Good luck to you! My band was taken out 4 years ago. I'm going in for RNY on Thursday.

My surgeon varies in his pre-op liquid diet length patient to patient. For me he wanted the full liquid jet for 14 days. The day before surgery is clear liquids only.

I'm July 13th too!

3rd day preop diet and i feel...
LaLa Ladybug replied to Old2NewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there. I'm on day 10. By day 7, it seemed to get easier for me. More energy to get through work without out wanting a nap. Today was harder for me with food cravings for some reason. Then went to my friends 50th BDay party made it thru that & I've made it thru the day. You can do this! -
Surgery in one week!
LaLa Ladybug replied to emma93's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
From what I've been told Emma93, the key points are sip, sip, sip, & walk, walk, walk. How long will you be in the hospital? As far as getting out of bed once you're home, try laying down now, wrap your arms around you like you're giving yourself a hug, and roll to your side towards the edge of the bed till you can stick your legs out. Letting your legs go down to the door will help get you out and use gravity to stand up (slowly). Probably sounds weird, but my sister (retired nurse) taught me this when I had abdominal surgery once. -
Whats pre surgery height and weight... and goal im just curious
LaLa Ladybug replied to My_bootiful_journey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey from Oregon! I'm new to this too + using the app which I guess is missing a lot of WWW features. I'm 5'6". Weight at first visit in February was 276. Surgeons desired pre-op loss was 251. Now 244 & set for surgery this coming Thursday 7/13. Weight goal for surgeon is 175. Personal goal? I'd love to have the energy to go dancing and really want to do a 5k. -
Very happy for her at how well this went. And your support has been A-mazing!

2 week pre op liquid diet- 3 Days in
LaLa Ladybug replied to Kyle Lukas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you have souls too? Or change protein powders? I'm on Day 10 with 4 to go. The first week was the hardest. Now that I'm in the home stretch, I feel better about it. Helps to see the scale go down as the days pass too. For soups, we can have anything relatively low in sodium & either creamy or broth. Trader Joe's black bean soup & roasted red pepper soup are my favorites. Something warm makes me feel like I'm actually eating. Oh, & we can have SF jello, yogurt (with no fruity chunks, and SF pudding. Hope it gets easier for you! -
How are you doing AZ Bonnie? You're 3 days postop?

Pre-op clear liquids -protein powder
LaLa Ladybug replied to RN4WHLR's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've learned that different surgeons have different demands for their pre-op diet. Some say Ensure and Carnation Instant breakfast are fine while others keep patients strictly on Optifast. Some are 3 day pre-op liquid diets and some are 2 or more weeks. For mine, it's 2 weeks. The Nut gave us a list of brands she'd vetted thru the manufacturers & then showed us what to look for on the labels if we wanted different brands. There was a short list of protein drinks our surgeon would not approve. For us, the day before surgery is the clear diet day. For that, they listed a few brands that carry unflavored protein powder to add to crystal light drink, Power Aid Zero's, broth, hello, etc. another option is to grab a few bottles of Isopure. They are clear liquid pre-made Protein drinks. Many GNC's carry them. Here in Oregon, I found them at Vitamin Shoppe. Kind of chalk-y, but survivable for the short term. Good luck! -
Yay! It's just around the corner! Congrats! Mine is a few days later on 7/13. And OMG about the constipation from the protein. Glad it's not just me, but sorry you went try it too.

What was the biggest surprise for you at or after surgery? What do you wish you had known?
LaLa Ladybug replied to sunmeadow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is still a week and a half away. I'm wondering how we can even drink that stuff the day after surgery. Did they have you drink as much then as they did pre-op? -
Do you have a grabber in case you drop something or there is something higher than you can reach without stretching? Someone else suggested that to me.

Good input. Thank you for sharing! -
Starting Day 5 of my two week pre-op liquid diet. Seemed like surgery was so far away and now it's coming up fast on 7/13.

Questions about postop for pending 7/13 RNY Gastric Bypass
LaLa Ladybug replied to LaLa Ladybug's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you. I am very lucky. Only one really negative person so far. She wanted to be at the hospital with my mom & hubby but we decided to keep it just us and positive vibes. Others have been really great! -

Thank you Linda. Grabber is a great idea! I'd still be able to use it later on with our higher cupboards. We live in a hill-y area, so my friends are talking about picking me up for walks in flat areas. Plus it would get me out for a little bit at a time. -

Questions about postop for pending 7/13 RNY Gastric Bypass
LaLa Ladybug replied to LaLa Ladybug's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh, I'm sorry you are having panic attacks. Those are so miserable. An anesthesiologist I know said that can happen sometimes postop while the anesthesia is getting out of your system. It throws everything off balance. If it helps any, he said it's about a month for it to clear out. Maybe it will be sooner with all the liquids you'll be drinking? -

Thank you. Bending over didn't even dawn on me. We have a little dog (who thinks she's a princess) I need to feed, plus being a klutz by nature, I'm sure I'll drop something here & there. -

Sounds great Emma93! Lets message each other. Nice to know you're having yours the same week. Sorry you do not have family near. We were so shocked when my husband was offered a few weeks of his type of work here in town. He's usually off the West Coast and somewhere in the Midwest or Southeast coast this time of year. I'm looking forward to hearing how your doing & it'll be cool to update each other along the way. -
I'm so happy for you!
