    Ask Dr. Schulman...

Dr. Schulman, Thank you for lending yourself to us... that is awesome! I am 50 years old, had WLS in 2006 and have lost 60 lbs. No, not goal, but I still work at it. I am having a hysterectomy and pannilectomy on Monday. I have opted to keep my ovaries even though my doctor has recommened that because of my age, she remove them. I have no cysts or cancer in my family. MY QUESTION: She said that if she has to go in and remove them later, it will mess up my pannilectomy? I was thinking about this and believe she is thinking I am getting a tummy tuck? Is she correct? and if it "messes" it up ... what does that mean. Thank you again and you can be sure I will discuss with both GYN and PS on Monday at 6 am before we have surgery.. Donna
  3. Anyone else have plastic surgery and a hysterectomy? I was banded in 2006 and have lost 60 lbs. No, I am not at goal, but when the doctor said I needed a hysterectomy... it looked like an open door to me! I still work out and try to watch what I am eating.... I am not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I am happy. I love the small things in life today.... being able to bend over and tie my shoes and accepting that happiness is an inside job! So Monday is the day....I will be very excited to wake up in recovery without a uterus that has held me hostage for years and this piece of "fat" around my stomach!

    NJ October 2008 thread

ARE YOU SITTING DOWN.............. Yes it is me! Just thought I would check in. You all look absoultely fab! HOT MAMAS.... I am going for full hysterectomy and pannilectomy on Monday. I am not at goal, but figured since they were cutting me open... what the heck! DH: wonderful! Sunny South Florida: great! DC: all five living their lives and what more could you ask for! Son in air force got married in May .. the same week the youngest graduated from college in Boston. DGC: All five doing great! The Band: it is still there. I have learned like a good student to eat around it! I am still going to gym and working out. I keep off the 60lbs I lost. I have not had a fill in almost two years. If I try to eat fast or to much... it still sends me to the bathroom real quick so I would say... it is doing its job when I let it.... So, that is all from me. I have to go since I have nesting all weekend before surgery! LOL I am grateful for small things today. I can bend over and tie my shoes and happiness is an inside job! Love you guys..... Donna :tongue_smilie:

    NJ October Thread

I feel all warm and fuzzy! You guys rock! I really missed you guys and thought of often.... Darcy, I will have to read up, but it sounds like trouble on the home front. Just know that it is hard to see the big picture... Do the next right thing for you and emma and it will be ok. Just went to court over back child support with my ex-husband who has been MIA for 14 years. After losing in court, listening to lies all those years I gave up. This time after a PI found him, the judge gave me attorney fees, interest on the back child support... totally $90,000:) Kat, My son Sheehan is doing well. He is stationed in Las Vegas and engaged to be married in May. My son Kyle lost his best friend in Iraq last August. It was terrible. I still cry just thinking about it. I will catch up with everyone... I need to time LOL Kisses, d:kiss2:

    NJ October Thread

Hi, Its me... Donna/Doc What ever you want to call me! No I haven't been lost, LOL I don't even know the last time I posted? Anyway.... REFRESH: Banded Jan 06 in Mexico. Started at 260 .... Got one fill and haven't needed another one. Went down to 203 and then gave in to the food demons! Went back up 231 until I surrendered.!!!! AGAIN !!!! Working out 6 days a week, 4 of those days with a trainer and back on track with food. As of last Sunday I am 210. I am still losing weight that I already lost once, but I can't look back, just ahead. My husband John and I were talking last night. He said I may not always use the band as a tool as I should, but neither of us regret me getting it. He gets a vote since I was self pay .... I am so grateful I have my band and that I am back on the food recovery. So, I have been snooping lately, catching up. Good to see some familiar names... kisses d:kiss2:
  7. You know what..... I come here to share and to reach out for help, to offer support to others that are hurting, to learn from those who have been through what I have been through. I am new, emotional and need of some undertanding and TLC. I don't appreciate having anyone tare my posts apart and laugh at what I say. This isn't supportive .... I need help, not sarcasm which doesn't seem possible here. I am sooo tired of this back and forth bullshit. Thanks to those who have offered help. I wish you all the best. Donna

    Why do we allow temptation?

Ok. my $5.30 cents worth....... FIRST TOPIC: I don't keep junk in the house because I am addicted to food. My husband is entitled to eat what he wants because he isn't addicted to food. He does chose to keep the stuff out of my face. Eats while watching the football game, respects me enough not to eat in bed. It works for us, but doesn not have to work for others here. I don't smoke anymore and don't keep them in the house. My friend keeps a carton in the house and that makes her feel better. I don't tell her she is wrong, it works for her. These difference make us all unique... and that is why I love it here. OFF TOPIC: Someone starts a thread.... someone adds to the thread by giving their opinion of the topic. the people who posted before them come back to "quote" them and make them feel like their opinon is wrong because they don't agree with them. As said before.... everyone is entitled to their opinion. Let the comments roll.. don't keep going back and forth... It is causing each one of these threads to turn nasty. TAKE AWAY THAT "QUOTE" OPTION AND EVERYONE STOP TRYING TO RAM THEIR DIFFERENCES DOWN THE OTHERS THROAT... Have a great day because I plan on it

    I am so f'in pissed

Should fathers do anything for their sons? Why not! If we expect our sons to grow up and treat their woman right, we have to show them "how it is done". My husband and I sent valentines to all our kids (35 yrs old down to 20)... boys included. They all called to wish us a nice day... I have always thought of valentines day as a HALLMARK HOLIDAY. A day to make those alone feel bad, a day for those who have someone to have expectations..... With expectations always come disapointment. I am sorry for those who had bad days, ... but today is a new one and I hope the sun is shinning on you

    For struggling new bandsters

LaMadam, Thank you for this thread. It is so wonderful to read all of this info. Even though I know all of this, I am a newbee and I need reminding of all of these things over and over and maybe over again. What is bumping? Where is the post where you weigh in weekly? Confession: I am a scale person.... I will try to stop! No promises, but I will try:biggrin1:
