    Travel question

I'm in a similar situation. I have a cruise planned mid September. I could have had surgery anytime this month but chose to postpone my surgery for a week and a half after I get back from the cruise. I'm sure I could have managed and still had fun but lets be honest....I already purchased the drink package...I'm obligated to not let that go to waste! I'm super happy with my decision. I can fully enjoy my trip then come home and get ready for the big day. By the time I'm ready for my next vacation, I'll be adapted to my new WLS life style. PS When I visited Paris, I walked around like crazy. All the museums and sites and not to mention all the delicious carbs!!! I'm glad you are postponing your trip! I would have been sad for you if you hadn't hahaha. Good luck and have fun!!

    Alone After Surgery

Yes, definitely! My sister agreed to watch my dogs for a few days as needed. I would really like them back after a couple of days though. They are great motivation to do some walking after surgery and I know the surgeon encourages light walking right after surgery. It will definitely be lonely without my babies for those couple of days.

    Alone After Surgery

Thanks for everybody's responses! My dad is more than willing to help get me to and from the hospital as well as pick up any meds for me. He also offered to let me stay at his place but like I said I think I would feel more comfortable on my own couch and my own bed. I'm planning to stock up on the essentials like protein shakes and broth so hopefully I won't be required to drive anywhere. I think I'm going to try and tough it out alone but let me dad know I might change my mind if I'm feeling bad when I get released or if I'm experiencing any complications. Hopefully, if I just take things slow and easy (like getting up and down from my bed/couch) then I should be ok, right?? haha I'm just nervous about surgery stuff!

  5. Hi everybody! So I'm single and live alone (not counting my dogs). I'm schedule for surgery on 9/26. So my question is this: did anybody tough it out alone right after surgery? I really don't want to stay with anyone and I think I'd be much more comfortable in my own place. However I am worried about needing helping a day or two after surgery. Anybody have any advice? September 2017

Hi all! My surgery is scheduled for 9/26. It's been a long journey and I'm so ready to get this part done and over with! I've been working to get rid of some of my bad eating habits before surgery. I figure if I can eat right now then it will be so much easy after surgery. Anybody else fighting the sweet or junk food cravings? Lol I will be on a roll then somebody brings donuts to work. Doh! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. My surgery is scheduled for Sept 26th so I'll be two months out during thanksgiving. My family knows about my procedure so I'm not too worried about home celebrations. I don't think anybody would care if I opted out this year. However, I am worried about holiday potlucks and meals at work. They make a big deal about the entire department chipping in and coming together to eat. How have other people dealt with holiday food at work? I don't mind chipping in but I really don't want to sit in a conference room while 50 other people stuff their faces and I'll just be there nibbling on some turkey... I guess I can just try and slip out unnoticed lol Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Proteinaholic by Dr Garth Davis

Thank you for posting this topic! I will definitely look into reading this book. It sounds interesting. I've been thinking of doing away with a lot of animal based protein once I have my WLS in September. It's kind of a daunting thought though. I've always planned out my meals based around my protein (meat) choice. I can foresee meal planning to be much more challenging especially since I'm a little picky about my veggies. BUT I know everything about WSL process is going to be a challenge. So maybe I should try one or two days a week where I eliminate meat? Did you guys just cut it out immediately or did you ease yourself off of meat? Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Plant Based Diet

Thanks for everyone's thoughts and opinions. I did some further research and it looks like a lot of the studies and numbers used in that movie were inflated or manipulated. So I do feel a bit better. However, I think once I get healed up from surgery I might try to limit my animal based protein. I think I could do well with seafood and veggies. Maybe keep the eggs...i can't imagine breakfast without eggs!! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I'm pre op and just had my last nutritionist visit. I've been making changes with my diet and exercising more. I'm totally ready! Well...I just watch a documentary on Netflix called What the Health and it's made me nervous about the meat based protein diet my nutritionist is promoting. I've always been a carnivore so have never thought about cutting it out. But I have also never really cared about my diet before. So my question is: is there anyone out there that has adopted a vegan diet post surgery? Or even somebody who has extremely cut down on animal products? Are you able to lose weight, maintain weight loss and have energy? Please let me know your experiences. Ps I'm not usually one to let a movie or random internet article or whatever change my opinions on things but something about this documentary just struck hard.
