  1. thanks for your story it was good toread about your positive experience. I think i was expectign too much, i thougth Im tough, i will be over it real soon, but now on day 8 am only just starting to feel better. dont get me wrong im not knocking you, but just sayign it might not be that easy for everyone. It would also be helpful tohave someone brign your jello, etc, im alone and that could be delaying my progress.
  2. all these recipes and especially the roasts! makign me starving. and only on day 8. dammit! but i have to say i dont like fish, am allergic to it. (grits used to be made by Granny Clampett, thats all i know of them!)

    FINALLY I have my date

this site has been really helpful for me. i found it several weeks before i was done and it was great to have alll the nitty gritty. im at day 8 ... and still feeling miserable. no real pain now just discomfort but ive been cold/shakey/depressed/exhausted/nauseous/diahorrea just not feeling right. i had appt today and they said i should have rung earlier. they were so kind i felt glad i had mentioned my discomfort instead of suffering in misery. i was in tears, but now i feel better just telling them and knowing they cared. After checking that my wounds are clean, though quite bruised, they said i have a bit of a bug which could have been passed on by someone with a cold/or upset tummy or some similar thing, and i caught it as its natural to have low immunity straight after surgery. anwyay the answer is to rest rest rest and just do nothing. not difficult as i havent been able to concentrate on a book or telly, obviously i picked the right dr as they were so kind. i was probably also a bit optmistic expecting to feel better in 7 days. some people are, but not everyone. anyway.. im sure ill will be fine, just take it easy a little longer. thanks for listening!
  4. hi there, im in Melbourne, whereabouts are you, I only got banded last Thursday april 24. my surgeon wanted me on the Optifast for two weeks prior. he said it is to help reduce the size of the liver, it can be fatty, so that when they start the surgery itself, its easier to manoeuvre, also to help recover quicker, and to get a head start on losing weight. i lost 3 kg in the two weeks prior to the surgery, i wasnt hungry as long as i stuck to it.. but like you, i know someone else who had the op over 2 years ago, but he doesnt recall any optifast.
  5. what is the magic trick to this, seems simple enough. a few steps on teh ticker wizard , then copy and paste, but it doesnt work? where do u copy and paste it into? are the photographs avatars? how does one get a photo that small?
  6. sorry it doesnt help reading people say It does get better: im so weak and tired and depressed and my house is now a mess cos icant do a thing. went to shops today for first time.. also got dressed today for first time. I went there specifially to get a pedicure as i cant reach down to cut own toes.! even though the shops are five minutes away i drove, and fell asleep coudlnt keep head up during the pedicure. came home and straight to bed wehre i slept six hours straight. i cant understand this, im on day 7. i know some people go back to work at this stage?? finding it hard to keep drinking all this yoghurt optisfast sustagen. im starting to get nauseous frrm all the milky drinks. yes i have Soup too but omg i need something with flavour in it!
  7. HI, not Dr aly, it was Dr Michell. he is very nice but i havent seen him much really.
  8. yes definitley the gas is orrible, but after abotu day three i started passing some. its a relief but there is a lot more to come. im still burping at day 7! i too, felt awful at day 2 and was kept in hospital extra night. just as well so i could get the care. coudlnt look after myself otherwise. especialy with constant getting water, and fluids.
  9. Wow, i cant understand how some people can get better so quick. Im at day 7 today. and still feel awful. so weak. and nauseous sometmes. let alone the discomfort. there is no way i could handle a day at work, i cant even manage a walk to the corner of the steet! my dr told me beforehand that i would need 2.5 weeks off. at this rate i can imagine needing much more than that. yes my job is a desk job too.
  10. hi, well that would be up to you, i thoguht i would be ok, i live with adult children. but now the house is a mess cos the dishwsher is broken and no one is takign care of the place, i generally am a bit of a loner but if someone would help me change my sheets and brush my hair id be so happy. ive been going through all sorts of pain, both phuysically and emotionaly and i coudl do with the company to tell the truth, but as long as they left me alone to sleep!

    Banded 10 hours ago.

wow youre brave. i was still in hospital for 2 days and 2 nights after mine, then in bed for two days straight at home after that sleeping sleeping sleeping, too weak to even think abotu computers. im at day five and wanting this alien otu of me, and wanting someone to make me a nice home cooked roast dinenr with all the trimmings. dont know if ive lost any weight as i have no scales. good news is that today my pain reduced to managemeable. only on paracetemol instead of the morphine which has kept me going so far. good luck to you.
  12. HI! im on day four after banding. yes still getting the wind. but defintiely walking about helps trememndously. and sitting upright. im quite sore but the kind dr gave me strong tablets to take home. hopefuly i wont need them too long. when i logged on i saw new threatds about feeling cold and weak. help they have scared me, but i think i tbetter to ask the dr, not to read too much into what people on here say to eat,, I do hae a menu plan from dietician who says have an Optifast shake or Sustagen prepackaged drink. and drinking yoghurt. so far i havent although i have had one sustagen. guess its day by day.
  13. hi , im due to get the band this Thursday April 24 i started the Optisfast two weeks ago and was doin greally well but the lst two nights i just cant help picking at meat/cheese/bread. help this is not good, but i cant seem to help myself any help gratefully accepted. judy 0........
  14. thi Im getting my band this thursday at Warringal Pvte in Heidelberg. was goign to be the Epworth but was changed. thats fine with me,, a lot further to go but doesnt matter. these last two days im really struggling sticking to the optifast.... picking at nights.. cheese/bread/meat.. but it only makes me hungrier. help. i dont want to fail after the surgery. i know i won thave a problem with wine beer soft drinks or icecream as i dont like any of those,,, ive already lost weight dont know how much as i dont own scales. but i have dropped a dress size. couple of questions what is the point of going out for the dinner the night before. doesnt make sense to me.. after surgery some posts on this site say they dont lose any weight till the fill? which i understand is a month later. others say they lost but surely that would only be fluid, and put it back on as soon as start solid foods? Iave waited since jUly last year for this op and its been so long. i dont want to muck it up. looking for friends and support out there. cheers and kind regards judy. melbourne
  15. Hi all ive been on this Optifast for three days now. not much fun but I am committed so there it is. trouble is Im so depressed about other things. boyfriend doesnt think Im attractive and wont commit so is off on, off on, so Im doing this for myself and never even told him. Does anyone know where to get Optifast Soups? all the chemists I ask say no we dont stock it.. im a bit sick of vanilla and strawberry shakes and choc berry bars already.. My operation is set for April 24th. not too far off now considering I went to the information session in July last year and could not get into the surgeon for months, ditto all the tests.. cant wait to throw out my ugly big clothes. and to be able to sleep all night without waking up tired. and to have some energy..
  16. hi, I found this site last night and read with interest. I have been waiting a long time for the band and finally have a date April 24. Can anyone tell me what sort of condition I can expect to be in post op. I know I willhave two weeks off work, and can expect pain the first week. What I want to know is, will I have to lay on couch all day, can i walk dogs, can I dig the garden and continue renovations, can I go on holiday? how does it work? looking forward to hearing from anyone..
