets backed up, I mean, nothing seems to slow down or meet any restriction at all. Shouldn't I ask for another fill ASAP? TIA -
I had to add my 2 cents when you mentioned the "sweet spot". I agree with several of the good answers in this thread, but just to add, instead of needing 2, 3, or more fills to get to your "sweet spot", think of it as if each time you get a fill, you are RETURNING to your "sweet spot". As your body changes (shrinks actually) you need fills to keep getting you back to your sweet spot - the spot at which you eat X amount of food and feel satiated, but it's not enough food to keep your current weight, so as you continue to lose weight and your size changes, the fills just bring you back to the sweet spot again where you feel satiated but you continue to loose weight. Another way to look at it is like your one true "sweet spot" is years down the pike when you are at the point at which you eat, feel satisfied, and MAINTAIN your newly achieved healthy weight. Good Luck!

60 hours post op and still lots of pain
kevinh posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sister and I were banded the same day (Wed) and she hurts a lot too, in fact she says that this lap band surgery is much worse than her total hip was as far as pain goes, but I hear a lot of people say they were "just uncomfortable" or that their pain was mild to moderate. Well the two of us are living one hour at a time in pretty bad pain. I would say the gas pain up in my shoulders is about equal to the pain coming from the diaphram and access port areas. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time but I do not know how much of a role that might be playing pain wise. We have been up walking around about once every 90 minutes or less, and we have no trouble drinking fluids at all. It hurts to take a deep breath or to use any ab muscles to get up or down, but even sitting still hurts like pluresy or something similar. I don't hurt as much as I did when I first got home, but when I hear about people going back to desk work 3 days post op it makes me worry a bit. When I sort of hiccup it hurts in my shoulders so bad I feel I might pass out. Any ideas on speeding up getting the co2 out of the body besides walking? Please tell us we can expect day 3 (tomorrow) to be significantly better? Kevin
