    Greetings

Congrats! That's great. I will have my surgery at UW-Health in Madison WI in late May or early June. I've started some better eating habits (a requirement before surgery) and have lost a bit. I need to get a scale! I avoided those for awhile now. Thanks for the positive email.

Thanks Lizalee! Congrats! That sounds like a lot of protein..wow. I am happy with my BAND decision, too; should happen in June. Very nice of you to take the time to give us such a positive report.

I should get banded at UW-Health in Madison in June. They have a payment plan. It's also a Center of Excellence so they have been really thorough so far. Good Luck!!

Hello from Eau Claire! If I have the dates right, you are banded now?? How did it go!? Good for you.
  5. I am starting the process to have a LAP-BAND procedure at UW-Health, UW-Madison, WI, USA. I have read what I can on the internet and heard about this forum. I am excited and nervous. So far, from the discussion board I am on, I have mostly heard about the experiences of those who have had the gastric bypass so I am eager to read all of your posts! :crying:
  6. I started the paperwork in Jan.; was approved on March 5th. I've done my 3 hours of psych testing. Have to meet with a nutritionist a couple of times. 2 weeks before the surgery, I start a sugar-free liquid diet. Possible surgery in June. I thought that's what a port was---makes sense! Thanks for the reply!
  7. I am getting 'banded' this summer, hopefully in June, at UW-Health in Madison. I really like the staff. I'm not sure what a PORT is but I hope it's a minor problem. Good Luck! Are you still glad that you did it?
  8. How long ago did you have the band done? How was recovery? Are they right about the one to two pound weight loss a week? Are you glad you did it? THANKS!
  9. Hey, we're the same age, too! Congrats to us for not giving up!! I am trying to start to separate my fluids from my food. That's not too hard for me. The chewing forever is tougher! There is not much that could stop my excitement though. Have a great day!
  10. I am glad I found this forum last week. "One fire at a time".....I like that; thanks. It would be great to be on the same timeline as you during our journeys! It finally is starting to feel real. :tongue_smilie:
  11. I had my 3 hour psych test yesterday in Madison; see the med. psychologist on the 8th, the nutritionist on the 23rd; at UW-Health in Madison, one has to do a 2 week liquid diet before the surgery. The earliest I'd have the LAP-BAND will be in June. I still need to sell my house before moving! I don't see how it will all come together on time, but I am excited, too! It's been a long haul to get to this point. How much longer for you? Any idea?
  12. :huh2: I am moving to Flagstaff----been in Phoenix often to see my daughter and family...too hot for this livelong Wisconsite. Where do you live?
  13. Robin, Thanks! Exactly the info I wanted....I will get a day or two at my son's house in Madison so I'll be fine. Great! Thanks again. Marcie:biggrin2:
  14. Sure, I will have an extra bedroom in Flagstaff! The LONGEST winter...ugh...ready to be done with it and get out and walk! I am in Eau Claire. How were the first days after the banding for you? I am wondering if I need to get some help or do it alone---I am really stubborn!
  15. Oh, that sucks. I did that for a few weeks. Terrible that insurance has more say than what doctors say is good for our health! Hang in there.

    Wisconsin: Where are you??

Hope you get approved soon, Shadow! That was such a relief when I got that letter! Now, a few more hurdles, and I will be a Bandster! :crying:
  17. Nice to hear from another Packer Backer...that won't change no matter where I live. I am excited to get on with this surgery.....where did you have yours done?

    Wisconsin: Where are you??

I live in Eau Claire, will have surgery at UW-Madison, Health, after I get through the psych eval and nutritionist meetings. How many days were you off work, or needed help at home, after your LAP-BAND procedure? THANKS!
