Hi, this is bjane. Dr. Enochs did my lapband and I just recently went for a fill and asked about the size of my band. The PA told me that it is a size 10. I did well with my fill and I am very pleased so far in my journey. I, also, hope to be thin one day.

Hi Claudine, My name is bjane and I am a patient of Dr. Enochs. He did my gallbladder surgery in April and my lapband on 6-5 and he is wonderful. I go on July 9 for (I think) my first fill. I'm ready because I'm beginning to be hungry. Best of luck.

Hi, this is bjane. I am almost three weeks post op and I'm beginning to feel good again. Gas pains are gone and I'm beginning to feel hunger (bad!!) but I'm managing to be careful with food choices. This week I can have baby food (YUK) so instead I boiled chicken and ground it and added a little mayo and that was awfully good. I've had sugar free oatmeal once and grits once. I havn't gotten the nerve to try the eggs yet but I will. Before my surgery (6/5/08) I lost 14 lbs and since I have lost 10 lbs and I must say, I feel so much better. I have only taken one insulin shot in 3 weeks and my sugar readings are ok. When I see my primary care doctor, I will take my recordings and we'll discuss whether or not he thinks I will need to use insulin. I hope not. Just an update on my journey and best wishes to all who are brave enough to do this.

Hi this is bjane. I am a patient of Dr. Enochs and I am extremely happy with him and with his staff. Lisa (as well as the others) are very helpful and will listen to you and answer questions. I started my journey in early Feb, 08 and after all my preop testing, found that I had to have my gallbladder removed. Dr. Enochs did that for me and I did great. I am 2 weeks since surgery for lapband and other than the gas pains and my taste buds being a little funky, I've done well. I went see him for my one week post op and all was well. I go back on July 9 and he said we would talk about the fills. If you are considering using him, I think you'll be happy. Good luck.

Hi, this is bjane. I too had the H-Pylori diagnosed when I had pre op work done. I had to take the Prevacid, Biaxin and amoxicillin and it was a long two weeks. I stuck it out though with following each dose with a cup of yogurt (my daughter is a pharmacist and gave me that tip). After that was over, I found out the they found a big gallstone and I had to have gallbladder surgery. BUT--I did that too and as of one week ago, I had my lapband done and it was what I expected. Lots of gas, discomfort, but I am determined to go forward. I go to the doctor today for post op and I pray they let me start full liquid: this clear liquids is getting to me. Hang in there girls with all the preop. When we're thinner, it will all be worth it.

Thanks Karenin--I'm doing pretty well except gas pains; and they are better each day. I'm trying to drink apple juice and I think that may be making the gas worse. But, doggonit, it tastes better than water! Thanks for your message.

Hi! This is bjane and I had my lapband on June 5 and I'm on clear liquids. Jello and water and apple juice. I've had lots of gas but overall I'm doing pretty well. I'll see my surgeon on Thursday for 1 week post op appt and I'm looking forward to adding to my food lists. I've lots of rumbling in my stomach and mild discomfort but I'm excited to get going with the weight loss. I lost 14 lbs preop and I'm going to wait and see what the drs scale says on Thursday. I feel like I'm swollen right now and will glad to say goodby to that. Please let me hear from you who may be at the same stage as me. It sure helps to have support from here (hubby is very supportive, but he's not doing this).

Hi, this is bjane. It's done! My surgery was yesterday at 12:00 Noon and we were home about 7:30 last night. I did well with the surgery--my surgeon had an emergency and was about 1 1/2 hours behind so I had a little extra time to be nervous. I'm having gas pains today but I'm walking and taking GasX and I'm also just a little nauseous. I'm trying to pay attention to getting enough liquids. This forum has been very informative to me and to all that are still in the planning stage, read! read! Wish me luck, everyone.:tongue2:

damienne, thanks for your well wishes. I also am nervous but excited. I've worked hard to get to this point and I also hope that my decision is right and I think it is. My boss told me today to look at this as the "first day of the rest of your life" and I want to feel better. (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.)

hi, this is bjane. My surgery is scheduled this coming thursday, June 5. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I see my surgeons assistant tomorrow for my final check before surgery. My questions are mostly about how to get my meds down right after surgery. I sure hope someone will give me ideas about that. Please keep me in your thoughts as I am struggling not to let this nervous thing get out of hand. I want this so badly and I know that it isn't easy but I'm willing to try.

Hi, this is bjane and I live in Johnston County. I have been on this journey since early Feb 08. I did all my testing and I've had a few bumps, i e, gallbladder surgery, and it took a while for my ins approval. I am scheduled for June 5 for my lapband with Dr. Paul Enochs of Cary,NC as my surgeon. He did my gallbladder surgery and he is really great. I have been pleased with his office and his PA Lisa is very helpful. Wish me luck as I wish you all the same.

Hi, this is bjane and I have a surgery date. June 5--I havn't told a lot of people because I don't want to jinx myself. I'm anxious about this but I know that this is my chance to improve my health. I've been practicing drinking lots of liquids and watching what I eat ---most times I do pretty good. This is going to be quite a life change for us in this journey but I have lots of family support. I've read and read and read everything I can find and I hope that I've made a wise decision to do this. I need suggestions and advice. Thanks:whatchutalkingabout

Hi Again, bjane here.I got my call from my dr's office today telling me that insurance approval is in. I have to go in on Wed for 2 week followup from gallbladder surgery and I will be scheduled. Now----I'm nervous--I hope I'm making the right decisions here. I know it is what I want to do but change comes hard for me. I really feel this is my last chance to do something about my weight. If I could have done it alone, I would have done it years ago. I have great support from my husband and kids and they think I should get on with the program. I will have lots of questions for my dr. on Wed and I hope the answers will help me with my concerns. Wish me luck! Any one with advice or info, please let me know. Thanks.

I have really already gotten lots of good advice as I have been browsing around the different threads. I really like this site because I want to know how people my age deals with this. I worry about the restriction being too tight but I will deal with that if I get approved by insurance. Thanks for the welcome. bjane

Hi, I'm bjane and I live in NC and I'm 63 years old and working on the Lap Band since early Feb, 08. I've done all the requirements that my doctor requires. I've had several things that I had to do as a result of the testing, had to start on thyroid med and I discovered I have sleep apnea---now I'm trying to adjust to CPAP. THEN--- When I went for my last appt before surgery date, I was informed that I needed gallbladder surgery (done 8 days ago). I'm waiting on insurance approval now. Please wish me luck. I really am ready to get on with the Lap Band even tho I am very nervous.:w00t:
