Surgery was May 17th, at 2.5-3 weeks post-op I hit my first stall! Thank goodness I measured myself so I don't have to rely strictly on the scale (lost 5 1/2 inches). It's still frustrating though, but I am doing everything right so I just have to push through the stall. I also started taking a stool softener, hopefully it helps. My BM's have been infrequent and too big to pass easily when they do come. Anyone else hit a stall yet?

Surgery was 5/17. The first night was hard! I had shoulder pain which was hindering any significant sleep. Apparently, one type of pain that is unique to laparoscopy is the post laparoscopy shoulder pain due to the phrenic nerve irritation to the diaphragm caused by the CO2 gas that remains in the abdomen at the end of the procedure. When the patient sits up, the gas moves upwards to the diaphragm and irritates the shoulder. The only cure I found was a heating pad on my shoulders, after finding that I was finally able to sleep for 7 hours ... BIG IMPROVEMENT! Gas pain seems minimal, but I did find a secret "button" between my breasts (on my sternum), that when pushed seems to help release the gas. Don't ask how I figured that out ... WEIRD! lol I am taking one pill at a time and it seems to take most of the day to get them all down. No nausea so far, but I am taking meds for that as well. They also fixed my hiatal hernia while in surgery so I haven't had any heartburn, but to be fair I'm not taking in much of anything ... water and vitamin water (the jello was sickly sweet and hard to get down). I am still peeing so I hope I am getting enough water. I am walking as much as I can, but I do have a pain (the top right quadrant of my abdomen), but it isn't associated with any of my incisions, which is weird and I will ask my doctor about it at my 1-week appointment. I have decided to only weigh myself once per week, the fluctuations drive me nuts. But I still have water weight from surgery and am still not back to my surgery weight, even though I've had nothing but liquids.

From what I was told A.N. can present itself at any joint/pivot point, e.g. neck, elbow, knees, upper thigh, etc.

About 9 years ago my endocrinologist put me on a "cocktail" for my PCOS. It consisted of several medications (hormones, metformin, etc) to assist in weight loss. The weight melted off (no effort on my part), my elbows looked normal, skin tags went away, hirsutism (excess hair growth) ceased, menstruation became normal, etc. The Metformin assists in hindering excessive sugar release, which is what may have helped with the A.N. I would have gone on the "cocktail" again, but the hormones COMPLETELY changed my personality and made me and my life crazy. There's no way I would do it again, which is why I am doing the VSG next month.

She probably did. That is what I thought for years before I found out what it actually was.

I have PCOS and Acanthosis Nigricans is one of the many effects. My AN manifests itself on my elbows and every time I have lost weight or changed my hormone levels (in the past) my AN has diminished tremendously.

Started on my pre-surgery Healthy Eating Plan, on 5/3 I start my 2-week pre-surgery liquid diet, then on 5/17, I have my surgery. I work from home most days (only need to go in for meetings), so I'll be taking about 3 days off, then I will just make sure everyone knows I am COMPLETELY working from home for the next month or so. I am VERY excited!!! Researching which vitamins totake is what is killing me right now!
